Like others have said, in the heat of the moment it is easy to confuse 'I'm done' as in 'I'm done with you asshats, bite me' with just plain 'Done'
Remember, even a pod being ransomed is a potential warp-in point for his gang buddies in local. .___. {-,-} /)__) -"-"- Inactive as of 11-02-06. Still Whorum Foring though.

Idiot what kind of fool gets a person who says they will pay a ransom and then pods before the money gets into his hand. Personaly I would have waited 15 seconds gave a final warning and then if I didn't get the money in 10 seconds would have popped the pod. I mean people who pay ransom's are few and far between recently. So for him to go screw free money let's pop him is bad business imo. ----------

As I read this you never paid him but wrote done. So you lie on him and now you come to us to whine about it?

Personally i dont see any problem with breaking ransom agreements, if ur a pirate u could say ur roleplaying an evil player (and evil ppl lie) .... the simple fact is, if u get money out of them, then pop there ship its a double win. But the main point is its just a game and pirate honor dont mean squat..... just take each attack as a new one, and take ur own risks. (but personally i dont ransom, to eagar to pop there ships ) YARR!!!

Do NOT pay ransoms. Although not all pirates in EVE are griefing idiots, way too many are, and it has only gotten worse over the last month.
Either eject while you still have a ship around you or just blow your own pod up. They want to see you go 'boom'? Then do just that.
If I'm in dangerous space it's MY problem if something bad happens to me. I'm not about to leave my fate in the hands of some boob who may or may not honor ransoms.

I just wish people would pay ransoms.
I'm usually very generous on my costs. It doesn't take much for me to operate, so I'm usually pretty light on the ransom amount, but only one person has paid.
And I absolutely honor that, I even told the guy I ransomed I'd escort his pod a few jumps after the timer if he'd like. He kindly declined and went his way.
It's also a rule for my corp and any I'm allied with that if you dishonor a ransom, you get podded and the corpse goes to your victim(s). As well as any bounty you had. I may be evil, but I prefer good business. It brings return customers.

You should send the money before you said that you did. The guy saw "done" but didn't see your money. You could have been stalling or something. That's why he eliminated you. _________________________________________________________

I think,though...i this case, rather than the term done meaning "I have transferred you the money"...I'ts more in the sense of...."How much?...x isk...ok...done" as in done deal...

Yep. In a ransom there's very little tolerance for people who mess around.

Dont pay ransoms, when he asks for one, talk back in a foreign language. As he struggles with Babelfish, call in your corp.

I really dont see any reason to pay ransoms though, at least not for me. If my ship has been blown and they're ransoming my pod... Well, i dont use implants, my clone is updated always... Whats there to lose?? I mean seriously, why not just put that money towards a new setup instead of giving them that much more???

As a a month old character the 1 million ISK ransom was worth paying to save my 100 million ISK implants that expedited my learning.
The 'done' in the convo was said immediately after he gave me a number and it was mutually understood that it was referring to agreement on the amount for the ransom, not the completion of the transaction.

Dont use implants.
Period.
Unless your char is like 3 years old.
Still iffy.

LOL and they get a free ship, with mods intact, and will probs still hunt u down coz pods only go so fast. SO, u get podded and he gets a free ship, fool

Ahh....but I never intend to pay a ransom in the first place, and my corp might just get away with scrambling and popping the pirate.
I'm not bothered losing a ship or a pod, neither of them have much value in them with me I'm afraid to say. All cheap-o stuff that does the job it needs to, and no implants. Best way to play, no aggrivation if you die.

Some pirates honor ransoms, some don't. If your gonna pay a ransom, just gotta take that chance. I've only paid one ransom (was earlier), and that was because i was given a good fight, wasnt any smack involved.... and while my pod was in the process of slowly being killed i realized my clone was in 1.0 space, and my sec status is -3.8, so yea
but the pirate that ransomed me (well, i offered the ransom, but beats being in 1.0 space w\ my sec status) honored his deal and let me go after i deposited the cash. went on my merry way to purchase a shuttle to get the heck out. And i myself have honored my end of the pod ransom (was a 30 day old player, really not worth the sec hit). So not all pirates are gonna go back on their deal. If any do, name and shame on the forums, if i see 'em i'll kill them or die trying
Don't worry, your sig is safe...wait...oops. --Jorauk |

While I *always* honor ransoms, the mortality rate for those who don't accept my convos is 100%. And the pod. I *always* pod someone who cancels my convo. Furthermore, the more smacktalk, the more I do repeat business on their ships.
But people who are polite I have respect for, and usually won't pirate twice. At least not in the same week ;)
