Fist mission
lvl 3 mission
Kill the blocade, situated 60 km from sentry gun 140 km from stargate.
With this mission i use my concussion smartbom, the npc pirates and npc destroyers com in perimater of 5km for and for last serpentis i use the guns and smartbom.
You never expect that a pirate shoots your npc pirates. Or while you use smarrtbom flies by you and do you get you get destroyed by concord for deliberate using your smartbom. Not only you use ship. You lose standing you lose your t2 equipment. And for you get his name he is gone throgh the gate again. And you are in egg which he tries too shoot too.
I petitions this as exploit from deliberately fly by you and making advantage of concord in not letting you too using amunitions and bombs in your mission.
But, then they say you may not use a smartbom in mission, because pirates can come and fly near you.
What is next that pirates can steal you loot freely and you get shot by concord too for that.

That's the risk you run when you use smartbombs.
Did you notice the dialogue box that pops up when you try to activate your smartbomb. It says that unintentionally hitting someone w/ your smartbomb will get you killed by concord. Even if you hit someone cloaked.
Of course you probably clicked the box to stop that from popping up. I keep that on so I dont accidently smartbomb when I dont want to.
Sorry, I have no sympathy for you.

There is a pop up warning that comes up when you use your bomb telling you of the risks you are taking.
If you have turned it off take my advice, turn it back on,and everytime you press that bomb button you will think of the risk you are about to take before commiting yourself.
Believe me,i've been there.

Yeah, can't say I have too much pitty here. I remember when I lost my first apoc because I anxidently activated my SB on a station. Now I'm very glad for the warning, has saved me from additional anxidental activations since. Moral of the story, SB popup = good.

And additional moral, "Smart bombs. . .aren't." If they were really "Smart", they'd only hit hostiles.

Sorry - I think i'm gonna take the opposite tack here. I do have sympathy for the OP.
A mission that places you 140km away from a gate with your rats. Someone coming out to the area and taking on rats is interfering with the mission. You just wouldnt be in the same area otherwise. You guys seem to be focusing on "Accidental" use of the SB. The other pilot has flown at least 130km to, when seen in the best possible light, help out a stranger with a mission.
More likely seems the OP's idea that this guy has flown out to exploit the SB. You dont accidentally fly 130km and end up within the strike radius of the SB.
Saying that, I think it would be a bit difficult to code a rule that would differenciate between a deliberate and an accidental 'attack', but that doesnt mean that CCP are right to say that this isnt an exploit. Needs looking at.

More likely hes flown out there to pick up the loot cans while the OP is busy finsihing the spawn - of course had the guy actually stolen then the smart bomb hitting him wouldnt have been a problem

Probably selected the guy and headed towards him with amwd on. bumped him and got hit. Now whether it was intentional or not to kill the guy, don't know.

0 sympathy... watch your overview... there is no reason you should get your ship or standings back. are you to blind to see the guy closing in on you? you had plenty of time to turn the smart bomb off.
I mean you were warned bye the smart bomb as well. you took the risk and were not smart enough to watch your overview to make sure no one was approaching you then its your own fault and no one should have any sympathy for you, I donĘt. then you post here pointing out how stupid you are. EVE is game that does not protect you from everything, it makes the game allot better frankly (that you can attack or be attacked anywhere, at massive risk to concord, makes the game more real, and I would be ****ed if they made it so everything was completely idiot proof). Sometimes its necessary to cull the herd of people like you.

Edited by: Empyre on 07/02/2006 18:16:58 just use some common sense. unless the mission is in deadspace, why use smartbombs at all? or why even accept the mission if you absolutely HAVE to use them and can't be slightly proactive about it?
it reminds me of the people looking for a pill that will take the weight off for them. try working WITH the world around you, not trying to force it to work with you. at least with smartbombs you get a warning.
let CCP worry about the REAL bugs like drones bouncing off your hull and trailing behind you just out of range of scoop when you tell them to return (even if you stop) or ships randomly moving from warp alignment and heading for your locked target, or the lag in systems with 5 people in them or modules staying red when you turn them off but continuously firing until empty..you get the idea.
point is, smartbombs have a specific use. its only common sense that a dumb area of effect weapon like a smartbombs will damage things around you. there is even a warning. use them in deadspace only or use your overview more and pray a cloaked pirate isn't trying to grief you.
and don't use them with drones. especially if your ganged with someone and the drones aren't yours. ----- my playstyle is anti-pirate. what does this mean? it means you'll never catch me in a valuable ship and/or setup where it can be compromised. go on, trade your ammo for the scraps you'll get. |
