Folks, we've had a pirate corp take up residence in our 0.3 with a Revelation dreddie. Fair play to them but my point is this: how can we take it on?
We run a gang-size of around 20 to 25 at a stretch. Could a BS fleet take it? Or do we have to go small to get round its tracking? With 40k of shields etc. Just how long do we have to batter it to get a result?
Ta in advance...

well orbit close (very close) and go short range. Dreads have allot of firepower and armour, but they go down fast if alone and with a group of arround 6 BS'es easily. ----------------

Close range, cap neutralizers/drainers, tracking disruptors, enough firepower. Siege mode disables EW and increases tanking/damage, but burns resources so the ship is bound to run out of it eventually... save for possible delivery of resupply in jettisoned can, of course.

It will have a hard time hiting you if orbiting under 10km. ---------------------- (\_/) (O.o) (> <) This is Bunny. Copy Bunny into your signature to help him on his way to world domination. |

If you can get it alone with a group of your own guys then it's a lot easier. Of course you'll want to make sure it doesn't go anywhere and yes, drain the cap as fast as you can as it is an energy ship.
Second the natural shielding of the ship is over 20k and the armor is over 40k. The armor resists are all above 20% so you'll probably want at least 1 raven fitted with torps beating the **** out of the armor. Especially if they tank either shields or armor. Like everyone else says get inside it's rediculous range and just pound away.
I think the trick is getting it alone. If it isn't alone then it's going to be a fight.

* A Dreadnought will run out of stronthium (Siege Mode resource) within an hour most of the time. Maybe a little more, but probably a little less.
* A Dreadnought in siege mode will have serious problems hitting anything within 50km that has some sembleance of transversal velocity
* Don't worry about your own optimal. Only a 1400mm turret or a non-Megathron 425mm Railgun will have trouble hitting a dreadnought within 10km. Even if you orbit at 100% base velocity. (it's almost 3 times as easy to hit a dreadnought as a battleship)
* Sieged Dreadnoughts are not invincible, but they can tank more than 1000 damage per second. In fact, they can tank Concord. (Test server prior to RMR)

What system and whats the pirates name? Post that and you will most likely have plenty of people willing to help take down such a juicy target. |

Pretty easy if you just visualize Chuck Norris and fit your ship as Chuck would.

Edited by: Incubus25 on 27/01/2006 21:56:12 You are all making the assumption that said dread is going to be going solo against another fleet. I do not know a single pilot who would take such a valued ship against another fleet all on his own.
I'm looking forward to seeing this dread in action though. |

If it's a Moros, a blob of 40 or so T1 frigates and cruisers can break it's tank easily enough
(I speak from experience, my corp did this to a CI Moros in Reblier a while back, though unfortunately we didn't get to finish it off

lol not if the moros pilot is woth anything, he would pack a couple loads of medium drones also which also get the bonus so you would have equive of 30 medium drones to do your bidding, I think that would roast any cruiser or frigate VERY fast

3 BS can take out a lone dread unless its a moros which it aint thankfully.
We did it on test so you should be able to kill one no prob with 20 guys. _______________________________________________ Deadspace For Dead space!

With a fleet of 25 battleships you will kill it easily, position a covops at its location, warp in fleet, scramble and kill.
Even with a decent bs fleet protecting it you should have enough time to kill it without suffering heavy losses. Just watch our for scorps, cause if half your fleet is jammed you might as well try to destroy a planet. Also watch out if it's aligned, and consider it may have stabs.
Nosferatu tactics are good versus solo dreads, but dread is seldom solo and with 25 bs you have enough damage to shatter its tank. ___ Autocannon lemming |
