Lets start by saying that i personaly dont mine and i fully support ganking mininers, the fact that its allowed makes this game like no other. and i live in null sec so the less ppl mining the better for my corp mates who do mine. 
but i was thinking that some times ganking is just too easy and should be made a littel more intresting.
so i would like to see Faction Mining Barges. can fit the same amount of strip mininers but with no mining bonus. instead have an additional 3 higslots for launchers or turrets and the bonuses can be for tank and DPS. like a Damage bonus to FoF missles or a turret bonus.
This way as soon as the would be victim gets agro he can shoot back and help concord kill the ganker faster but if the ganker is sucessful he has a nice faction ship on his killboard. Maybe make them cost the same as the T2 equivalent or higher.
With no mining bonuses to the ships this would not make the current exumers obsel33t.

Just give Mining Barges a 3-4 Shield Tank then give Exhumers and Barges Grid to hold a real tank. Large Shield Extenders will make Gankers think, do I really want to spend the ISK to commit this gank.
Anyone stupid enough to have empty slots then deserves the loss.

'Cause someone planning a gank wont figure out how to do kill an expensive mining barge with the required amount. =/ People already use 5-6 Apocs to nuke a faction BS that is deadspace/officer fit already. |

I personally couldn't give a flying crap about miners bitching. There are things they can do to negate the risk of being ganked at the cost of mining efficiency. It's a fair tadeoff.
Although faction mining barges would make for awesome killmails. |

Faction mining barges would be only available in the ORE LP store and thus cost about 1bil+ ISK each. Only Chribba would fly one.

Perhaps you haven't noticed, but mining barges are all ORE Faction ships.
Malcanis' Law: Any proposal justified on the basis that "it will benefit new players" is invariably to the greater advantage of older, richer players.

Tank a hulk properly and it can survive most gank attempts, they'd have to throw real isk into the gank to destroy your hulk and by then it becomes counter productive. |
