Edited by: Colonel Kurtz on 27/08/2003 18:12:21 Me and my corp members are really annoyed about the way ccp is acting at the moment. We all worked hard for weeks to gather things in this game-- and suddenly ccp decided to give out a miner 2 moneymachine to a few. This guys are makeing more a day as we were doing a week- at no cost. Well ccp- another 40 guys leaving the game will not hurt you- will it ? PS: Your "events" the polaris team is "organizing" is not even worth thinking about it. What was this "Yong" story today- ?? Nothing at all - except for a few maybe- its like a lottery in this game. The number of customers is already going downhill- why are you forcing it ?

Edited by: Talak Relketh on 27/08/2003 18:20:39 You're leaving because of Miner II's? How could this possibly affect you enough to quit?
And FYI, parts of your post sound more like whining because someone else is making more isk than you. If your point was supposed to be about the alleged favouritism by CCP, maybe you should rephrase it.

PLEASE---- sorry to tell you that my friend: Shut off !!!

Life isnt fair and neither is EVE. What do you want them to do, give out miner 2 BPs to everyone?
You should be able to find ways to enjoy eve without having to have more money than the next guy.

WELCOME TO THE CONCEPT "GM EVENT".
You think I thought it was fair when some guy got the Scepter of Al'Kabor on my everquest server just because he happened to be around the GM that started the event for it?
NO. But life goes on. This is the way GM events work in almost all games, get used to it.
If you can do better GM events, make a post with suggestions. That is something useful. Now you are just whining, whineboy.

Edited by: Erty on 27/08/2003 18:40:52 Yes - CCP decided to give out Miner 2 BPC's to a few. But they didn't decide who they would give them too.
So there's no favouritism, if you wanted to participade you could! And those who killed the Jovian BS lost many of their own BS's too (I think). So it's not like it's "no cost at all". I bet you wouldn't whine if it was you who got the BP's.
That some people have more money than you doesn't make you poorer. And no, 40 persons doesn't matter that much.
This is my signature. |

I'm not writing a long post again. Read my last (on page 2): http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=28564
The BPC was up to grab for everyone who had the power to do so. If you didn't manage, there is only one reason. No matter how hard you say you have worked, you simple hasn't worked hard enough (or good enough). That's it. Face it. Play the game instead of whining.

Don't you just love the "everyone who disagrees with me's a fanboy" crowd?
TTI an all the other mega-corps are raking in billions a week. Do you hear me complaining about them, threatening to quit? Three people are actively selling Miner II's now. I still don't understand how three people (who as previously stated won a "lottery": you could have been one of them) can ruin your entire game experience.

I don't know about "anyone who had the power to do so." The event was held in Stain which we all know is The Stain Alliances stomping ground. And even though they promised the GMs to allow anyone to enter for said event they were still killing people. If CCP really wants everyone involved they should put the even somewhere that the majority of people can participate. Personally I don't think CCP has any idea how to run an MMORPG. They seem to keep making the same mistakes over and over again.

Hmm, a new way of flaming(or maybe you don't know MASS is part of SA). But as I said in the other thread:
Wherever the jovians had went, MASS would have been there(and many other SA corps). And if it had been in another place, we wouldn't have had to think about all the people that would flame us on the forum. Then we really could had fought everyone to get the loot ourself. Now, several non-SA people did get loot from the jovians.

I have to say i pretty much agree with the original poster. This miner2 thingy is bs. Having the event held in a closed region wasnt a smart move. Alliances get the good ores to make profits, why did you have to hold the event there ? Get in non alliances corps shoes for a min. They dont get the megacyte, and dont get the good items. And to top this off we see now miners 2 selling on Ebay.

