I guess this means you don't have to leave the system forever. http://forums.sekuragroup.net/files/eve/Haishard_sm.jpg

This personally isnt my opinion. But I'm wondering if the advice of Pirates and PVPers that is given to carebears would go down as well in this situation.
*clears throat*
"Don't fly what you cant afford to lose."
"Can I have your stuff?"
He was a probably a miner fed up with being ganked by pirates not keeping their word and decided to take it out on you.

I don't know, I mean if I were to tell someone "leave this system forever", that doesn't imply that I won't kill them. It could very well mean "leave this system forever after you limp to the station in your pod" and I just didn't feel like writing that much.
Now, if he took the cash you offered, and then killed you, that is a different issue altogether. I can't tell whether cash was actually paid for a free passage, or just offered. -- You can't take the sky from me. |

lets see in that system i have paid a ransom twice, once i lost my ship the other time i was podded (after paying). Another person there was killed and podded when a pirate said i surrender to give time for a mate to arrive, the surrended pirate then happily, with help, killed and podded the guy he had (supposedly surrendered to), and you wonder why nothing a pirate said is believed!!!!!!!!!!
I will never pay a ransom again, my ship will be destroyed anyway so i might as well not hand over all my isk as well

This pirate attacked a peacefull miner. As the miner fight back and pirate noticed, he cant win., the pirate started to talk abotu randsom (randsom me).Miner wanted the pirate leaves system forever. And the miner stopped to fire at him, but after 15 secnds of talks he's armor dropped from 75% to 25%. Then the miner started to fire back as not to fire would mean to die. there was not the time for clarifieng situation, as the armor dropped too fast. after that, 2 jettisons worth of few million ISK dissapeared from the belt. after that the agressor claims to have not shoot the jettisons, he says the sentence 'leave system forever' means randsom. and firing back in a ship threating situation is for him a bad thing not worth good pilots.
pirating doesn't mean only that you can shoot other people, it means also that other people can shoot you too. the game mechanics was created according to this logic.

the Soyemia din't give any cash or whatever. for him 'leaving a system' is a randsom. and he believes, if he fly to gate and jump away he has 'payd' a randsom. there was no money transferred to anyone in this case.

he randsomed himself... he wanted to be randsomed, but the majko didn't ask or received any ISK. majko wanted Soyemia to leave the system. and Soyemia means 'leaving the system' means 'paying' a randsom. i never heard about such a randsom (leaving system).

oh i can just see all the u are a pirate u deserve no honor. what that miner did was 100%correct because u play the game how u want.
in all honesty u should never have thought of useing a ship fitted with guns to attack a player the high slots are only for mineing lasers
but in all reality u said what most pvpers know already u cant trust a carebear. Signature graphics are permitted, as far as i know text is not a graphic, so ya my sig please |

No money transfered = no promise broken. Asking someone to leave the system doesn't mean that the one who is doing the asking isn't going to blow the asked one up.
If fact, it makes perfect sense to blow the asked one up. If you ask someone nicely to leave the system forever, they will forget that a minute later. You blow up their ship, and they will remember it for a long time (possibly coming back with a yet bigger ship, but that's for another topic).
I don't think anyone has been dishonest here, but that's just me.

Basically what we have here is a 'pirate' not skilled enough to fight anything that does not have its hi-slots filled with mining lasers. The 'pirate' thought for some reason he deserved some mercy from the miner he had attacked, at which point the 'pirate' offered to pay a ransom. Too bad, so sad for you mister 'pirate'.
Oh, and for the future: don't fly anything you can't afford to loose, and certainly don't go 'pirating' in that same ship either. But I guess you know that now, eh?

Don't worry, once I jumped a brutix and a rax, their friend got ****ed and challenged my rax to a duel, he had a megathron.
My rax won.
Later he challenged me again, rax to rax.....at the last second I changed the location cause I caught him using the word "we" and when he arrived I killed him fast enough that when his buddy in a deimos arrived I got the hell out.
Later I was in a rax and my buddy in a rupture.....we they found us and they had 1 crow, 1 ferox, 1 thorax, and 1 caracal.....we win.
Goes to show you can never trust the wussy carebears.

let me get this straight.
Miner is going along solo mining in .4, in a megathron.
would-be pirate Soyemia comes along, in a rupture, and attacks the solo mining megathron.
megathron gets away, and comes back with a thorax, and returns fire on the would-be pirate, then ransoms them(essentially)
so you then stop shooting, ... but did you say anything? did you say "I give, you win, I'll leave!" or something... ?
honestly I don't see the problem from the described situation. in fact it sounds funny as hell.
IMO, you(the would-be pirate) were lucky, you got a chance to run away. he SHOULD have been able to have fitted a webber, warp scrambler and like 3 flights of medium drones. were you using WCS? now maybe I'm underestimateing cruiser offensive power, but I'd reckon even just sitting there and not shooting, a BS with medium drones could "tough it out" til the drones ate the webbed cruiser alive...
you agressed, and bit off more than you could chew, when you were ALREADY overextended(in a ship you couldn't afford to lose) its entirely your own fault. the miner did nothing wrong, except give you a chance to get away, by switching ships and not allowing his drones to eat you initially.
at least thats my opinion.

Honor issues aside (perhaps you could post the chatlogs, if you want more informed opinions on this subject), a pirate lamenting the loss of his ship is somewhat... distateful.
The fact that it "hit your gaming" so much shows in great detail that the thought of losing your ship never occurred to you. Yet you go pirating?
Again: without the chatlogs, I cannot judge whether or not there is an honor issue here... but the fact that your intention was to engage in a fight while flying a ship you cannot afford, which seems to be the core of your problem right now, is entirely and squarely upon your shoulders mate.
Better luck, and better thinking, next time.

Any carebear will shoot back if they feel the odds are in their favor, and will almost always be dishonest and smacktalk.
Doesn't mean they're not a carebear, and I find the most trustworthy people in the game are criminals, cause they are the paranoid ones.

Jesus.
So a pirate-wannabee gets spanked by his mark, comes here to cry a river about it, and then has the gall to generalize "all carebears are dishonest" ...
Piracy is a riksy business.
Victims are allowed to defend themselves.
Generalization is bad.
Heck, I have quite a few issues with some pirates (who podded me after I paid a ransom), and I can get pretty dense and stubborn about it, but I won't ever say that all pirates are steaming piles of horse dung like the two that didn't keep their words with me ...
