and now think it is a great game!
never saw what it looked like in beta or before 1.4 except for screenshots and videos on youtube, but after playing between 50-100 Public / Faction contracts over the weekend , I cant really find much wrong with the game considering it is free-to-play.
I would recommend anyone who like me was put off by the negative press and lukewarm response from many gamers on launch to give it a try.
Its true CCP aren't exactly reinventing the wheel with the core gameplay mechanics, but when you add in the market features and the exciting possibilities of further integration with EVE, there is so much potential still.

I agree it has alot of potential, but it had alot of potential a year ago too... lots of things have lots of potential but that doesnt change the current state of affairs. And in its current state it's just very disappointing.

I've played it since beta, and it's had slow, steady improvement.
It's a fun game now. Not amazing, but it's fun. If CCP can implement the FW changes they talked about at EVE Vegas, it'll be a big improvement.
DUST is still waiting on things that CCP said would be coming soon back at Fanfest, however. So as always, I'll believe it when I see it. |

From what I've understood EVE was in the same place when it was Dusts age. Lots of doom and gloom predictions. Dust has more than its fair share of problems, but a decent portion of negative press comes from people flat out not being able to handle the meat grinder. Definitely not a game for everyone. As Tia said, check it out for yourself before passing judgment. |

I appreciate many players here are disappointed with the game and see it is a distraction which takes precious resources away from our beloved EVE. But we have been recruiting DUST players this week after deciding to jump in with both feet and while its true most of the Dusties are console gamers who know very little about EVE online, once they start to learn about it they are excited to know more and we've already had two new pilots sign up for the 14 day free trial on EVE as a direct result.
Thanks. |

My experience with the console crowd in dust has been mostly positive. Over time I have come to the conclusion that the pc/console divide doesn't really exist. Everyone just wants to blow **** up.
If you are starting to co-ordinate dust ops, try and keep the pc masterrace types under control. Mercs can take jobs anywhere, and moving between corps is easy to do once you have friends in-game. |

I think the game is almost to the point of unplayable. I have a panasonic big tv, not widescreen or high-def and the graphics are not much better than a sinclair spectrum. I can barely see anything on screen, when skillchanging/market buying, my game locks and i have to logoff. I'm not gonna waste money on a decent tv that may enhance my gameplay. I think it was a waste of resources and considering ccp decided to make it console only after the game was funded by eve-online players on pc, i see that as a slap in the face. COD is much more playable and much more enjoyable. When i first downloaded this game from the ps store, i had to upgrade my membership to get the game ( so not exactly free ) the game was maybe 4 gig ( may be wrong ) , but as i was on a 3 mobile broadband contract, i had to take my ps3 to a buddies house where i wasn't limited with broadband allowance or download speed. I have patched it since maybe 3 times. ( the first download, it only played in black and white). I am very very dissapointed with this game and tbh, i have little inclination to play it. |

Blame your TV, not the game. On the plus side, if you get a TV that belongs in this decade instead of the last millenium, you get to use your better TV to play EVE on as well. 2. You have no say in what any company decides to spend its money on. At most, you stop using services offered by that company and get more people to do so, in an attempt to boycott/blackmail. Would you be pissed off if CCP spent all its earnings on free beer for its employees instead of Dust? Also, different teams work on Dust and EVE. 3. You can download and play for free, no PS Plus needed. It was only needed in closed beta, or you could get an invite around then as well. 4. Get better internet.
That said, if you don't enjoy it, don't play it. Leave your character to accrue passive SP and one day when you get a better TV and better internet connection, come back and see if the game has improved. |
