Originally by: GiantRobotSuit I entered into debate with a friend of mine once about what would win in a fight: A thousand fighter jets or a giant robot suit.
I argued that generally, giant robot suits are immune to the effects of conventional weapons. He was convinced, contrary to what military history tells us, that numbers confer an absolute advantage.

Nuggan
Pronunciated: Nug(as in tug)-Gan(as in can)
Where did this name come from? It was the name of my first ever dungeons and dragons character, a halfling druid. I created the name by taking letters off the titles of the books on my bookshelf at the time. First book first letter, second book second letter, etc. I dont remember what the books were. I've kept the name from D&D to EQ 1 and 2, DAOC, WOW, UO, CS and CSS, Battlefield 2, and um... tons of other games I played, I cant even remember them all...

Im part of a latin name for a fish, who's common name is the yellow morph, or yellow cichlid. I got a tank full of them and breed them. I used to call all my ships latin names for fish they resembled...

I get nearly every name from a online dictionary that translates english words into different languages. The work Kisaku (key-sock-ku) means "clever scheme" in Japanese. It was to cool to turn down.

I want to role play in the game so I figured a first and last name would work better. But I just made it up. |

I know Hippoking in real life, and I can vouch for the fact that yes, Hippos actually respond to his every command. We got kicked out of the zoo once when we were younger because SOMEONE caused a stampede.
When I was in Year 8, we found the schools admin password to be 'admin', a cuning string of letters that nobody could guess. So we changed it to 'bumcheekcity', because NOBODY could guess that, and we all thoght ourselves clever. When I made my first websit ethen, i called it 'bumcheekcity', and my username is always that. -- bumcheekcity

From my first ever LAN party, original Unreal Tournament. The guy who set it it all up gave me the name as he thought I was a rabid environmentalist. Which for him meant anyone who didn't consider clubbing seal pups a good laugh.
I am a member of Greenpeace however.

Sergeant Spot

In an old late 1970s table top role playing game named Traveller, my first character was named "Von Spot". He was a Vargr (wolf race). I had a lot of fun with him. I've always said that dogs are good people.
In Traveller publications that came latter, it became clear that "Spot" would not be a name a Vargr would use, so I changed it, but I still remember the Character as "Von Spot"
In my first On-Line game (Mankind), I use Von Spot as my name, but found myself mistaken as a German now and then. (I have German decent by way of Russia, but that part of my family entered the U.S. about 1870.)
To avoid confusion in Eve, I dropped the "Von" and added "Sergeant", as I am a Sergeant.

Gonada

[42]
Gonada, been a name I made up near 20 years ago believe it or not.
Gonada, a short fat human psionisist I made as a char for D&D one day . One of my friends said literally " you got to have balls to play that class in this module, man you gonna die", and the last name Da'hung sprung into my mind.
The name has stuck in my head since then, and have used it as a char in every online game ive played over the past 11 years or so, and hopefully many more to come.
In eve though I shortened it to just Gonada, didnt want the aggrivation of a name change to deal with :)
-I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.-

R Dan

R Dan well its a shortened version of something i was called a good few years ago, and has stuck with me. I was on holiday and met a random group of people - as you do - after a few days there were 30 of us that had randomly groupped together to go out at nights, meet up and do stuff in the day - go white water rafting, windsurfing etc... trouble was there were about 7 "Dan's" in this group. someone calling "Dan!" would have us all turn round, gggrrrrr.
So we all got prefixes, we had Lanky Dan, Ginger Dan, Welsh Dan, Shager Dan (he was just unstoppable, trouble is he had no taste either :P).... and me: "Rugby Dan" which i used on and off since then.
so they could just call the prefix and we'd know who it was! ment someone could just say "yeah i saw Shager with some random chick last night" so we'd all know who it was about.
But over the years I've shortened it, sometimes to just simply RD - especailly since I had to give up rugby. Bite me....for i taste good :)

Originally by: IDesert FoxI I got my name cos i thought it sounded cool. I was quite irritated when, a few weeks ago, i found out it was a nickname of Rommel. This was NOT my intention.
Rommel is an excellent source for a name. While it is from a dark part of history, Rommel is a mostly clean part of that history. Sadly, stupid people assume there is no difference betweem someone like Rommel and someone like Himmler.

Created when I was playing Freespace 2 on private lan and my ship constantly ended as "glooming ashes" in space - was in dire need of a nick at that time.
Though most tend to read it as "Golmash" at first.

From my (currently borked) bio:-
[Tommy Ten Kreds'] moniker is rumoured to have started with a small gambling debt an old friend once owed him. His friend had argued that such a small sum could surely be overlooked, "between friends". Tommy 'persuaded' him otherwise and the name stuck.

Okay so I close my eyes and jab at keys randomly then edit until it's something vaugely like a name, but hey it works.

Mr Floppyknickers

Mechwarrior (primarily) and other online games.
Story: I was tired of people with names like supadethkilla, l33tsniper, mechadeath and the like who took themselves and thier gaming skills far to seriously and thought it might be funny, at least for me, to have a name that would sting a little when they were killed by it. Hence Mr Floppyknickers was born. I've had endless fun with it thus far from mechwarrior to tribes to xbox live. Sadly, it doesn't always fit, but I stick to it as best I can sometimes just shortening it to Floppyknickers, which is my xbox gamertag.
Only side effect beyond the usual losing player's smack is everyone thinks I'm british.