yeah....GM event...that was great. In Yulai, a "scavenger hunt" where you sent evemails to the polaris peeps running it, and they handed out 5 M2 bps. Wow. That's an event? That's sad is what it was. Also it crashed the system, and caused innumerable transit issues for people trying to get through.
Really sad that one of the few things that people buy currently (miner 2's) can only be made by people who "got lucky" and got a bp. There is no level of skill that can land you a M2 bp. There are no new players coming in, so very few people buy cruisers. Most people already have their own bp or unlimited bpc.
So.....there really isn't much left to do, other than hope you get lucky and get a polaris handout of something that will produce something someone will buy. Call it whining if you will, but the fact is that the events suck, if you even can call that kinda crap an event, and the market is shot. They need to introduce some new tech, stations, ANYTHING. And yes, I like the game, but like many others I'm getting tired of waiting for something cool to happen, and it's not like the days of EQ, when there was no other MMORPG so you just kept playing. There are many others out there to try.

Very, very poor choice for an example. Yes, A random person received the Sceptre of Al'Kabor from a GM event on each server. It was a very good item. However, it was a "no drop" item that only he could use. He couldn't even sell it or pass it on. He certainly couldn't replicate unlimited copies of it. If someone had been given A miner 2, that only he could use I doubt very seriously that this would be an issue.
GM events should not yield rewards with the impact that the miner 2 fiasco had. No game that I know of would make this mistake. It does nothing but cast doubt on the whole affair and leaves CCP wide open to charges of favoritism.

I can't believe People are still *****ing about this..
Guess that makes me a "fanboy"
Like I care what kind of cash others make, it doesn't change anything in the game for me. I still make the isk I work for. TTI was Huge well before they got ahold of the M2 BPs so it's not like I or any other small corp would be able to overcome them anyway. The fact is they have a good thing going. There will always be one corp that's bigger, stronger or what ever, if you can't deal with it, move on?
Sometimes to win, you have to fight just as mean and dirty as the other guy. Nobody will beat you challenging you to the field of honor for pistols at dawn. They have to slit your throat while you lay in bed, just like you'd do them. - Jash Illian |

Um, WRONG. Get your history straight.
Two miner II BPs existed in the game before the Ouria event. (Traded for TTI's Nibelung.)
And the Ouria drops were basically a handout to the Stain Alliance due to the location chosen for the event. Does anyone find it surprising that the only known BP to drop from that event is in the hands of a Stain Alliance member, and that Stain has confirmed in posts elsewhere that they possess more copies than the one Golden One is selling from? ---------------- Blue Screen of Death CEO Exodus Enterprises |

The storyline is just unfolding, sorry i didnt participate in the miner 2 event, oracle did, but we got no loot, what we got was fame, as we where mentioned in the news, and it was a very good RP event.
EVE is a MMORPG, play like that participate in the community, and dont whine because someone struck it lucky, it could be you next time.
We at Oracle lost 15 stabbers that day figthing beside the rogue Jovian Admiral, we didnt get reimbursed, didnt get any items from GM, but our name was forever cut into the community, as we where branded Minmatarian terrorist
Take a look around, do a bit of roleplaying and soon you will be sweept into the storyline yourself, maybe, just maybe you could get a brandnew elite frigat or other things, just because you where at the right spot at the right time So Say I. Einheriar Ulrich of the Bloodline of Einheriar.

I agree with Cylynex's comments. GM events in EVE are poor at best.
This is mainly because the events don't allow a large number of players to participate. The location of the event in question limited participation.
Another issue is that EVE is a global MMOG. Even if some wanted to participate, timing of the event played a part. I think they should have setup several smaller events staggered over various time zones to allow for maximum participation.

Polaris has expressly stated that events are arranged and advertised such that only small groups participate in them, if only because the game architecture doesn't handle hundreds of ships in a system at all well.
So, we can expect other, future events to be held and different times of day, with different means of info dissemination. That you weren't able to attend this event is not evidence that you will never be able to attend any event.

Another Polaris without a clue:
Yes there was a 'reward' for killing a nasty jovian admiral...except... it was in Stain...Stain is a locked region to most. SA offered to let peeps in to watch, but they podded anyone who went anywhere close to retrieving or trying to retrieve any dropped loot. So no joy for the masses there then?
