Reason I am asking is that a while back someone started a beuaty pagant for cute picture profiles (no search on this forum so I can't find it again), and there were a number of good looking types. But is this simply the "lara croft" syndrome of "if you have too look at an avatar for hours at a time it might as well be a pretty one" or are these actualy that rare spieces called "Girl Players"????
So hands up if you are a girl (tell me why you play) and hands up if you are a guy but with a female avatar - again tell me why.
It's something that has been scratching at my mind now for a long time.

I'm a guy irl, playing with a female avatar. Why? Dunno really. Maybe It's because once in another MMORPG game someone told me that people tend to give free stuff to female chars more. I know that's why I made another female char in that game after that. I know it sounds lame :)
Now I always make at least one female character in such games. Not for the reason I mentioned above though. I think it's more of a personal thing, because I like grrls that have "girlpower" so to speak. You know, those girls who know what they want and know how to get things done. No whining, but working. My avatar is just a girl trying to survive in a harsh eve-universe.

As one of the rare girls that play Eve, I was initially struck by how few girls play it compared to other games, such as EQ and DAOC.
When I played EQ and AC we had a pretty high percentage of girls, including many hubby/wife teams. One guild in AC had over 20 hubby/wife (or gf/bf) teams. I have seen none of that here. Not one.
Maybe it is because girls are not as interested at guys in hard core SF/space stuff, or maybe it is the fact that the box makes it appear that the game is all PvP based. I got into it by accident and got interested in the markets and manufacturing - which happens to also be my RL job.
I still have little or no interest in PVP - which creates kind of a problem for me, because since I have pretty much maxed out what I can do in the industry arena, there is almost nothing new left.
CCP seems intent on making this more PVP oriented, but I would rather dominate the world economically with my feminine wiles and treachery. I can see why girls may not stick around here long even if they do play...

I'm a girl. My boyfriend got me into the game. We are in the same corp, mine and fight together, etc. So here's one bf/gf team!  I agree though, I haven't seen any others in EVE. In UO, they were everywhere.

Ok, when I saw this thread with like 2 replies I was like...ummm I am not going to answer this. But ok, I have also found it strange that there are so few female players on eve. Even though it is a space game and all, I still expect there to be 1 girl to every 10 guys...even if they are just playing because their bf is (btw I am trying to get my hubby to play *cackle*).
Probably my biggest complaint about eve (all bugs aside) is the large emphasis it puts on PvP combat. Maybe I am alone here, but I purchased Eve because I understood it to be more about interstellar commerce and researching of technology. My idea to dominate Eve revolved around creating unique BPs and working for a R&D corp. I guess for now I will play Space-Miner with the occasional shot fired.
Maybe CCP should advertise in ummm YM or Seventeen *lol*

Well, I'm a woman...
I used play Ultima Online and really liked the Crafts and the Thieving
EVE looked like a decent alternative and change of style!
Of course I've now been killed by a Stargate Camper, creative can wait... I want his corpse to feed to my Drones! 
But not likely, I'm a pathetic Scientist type 
I use female Characters of course, but often a token male too

Umm,...I don't understand what you are trying to say here, but I am guessing its not very intelligent since no one else seems to get it either. I think you are trying to say something about us offering cyber-sex to get peoiple to join??
