Im begining to think that maybe the whole lack of T2 ships can actualy be a good thing for EVE, now please before you go crazy, just hear me out.
Once upon a time T2 ships were rather rear, and everyone used T1 ships, this allowed the general population to have a fighting chance in gangs or solo agaisnt most ships, and then the lucky few who had T2 ships were very good fighters, however a new person to the game could generally stand a chance with a T1 ship in a fight (due to few T2 ships so mostly people flew T1)
Currently we have more people on EVE than ever before, and at the moment, the general idea is the only way you can stand a fighting chance is to have T2 ships with T2 fittings, meaning newer players, and generally if anyone decides to go with a T1 ship they will most likley die. However with more people, there are few'er T2 ships to go around.
So when T2 ships in general become rather rear, it would give most T1 pilots a chance, and not need to conform to the whole T2 ships idea. Generally alot of pilots seem to fly a T2 ship now days, leaving T1 pilots to be rather done in due to the enormas power compared with T1 fighting T2.
See if everyone flew a T2 ship there would be no point in T1, meaning T2 ships shouldnt be avaliable to everyone, they should be expensive and rear but very powerfull like they are..
Do you understand where im comming from?

Pencheven you have a very good point. I often wonder if this is the Devs goal when it comes to Hacs and long construction time T2 ships like the Recons and T2 BC's. It is obvious that as time goes by the demand for powerful T2 ships will grow, while production (assuming 24/7 alts) is a constant or actually decreases with the component nerf.
However, the issue isn't really resolved by this as Hacs are still entering the game, but mainly only for the alliance that holds the BPO. And if your Alliance doesn't have a Hac BPO and your enemies are all flying Hacs it's gonna be.....ugly unless you have some really creative tacticians or are able to field/accept more losses even if yours are lower isk losses.
There is currently a concentration of isk/power going on ingame in relation to T2 item and ship BPOs. The more ship/item BPO's your alliance owns, the more powerful your fleets are while risking less. The easier it is to make money and replace losses. The easier it is to recruit good pvpers (omg join us we give you Zealots for AF prices!). The more disposable income the alliance has for investments. Lokta knows this, BoB knows this, every good pvp alliance knows this and there is currently a quiet economic war going on in an attempt to tie up or corner the market. And if you don't think it's a POWERFUL incentive....try losing a couple of Hacs for 200m and hearing a buddy in another alliance talk about how he just got the same hac for 50m. Elve Sorrow and Drilla can effectively buy your soul for the low low price of cheap Zealots.
Of course, nothing is worse than your alliance having Hac/T2 gun/item bpos......but not the ones you can use.

eve is and always has been fueled by player greed the only way to make sure the price comes down is not to buy them......but thats never going to happen so you just have to go along in the vain hope you might get lucky in the bpo lottery.........i dont even use my zealot anymore knowing how expensive it would be to replace

If that were the case, there would be more BPOs.
There will be more (HAC) BPOs in the future (edit: or maybe limited run BPCs). We just have to wait until the new R&D system is ready and that might take some time. Imho that's not just a wish, that's almost 100% sure. (The discussions about BPO auctions for research points come into my mind.) But it's also sure that they won't release so many BPOs that the hacs become really cheap.
I just wait and relax. Maybe I'll also just post a 'cry me a river' on the day the new R&D system is ready. ___________ 'Only ships can be assembled, this is a Frigate.' |

Well i dunno, I want a cerb to run missions with cause it's a fun ship, but i'm not gonna fork 150 mill for it.
The entire T2 market is whacked and we all know it, so yeah ur prolly better off with a BS/BC for the moment. Just a pitty though that i bought my first Cerb for less then 80 mill and now there almost double that price

Same exact situation for me. I lost my Cerberus because I made a stupid mistake (not scouting out a new RMR mission). The one I lost had cost me 80 million. At the time I lost my Cerberus, the prices had already climbed to 120 million and they now seem to be going up every week. Considering my playstyle doesn't let me recuperate that kind of cash quickly, I haven't replaced it yet.
There is obviously a problem with supply here. The question is not whether everyone should be ALLOWED to get a t2 ship. If you have the money for one and the skills to fly it, nothing should prevent you from getting one. What makes the current situation insane is that now people are afraid to use them because they know how expensive they are.
I see faction cruisers on escrow for 60-70 million a piece (ie Gila) and Cerberii for 165+ million. There was a time when faction ships were rarer and pricier. They dont even have BPOs FFS!
I hope that CCP releases more BPOs for these ships. There are a lot more players now than there were when they came out, and they are ALL entitled to fly one of these ships if they have the skills and money. They should NOT have to wait several months in line with the few producers who "generously" sell to non-alliance folk.
I can see the tactical thinking in alliances keeping t2 BPOs within their alliance and I would probably think the same way in their position. That said, t2 ships have become something they should not be; a rare expensive ship that's considered irreplaceable. The fact that BPOs were released eliminates the rare and irreplaceable part, otherwise they would have been limited run BPCs dished out irregularly. The only thing it SHOULD be is expensive.

i blame the carebares buying them to run missions and more the carebares that loose them killing stupid rats
but i have seen a price drop recently in the hac market. probably to do with the new t2 bc which the agent *****s seem to be going for and the new recons which more pvpers are going for over the hacs.

definitly no
i dont want to see hacs drop to 50mils isk a piece. or everyone and his mother will be flying one.
they are specilised ratting/pvp tools and need to stay more then 150mils to continue being specilised.
