Hi CCP. According to the official fanfest site, tickets for the fanfest will be available "soon".
Not to put too much pressure on you, but you are aware that the cost of international flights increases as the chronological proximity to the departure date shrinks, right?
I can't really justify spending 3k on flights and accommodation until you start selling the tickets and hence lock on the date irrevocably, but if I have to book in January, that sum could increase by 10-15 percent.
Anyway, if you could start selling so we could start booking, that'd be awesome. |

+1 with the OP. Couldn't come to last year's fanfest because flights where too costly. Booking in advance really helps. |

or if you're lucky get last minute flights cheaper. But agreed, the earlier... the better!
Now if only CCP would sell flights with in-game ISK things would be uber.

Yeah, hurry up already! I'm hoping to make FF2012 my first one, but if flight costs go up much further I won't be able to afford it. |

The ticket prices themselves shouldn't be the cost-prohibitive factor compared to lodging and the flight itself. If you can afford the flight you may as well book it now and just buy the tickets later once they do go on sale.
Personally I'm waiting to see what if there's a package deal on the flight and lodging like there was the last time I went (2007... way too long ago.) Or now that I think about it maybe it was just a deal on the flight itself, since IcelandAir was a co-sponsor of the 2007 FF. |

Nah man, the point is that the date isn't guaranteed until the tickets are on sale. We could all book for the 22nd, and then CCP could go "changed our mind, its on the 18th now!". But once they've sold the tickets, that date will be set. |

Agreed that the sooner they start selling tickets and the cheaper the price, the more chances I and guys like me have to get to fanfest. Need to request vacation, book tickets and hotel and 15-25% price difference on flight and accomodation might be decisive between yes and no.
But somehow I think CCP ain't looking for players like me to come to fanfest. We can't afford 1000$ designer jeans. |

Yes they where. So the fanfest will probably not be the Nr.1 priority since the 29th will be here soon. - [yellow]English only please. Zymurgist[/yellow] |

The too high flight price was what stopped me from coming last year... And that was a terrible pain.
But I guess that with my current money status I'd need a 6-month pre-booking to be affordable for me. "Have you had your morning coffee?" -> the Coffee Lovers Brewing Club is recruiting! |

Last year the tickets came as part of the Icelandair Package that included filgihts, accomodation, a few optional 'special' events (blue lagoon, goldern circle) and ofc Fanfest Tickets. I'd also suggest you get the transfer bus (-ú20) from the airport as its about an hours drive (unless you have a small fortune for the Taxi fare).
If you go for just flights & accomodation I think you're looking at around -ú400, the events were about -ú50--ú100 each IIRC. Tickets (from 2009 and IIRC again) were about -ú70.
Don't forget food and booze on top of all of that and be aware its more expensive in Iceland than in the UK.
Hope that helps slightly. |

It is an amazing place, and this time is very close to the central city. It is easily within walking distance of pretty much all the hotels and guesthouses downtown.

What's the duty free allowance in Iceland?
How much cognac can I pack into a suitcase otherwise populated by 5 pairs of socks, a toothbrush and a spare T-shirt? Malcanis' Law: Any proposal justified on the basis that "it will benefit new players" is invariably to the greater advantage of older, richer players.

How much booze you can pack depends entirely on whether the two lonely gentlemen just chilling out that you walk past once you get your baggage we call "customs" decide they care. I've seen one dude fined for one bottle over the limit and watched people roll out cases of beer and liquor. There is no line from a line perspective. |
