1.How often would you say you use a battleship outside of PVE?
I don't use battleships for PvE. Living in a wormhole, their common use is for home defense and rolling the static
a.What role do you use it as
Neuting Bhaalgorns are probably the big one in most wormhole, with Geddons being the cheaper version.
b.Do you find it as effective as the other classes of ships
Works well for what it does with good EHP.
2.How do you feel about the current state of battleships?
a.Do you think they are fine as is or need some sort of work done
Given where I live, it would take a lot of buffs to make battleships common for me to use, to the point that they'd have to be ridiculously overpowered.
3.With the upcoming changes, battleships will be even slower and more cumbersome, how do you think this will effect your choice of using or not using a battleship?
No effect.
4.Are there specific battleships you think need to be reworked?
I'd say Raven, but the RHMLs might just turn that around. We'll see.
5.Whens the last time you flew a battleship outside of PVE?
Few days ago? Hole rolling.
a.Was it solo, gang, or in a fleet?
Gang.
b.Did you get blown up?
Nope.,
c.Did you feel that it was the right ship for the job?
Yup. Then again, that's a function of it's mass, not it's usefulness in PvP, so... v0v

Hell, I'd even fly for Goons if they offered an endless supply of free ships in which I could gallantly fly into battle on their behalf. I wouldn't necessarily agree with their philosophy or ideals, but as the guy says in the Raven + Cruise Missile **** flick, "if the price is right, I'll set the universe on fire."

Like any other ship, supers can be zerged down.......if you.can keep them on the field.....in order to do that you need a sub-cap fleet, and normally that would be a battleship doctrine.

I can't really answer all that on my phone however I will say this about them.
They have been nerfed from something that everyone aspired to have and use in PvP to something you get to shoot red crosses with.
They are not really battleships, its just a name they have left over from the day they were actually "battleships".
A T3 has equal tank. A T3 has equal dps in most cases. A T3 has better tracking. A T3 has better lock time. A T3 has better damage mitigation. A T3 has better mobility. A T3 has better resists. A ... I could go on forever. And do the same with most other large sized ships.
I'm sneaking round null at the moment in a battleship doing combat sites. It can tank 10/10's without speed tanking, sit there pump out amazing dps. Moves fast when I need it to. Cloaks up nicely. When I uncloak it doesn't take forever to lock stuff. Its an awesome battleship - its called an Ishtar.
Ironically if I was to actually use a battleship I'd need two other RR battleships to rep the first battleship because it can't tank anywhere near as well as a HAC. Why, sig radius. Cloak? When I uncloak it takes over 45 seconds, after the 10 second delay to lock a frigate.
T3's, HACS, BC should be given battleship hull graphics and we could call them Battleships because they outclass the battleship in almost every way.
There's a few people going around that will say BS are fine but they likely sit in a group of 100 people and pop people jumping from a gate or are talking fleet which is totally different. Large fleets virtually eliminate any deficiencies in a ships performance or at least mask it enough for it not to matter.
The last time I used a battleship was in Rancer lol. I took one out to 0.0 and nobody would engage it, probably thinking it was bait, and I had a cloak on it so whenever I tried to lock someone they'd warped away way before it finished locking.
I was so annoyed I fit up a battleship in Jita and pod killed some poor guy in a suicide. Then I fit a retro bleed tank megathron and took it to Rancer to suicide. Ended up getting into a fight with 2 pies but unfortunately 15 or so PL tards decided to interrupt us. |

No heavy interdictors are, you need battleships to clear those, they have beast tanks and supers have a very hard time dealing with them alone.....that and the ever lovable double bubble interdictor.

