sword fight at the end of equalibrium is awsome, alltho over too fast
the hose fight in transporter 2 is pretty damn impressive, also some of the fights from the matrix (original) are damn good.
also one of the bond films had some damn good sword fights in it, but cant remember which it was
and kill bill, and pretty much anything with jet li, or that chow jung fat (sp)

Jackie Chan "Who Am I" One of the worst Movies I've ever seen (in that the supporting actors were absolutely awful, particularly that report chick, omg woeful, she musta shagged the director)
Anyway, Fight scene on the roof of some building, Jackie vs 2 other dudes, one Chinese one Dutch (I think, looks like he does TKD). Granted I dont watch many of the older fight movies (Bruce Lee, JCVD, Chuck , etc) but that scene is one of my favs.

You know the fight scene with the TKD guy was with a wooden leg. The original footage with real TKD was way too slow for the stun. In RL fights, legs are damaging but very slow vs hands, also quiet predictable.

Legs are a viable option in a fight and can often turn it massively, although i agree that the use of hands for striking and control are much more flexible and quick. Leg work is essential - using kicks as one offs is a major no-no they should be placed within combinations. Sparring with some very good kickboxers and you learn very quickly how fast legs can be.

Depends. Only viable time to use legs are when stances are very low and up to level to the eyes of the target. When that happens, the reaction time of the target will be slow because the target cant see incoming hands or legs movements. I find using legs on a target's soft spot between the legs often get the best result. I may be wrong.

Well did buy (I know I know) a dvd with Chuck Norris called Invasion U.S.A. and now while it is not great the fightscene... it is atleast hillarious.
When the terrorist are tricked to enter that federal building they all run (probably between 50 and 100 terrorists) inside the building shooting around themself, not really aiming and ****... just shooting and they all move in a big "blob".
I suppose you got to see the scene to see how it is hillarious. Think I have never laughed so much of a moviescene as when I saw that.
Now best fightscene ... I kinda liked Star Wars episode 3, the opening scene where all the battleships where shooting at eachother!!!
Here at the cinema we had just got a new soundsystem and it was awesome!!!! ---------------------------------------------- "When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things." 1 cor. |

The fight in the subway mens room in "The Warriors".
Best described as a finely choreographed ballet, rather than a true fight scene. The fight with the Baseball Fury's in the park isn't bad either.

Wow, someone else shares my favorite.
I've always thought the fight between John Cusack and that small gentleman by the lockers in Grosse Pointe Blank has to be, hands down, the most brutally intense fight scene ever. No flash, no bravado, just two professional murderers trying their damnedest to kill each other.
I'm also pretty partial to the opening scene of Blade. |

Just started watching Project A Part 2 where Jackie Chan and co. have gone to a club to arrest the gang boss and find themselves heavily outnumbered. Some fantastic bruising fights there.
Also Zatoichi, the recent remake by Takeshi Kitano is awesome for its sword fights. Just watch the scene with two thugs testing their brand new sword on a supposedly harmless old blind guy!
I have a massive collection of Chinese/Japanese films with Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Sammo Hung (he sure can move for a big guy!), and many others and hardly watch any hollywood movies so much anymore as the fight scenes and stunt work is often covered up by bad CGI. Asian films have got it just right.

These days, Asian martial art movies are just as bad as Hollywood. Too much special effects are always bad.

Edited by: Khaldorn Murino on 06/02/2006 16:54:49 Bourne Indentity. I thought there were some great fight scenes in here. The one between the bourne and the assasin who broke into his house was class I thought.
The fight scene in grosse point blank I wasnt expecting, but it was damn fine. The fights in bourne identity reminded me of it.
Bourne supremacy fights scenes disappointend me tho, as they use that dodgy cutting technique which while may make fights look fast paced, doesnt let you see any of the action really.
Watch Bourne Indentity tho, class film -

Out of 5 new Asian movies that I have come across per calendar year, I may be lucky to get treated to a nice movie. Funny thing is, some Asian countries that are just about to enter the big world of film making like Thailand can make decent movies without too much special effects.
You have definitely got to agree that older shows like Star Wars using miniature models have much better production than some movies using computerised effects that we see today. It feels so realistic back then compared to now. ----------------

NOW
And once you finished watching Ong-Bak,(AND if you like it) wait for the next movie by the same actor, called TOM_YUM GOONG (might spelt it wrongly) and watch martial arts fighting at its finest. TBH the story line is pretty basic but that doesnt denounce the fact that the fighting scenes is awesome
