In the merc world, there is always someone better, waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The best merc corps out there are small and have significant experience flying together.
Recently, we wardec'd an alliance. The CEO completely dismissed us due to our size. This isn't the first time we are grossly underestimated, but rest assured this makes the dec all the more fun. Obviously, some folks aren't aware that a small force have some significant advantages in a war.
The war starts in about 22 hours. Stay tuned for more as this war progresses. This should prove both entertaining and educational. |

I agree. A recent mark underestimated me, they believed I was honest.
Cost them an incursion fit ship they had purchased two hours beforehand. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=238931 - an idea for a new form of hybrid PVE/PVP content. The difference between an enemy and a friend is that you stab your enemies in the front. |

The best merc corps out there keep their achievements quiet and don't feel the need to chestbeat over their skill. Highsec is a sad disappointment compared to what it used to be.

We never underestimate anyone. Small merc groups dont make much mistakes and are hard to kill as they are used to fly as a solid group. A large group of beginning pvp players still kill you because of the numbers. Every pro leet pvp player starts somewhere, so why couldn't he be in an unknown group so far. etc etc....
GÇ£If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.GÇ¥ GÇò Sun Tzu

Tora, my friend, this post isn't about Marmite. You guys always show us love and good fights. Our wardecs have always been mutually fun. Here's a little more of the story. To protect the innocent, we shall call the underestimating alliance leader "Derp."
About a year ago, we wardec'd an alliance. When we tried to convo the alliance leader, they didn't "have the time for us." We were insignificant. Hurt and challenged, we extended the wardec for about 8 months. That alliance leader eventually stepped down. I'm not claiming we were the cause of his political demise, but I have to admit, I felt a little guilty.
Back to the present...we wardec'd an up and coming alliance who claim to be PVP'ers. One of our directors convos the alliance leader. Why, you ask? The alliance name reminded our director of a game he used to play. So naturally, we wanted to reach out and create a common ground. Afterall, this is a game of relationships and love. During the private convo, the alliance leader was rude and angry, which was totally acceptable and understandable behaviour. However, this is where he completely underestimated us:
Our Director > do your research on us before you keep typing Derp> im not even gonna go and spend 5 min on it. Derp > a high sec corp with less then 20 members. Derp > i could not care less about it :)
Our response? ha...Haha. BruHAHAHAHAhaa aaaa *thunder*...*flashes*
We have found our new purpose in Eve. The War begins 18:58 today....more to follow |

This war will start off in Highsec, but I imagine it will quickly lead to other secs. We found a lowsec area, which many of their players like to hang out at. So griefing 101...2 minutes until the war starts and the war target is preparing for battle.
First mistake - Everyone prepares for a large climatic battle the moment the war goes active. Deny them this fight, and their frustration begins to build. Obviously, a small, outnumbered gang can't attack a much larger opponent, so we begin by parking an afk cyno alt in their home system....and wait. As I type, they taunt us through chats. With each passing moment, their anticipation of a fight drives them to insanity as they realize....nothing is happening.
Deny access and opportunity, divide their ranks and forces, and destroy their morale and resoucres. Let the mind games begin.

Just because someone couldn't care less about a highsec war dec doesn't mean that you're being underestimated. I'm glad that you're able to spin some sort of narrative out of someone else's apathy and keep the game fun for yourself though. Keep doing that.

apathy and disrespect are two different things you clearly don't know the differences, so pull up a chair sexy, let old naggers teach ya.
Apathy would go like this.................. see how nothing happened? if he was apathetic he wouldn't have showed interest in us and wouldn't have convoed us cuz he wouldn't care...

Day 2 of the 300 day war. It's hard to keep an entire alliance in check - operating as one well oiled war machine. Many alliances have tried with varying degrees of success, but there is always that "One Guy" who doen't listen and makes everyone look bad. He may be a loner who thinks this is just a game, or he may even have a real life outside Eve - I know...go figure. One griefing technique is to identify that One Guy and hunt him down. Nothing hurts morale more than a shiny "One Guy" going down in flames.
This is where I need to introduce, The Detective (alias). The Detective adds hundreds of war targets to his watch list, runs locates using his specialized locator alt, and posts his locates on a web site for our corp to use. Sometimes, he finds a juicy target and hides it from the rest of us, but that is another story for another day....Today's story is about the Detective and the One Guy.
To the reformed carebear gone wild griefer with no life other than his outdated laptop, a warm beer and a soggy ham sandwich, a kill can be a wonderous thing that brings hours of joy. Let me be clear, I'm not talking about those insta-blap kills on a station. Those are ok, but I'm talking about the deliciously sweet kill with the seldom seen plex warming the inside of a war target's cargo hold. Normally the elusive plex shuttle would be sweet enough, but today, the Eve gods have indeed smiled upon us by delivering to us a plex battleship! Sitting beside the Eve gods, the loot fairy conveyed her approval and allowed the plex to drop! Come on....everyone knows, plexes don't drop!
Wait...wait....wait...the story does have a somewhat sad ending. Shortly after demise of that One Guy, he either rage quit his corp or he was asked politely to leave. The damage is done. Griefers 1, Derp Alliance 0. |
