Does anyone know of any EVE-themed levels for UT, or a fully-realised ground-assualt TC for BF2. Personally I'd like to see an EVE mod for Space Empires IV Deluxe, but that's just me (easy to do, apparently).
(In English) If you know of any projects to apply some EVE lovin' to commercial or freeware games, or if you intend to create something along such lines (even if it's in RPG Maker XP, or some other authoring system -- text adventure anyone?) please post here.
Thank you

Shhh!I'm busy thinking about complicated things you wont understand. |

Surely they would be a violation of the EULA, so anyone posting is going to get banned?

I dont' see how it would be a violation. There are plenty of mods out there, and so long as you don't make money from it, then theres no real reason that a company would want to sue the creators anyways, unless it was horribly bad and actually emberassed the company

Well, when Star Wars: Empire at War comes out - I was toying with the idea of possibly making an Eve mod for it.
Then again, most of my ideas don't really get past the "hey, that would be neat" stage.

Anyone remember when LucasArts stamped down hard on the Star Wars mod for Total Annihilation? Seven years on and you have a great mod for a (still) great game. I think developers have since realised the commercial potential of a well-made mod. ----------------------------------------------- Editor, EON http://www.eve-online.com/eon/Issue#002 available now! |

Ah, I see.
I apologise. I had assumed that this was a way to trap people who had violated the EULA. I was wrong.
It was an attempt by CCP to get their grubby corporate claws in to my Eve text adventure*!!!1!one!1!
* Yes it exists. No it isn't finished. No you can't have it.

If you havnt already, check out TA:Spring. Its TA 100% ported into a 3D environment with proper projectile trajectories and everything; a JOY to play.

Back on topic: I was GOING to make a Homeworld2 Mod based on Eve (the shipclasses and races port perfectly) but didnt see enough interest or others willing to help.

I've long thought that a UT2004/5/6/whatever Mod would be absolutely great - possibly themed around a caldari "splinterz" deathmatch environment - or using the levels to create assault missions - boarding party capturing a Cruiser and unpluging the pod, or the few crew stopping it, or the likes. That of a HL2 storyline driven game. so many stories that could be done there that lurk in the back of my head, if I had access to the IP and a team able to produce it.
would need a team to work on it, sadly, and having worked in the mod community long enough to know the realities of how hard it is, would never want to try to make that solo....

My roommate made a Stephen Colbert scenario for Starcraft (we're still honing the design, actually), so maybe I could make one for EVE...nothing like a full UT mod, but still cool. -------------------------------------[04:04:04] Tom Thumb > for a nut case you rawk

Yea, it just took yeeears to make. Not that I don't like the SWTA guys, but boy they're slow.
I mean, not like my TC wasn't long in the making, but I actually picked it up and took from 25% done to finished in 5 weeks.
(TA: Dark Suns 2004, for reference)
Anyway, a SE4 (isn't 5 out soon?) mod would be interesting, but I could forsee some issues (yes, done some SE4 modding too :P).
Personally I don't go for derived mods tho, I prefer origional IPs like Dark Suns - or ones I have worked on, like Starfire (which SE draws its lineage from..)

[dumb question] Is there a difference between SE4 gold and SE4 deluxe? I actually haven't played my copy of SE4 gold for a while now, but now that you mention it I might lose this weekend. (damn you!) [/dumb question]

SE4 - most AWESOME 4x game out there..
Would be awesome if eve picked up a few things from there (relating to colony management, population etc).
but eve themed SE4 - shouldn't be too hard to make.
would you want just the ship etc icons? or are you looking for full AI etc?
I've done a couple of shipsets in the past for personal use, but the AI was beyond me.
We have SE4 competitions at work :) -----

ok here you go. eve + UT *more screens here*
This was for a class project I did most of it on my own (had one guy help with textures). took me 3 weeks. it was based on the gallante station but had to make some changes to the layout for it to be somewhat playable.
I have to run to work now but I will be back. --------------------------------- What doesn't kill you makes you injured.
