^^^ There's only so much they can do... I doubt doing a CCG takes out too many resources that could have been used to improve the game.

Are you foolish enough to think that Programmers are working on this? Get a clue.

Wonder what feeling it is to hold the covetor card.

How can I pick up a series of Beta cards. Enough to make a deck would be could to toy around with.
Living here in Seattle I can probally get a few local stores to put some attention to it.

Out of a staff of approximately 60 developers, we have one working on this full-time (who has zero server or programming experience), four if you count the artists who have contributed new artwork to the card game. The rest of the Dev team are working in the areas that they are supposed to.
A well done CCG is a great marketing opportunity to bring new players into the universe. New players means more subscriptions, more subscriptions means more income, more income will be spent on more Devs and hardware. Personally, I do not see how this can be a bad scenario.

Hmmm... I say bring it on *smiles* As a Collector I will be buying these Cards and the best part is knowing some of my money is going towards Improvements to the Online Game. An all win situation in my books.

so kieron, if I play syncophant, will you make a "Bared Bel'Medar" card? My ego isnt NEARLY as stroked as it could be. actually, there are some characters who have changed theingame face of the well, game, and I think they deserve cards: Duke Droklar Stavros Jade Contanine KIAINKz TRIGGER Eternal Dark Xirtam SirMolle
Oh, and obviously myself. Make them super rare cards that you can only have one in deck of and and be uber.
If thse idea is actually taken seriously, i'd talk to the above players and ask thier favorite ships. course, you could cheat and just look at thier skill sheets and see where they have specialized.. and look at thier hangrs and what ship they are currently in. Any word on the CCG? Any new developments? I bought some Magic Cards over the weekend and I was thinking to myself, "I could be holding the Navy Issue Megathron instead of this Nephalim."
Please, please, please hurry! Of course, I say that about my wine too--I understand you can't rush perfection. I guess Im just anxious is all.

Has there ever been a better reason to stand outside CCP's offices, jumping up and down like a 4-year-old, screaming "I WANT IT NOW"?
I think not. ---- "Well in this case, he's being flamed, and rightly so, for whinning about a game mechanic that doesn't actually exist." -Lorth |

Thank you for saying that,Frezik, because it needed saying! Although, I can't jump anymore. The plastic hip I have keeps me from doing such things. Instead, I'll just pound my fists in the ground and kick my legs in and out. Matthias DuBastyra Imperiadux of House Draconis

im probably eve's worst ccg junky. im a card collector, trader and player of just about every ccg out there.
and i have to say i have deep reservations about a eve CCG.
because it's a novolty. the player base of such a game is limited to the size of the eve user base, the distrbution of card is going to be mostlightly low scale so that mean you will probably end up having to get the cards shiped to you directly much like E0N. and thats frikkin expensive for the adverage deckbox of 60 cards.(like $20 p&p)
second ccg are half about collecting half about playing. beyond the limited chance to play others you have to take into acount game time. for that you need games that are extreamly fast to setup and start (yu-gi-oh has 1 of the most easily playable yet challanging formats around atm) with games lasting max of 40min for a balanced match.
the closes CCG to eve theme of scifi is probably the startrek one, that game is a NIGHTMARE to play and is just horrible.
on the other hand the lack of a good sci-fi CCG would alow for a good eve version to fill he hole, if it was done on a large scale. Magic TG is probably the best market model for that size of game as itis the only 1 of the top 3 CCG that has not had a HIT KIDS TV show to back itup.
The EVE ccg does allow for unique opertunities to be linked with ingame event's, goals, acheivments, awards ranks and ship ownership.
say in the new kali award system some 1 earns a award for 1000kills in pvp, irl they get a card to refelct that. or when the salvador serp+ titan story ends the person who lays the final blow gets a card "slayer of serpentis" for example.

Well, Xplosiv
I think you make some very valid points but I also think that you are making a few assumptions.
1) The game is gonna be released world wide all at once. Considering the fan base, as you have, the game will more than likely be limited to the online gamers, initially. However, as the popularity of the game catches on, we just might see the market explode in requests for more cards.
2.) The game mechanics are going to be complex and not gamer friendly. In the article published in EON #2 on the topic, the game designers announced that the game has very similar mechanics to Magic: The Gathering. Now Magic, as most everyone knows, was the first CCG created and is still considered the most popular and most circulated spanning the globe and printed in several different languages from Chinese to Portugese.
So, with all things considered, I think EVE has a very good chance of filling that Sci-fi niche you mentioned. All it would take is careful planning and making sure not to over extend one's resources.
I'm setting $100 bucks aside to order the first pallet of cards as they come off the printer racks. My friends are all doing the same.

guys!!!!!!
thanks for doing this, i used to play swccg and think that eve is an excellent premise for a ccg. is this entirely in house or is a game company like decipher part of it?
i work at mcmurdo station in antarctica, as you can imagine we get isolated in our rooms sometimes from the weather......the satellite usually goes down too, it would be nice to have something to play with besides myself!

Please tell me there will be a Soon(tm) card. Something like "Your last action was nullified as that feature isn't available yet. It will be implemented "Soon""

Originally by: Gretek Lal Eve a card game? Interesting.
I tried to get into Magic, but unfortunately I found that there are very, very few players even remotely close to my age. I have no interest in sitting cross legged on the floor at our nearby card/comic shop and playing a game with a bunch of 10-15 year olds.
Most of the players i know are 21+. I even know a few 30+.
