Hi.
I do not understand the point of Federation Navy Comet in PvP situations.
Imperial navy slicer has its point in range bonus. Stay at 20 km and melt everything. With 125 % damage bonus at level 5 skills... Caldary Navy Hookbill got 3 very much bonused launchers. Rockets are point by themself, actually. Republic Fleet Firetail has speed , 125 % damage bonus and a rocket launcher. So the point is to use speed and weapons, that do not require cap.
But how I supposed to use Federation Navy Comet? In factional warfare, for example... with 100 % damage bonus and 3 scout drones it will not make much against other 3 racial frigates... Nos is useless against caldary or minamtar as their weapons do not require cap. Should I use 3 EWAR drones?

The point of the Comet is that it does 300dps:
[Federation Navy Comet, rawr] Pseudoelectron Containment Field I Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
1MN Afterburner II X5 Prototype Engine Enervator Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S E5 Prototype Energy Vampire
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I Small Anti-Explosive Pump I
Hobgoblin II x3 Hornet EC-300 x3
ec drones are for ohsh*t moments only. You overload AB, click approach and melt face. Do not warp in to Hookbills or Slicers but they are safe to engage if coming to you.
Only use Void vs cruisers and higher. |

The Navy Comet is the quintessence of gallente warfare for the most part. Extremely agile, very fast - and wonderful blasterdps with a great slotlayout to back it up.
When it comes to speed/gank-ratio, the navy comet is only surpassed by a daredevil. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=288823&find=unread - Looking for a handful of well-versed EU pilots. Especially interested in hyperactive dscanners. |

I would consider the Comet to be the best of the faction frigates. It's not a one trick pony like the Slicer is and it can pretty much counter all of the other faction frigates when fit and flown correctly.
A fit to get you started:
[Federation Navy Comet, Rail AB Plate] Magnetic Field Stabilizer II 200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I 1MN Afterburner II
150mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S 150mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S [empty high slot]
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I

But yea the Comet is by far the best navy frigate in my humble opinion.

I put your Incursus fit on a Comet, yes. Or at least something that comes very close to it. Didn't know you flew Comets though. |

Ok I'm talking ****...
All the navy frigs are good and definately something you don't want to engage without a gameplan. Slicer being the easiest to counter if you have a counter to hand.
Other than the slicer all ships are incredibly flexible in fitting so you never really know what your are going to warp into. |

The point of the Navy Comet was to drop on people with your flashing police lights of awesomeness, then chase down those that try to flee from you while you quote cheesy lines from cop movies. . .

Yes, but every ship has counters and checks to keep it in balance. This is just another case of where you have to choose your targets. It's not all fun and games for that kiting Condor, he only has a limited set of ships he can engage and is clearly completely balanced in the metagame. It has a limited target selection, limited meaning almost anything with guns and a few drone boats due to outrunning the drones, and has to be careful not to get caught when orbiting at 30km with Loki boosts, however hard it is to get caught.
Please notice the sarcasm dripping from this post, by the way. |

The Comet can also kite at warp disruption range pretty well in its own right. Target selection is important, but it is by absolutely miles the most versatile frigate out there.
Does blasters up close, incursus-style scram kite, dual prop, a passable neut intercept and also a decent kite. The drones make, not break, this ship. And it's very, very fast.
This fit isn't 100% perfect and I'm sure people will chip in with tweaks, but try this:
150mm Railgun II / Navy Iridium 150mm Railgun II / Navy Iridium
Warp Disruptor II Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I Medium F-S9 Regolith Shield Induction
Pseudoelectron Containment Field I Magnetic Field Stablizer II Micro Auxiliary Power Core II Overdrive Injector System II
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I Small Core Defence Field Extender I Small Core Defence Field Extender I
Hobgoblin IIs
With all skills at 5 (and you really need top-end gunnery, drone and nav skills to wring every last drop of performance from it), you get 7378.5 EHP / 154 DPS with guns overheating. Cap lasts 2m 10s. Plus you're doing this at a max speed of 3,891 m/s. Generally you can afford to keep at distance at about 18,250m - 18,500m rather than any orbiting, overheating the WDII if your opponent is attempting to wriggle out of it. |

Arrest. Brings to mind the amusing albeit impossible notion of being able to 'scoop' pods into cargo, 'arresting' the criminal. |

If you're soloing, then a rails fit works better due to more range. A Blaster fit solo is easy to counter unless you work hard and fast to get in close and tackle first.
With rails, you get a bit less DPS, but more range and can sit 7500m off with antimatter, which is a good range for all the modules.
If something is able to stay outside that range and you can't get to it, switch to iridium which will push range out to about 27km with falloff. That together with the drones will be able to hassle them and you should be able to extract yourself ready to reset and try again.
Blaster fit works really well in fleets. |