The only battleship I fly is the bhaal, battleships aint made for w-space, they put too much pressure on the holes, and are in most cases outpeformed by everything else. Except for the bhaal, it has a cleary defininded use case, make capital life miserable, and switch off cap using cruisers.
I was playing a bit with the armageddon for a while, but the range bonus just aint as usefull for me.
Other than that i sometimes use so BLOPS but those are generally ****** ships, and even worse if you want a combat vessel with jump portal. |

I really think that battleships should be either a) all given a version of the marauders bastion mode b) given a variation of a jump drive, 1 system jump randomly into an adjacant system without cyno. Ie you can jump next door without using the gate but you appear randomly at a location in system. Uses fuel. c) both
Battleships also need to have their locking times reduced. A lock time of 250% of that of a battle-cruiser is pretty crazy and really there's no need for it. Also a max cap on cloak scan penalty - getting a lock on a frigate of 45 seconds + 10 second decloak is 55 seconds. Its a bit much. Capping max lock time to 30 seconds makes sense. If something hasn't warped out after 30 seconds I think it wants to get locked.
If you consider that the cloak penalty is a ratio of scan resolution, a battleship using a 60% scan res penalty with an already horrid lock time of say 120, gets close to a 120% penalty of a battle-cruiser with a 60% scan res penalty cloak with a scan res of 250. Why? |

I was sure you were in Gentleman's Agreement a couple of weeks back - since they run the same doctrines as the rest of the CFC, they would have definitely had fleet fits for Rokh's, Mealstroms and Megathrons on their alliance site, likely Dominix's and Tempest Fleet Issues, and maybe even Abbadons (FA had an Abaddon doctrine recently, I don't know if Gents flew with them in it). Battleships are used (although I will admit, I've never seen a Hyperion fleet I'm afraid).
The thing is, nothing in this game is a swiss army knife. The bigger the ship, generally the more specific its use - everyone can bring a tackle frig in any fleet, but unless you have the dedication of Baltec (and that man is the best kind of insane), you haul a BS in to a fleet of smaller ships and you become a liability or the first thing killed. BS's definitely have their place, but their slow speed and issues hitting small things close means you aren't going to use then as a 10-man roaming gang (actually... Baltec, you know this would be an awesome thing for you to try) where you are completely unaware what you might run in to. In that case you need something that can engage a wider category of targets, or get the hell out if facing something insurmountable.
Most Battleship use is in big fleet meatgrinders (6VDT had I believe 6 fleets of Megathrons, that is a lot of BS) where you need a lot of damage applied in one place, where the fight location is fairly predictable so you can use Titan bridges to overcome the inherant pain of moving full fleets of slow-moving BS, where the fight isn't going to be very mobile, and where you are going into the engagement with a fairly good idea what the other side might bring. Depending what part of the game you play in, that might be an almost unheard-of set of parametres, or a situation that occurs in the vast majority of the fights you'll see (primarily sov wars).
Hope that ramblingly helped in some way. |

I can't imagine trying to roam lowsec in a BS without a few dozen of my closest friends. Which I don't have yet. Even then, a Gila or the new SOE cruiser will provide similar DPS in a significantly more mobile platform. Do you think that needs to be changed? Or do you feel thats fine the way it is and battleships should be the niche they are currently, situational.
CCP has 2 options with battleship. Make them situational vehicles that need support to function, or turn them into "solopwnmobiles".
Before that changes to the ways things like turrets and tracking etc worked (and don't forget stacking penalties too), Battleships were expensive but once you got one, you didn't need anything else, to the point where it was FOOLISH to fly something smaller if you could afford a BS.
The current situation splits up the roles in a way that smaller ships have a place in PVP but Battleships are good (great even) in certain situations where in some cases the smaller ships aren't. And CCP has improved battleships greatly recently with a series of battleship only mods like MJDs and target lock breakers.

Fair enough, I went in in the second fleet under Vee, and it all got a little hazy after that ;). I remember someone saying there was eight fleets total, but that included a bomber fleet and Imperians AHACs, hence why I went with 6, but nearly a thousand Megas definitely seems right. |

Not getting changed? You might want to try to fly one on Sisi right now, and try to go more than 3 systems through gates. Then get back to me on how they are not being changed in 3 weeks. Most people viewed Orwell's writings as a warning. The harper regime and the goons treat them as a guidebook. |
