Ironically, I know of A LOT of things that are not a scam, as well.

This guy gets it :-).
To OP: the Info on the contract, for the contracted item, if it's a BPC will tell you it's a BPC and it will even say how many runs are on it.
You said you'd done your homework, but you really didn't.
And you have the one-run BPC for a very decent ship that will sell at a decent price.
You need a thick skin and some decent situational awareness to move forward in this place.
I'll give you one thing though: it really isn't all that easy to understand all the subtleties of the various systems if you're not familiar with them. EVE is a place where the cartoon for the learning curve itself is a cultural reference. And with good reason.
1. Build the boat
2. Sell the boat
3. Fit your fleet
4. Go forth and make merry
5. Any business in Jita that looks too good to be true, -is- too good to be true. Saying there are scammers in Jita is like saying rain is wet.
[and read the contract]

That rule alone is why a lot of people are here. I almost quit at 2-3 months. I'm glad I didn't. I didn't know thing one about the game in my first year... |

OP has been playing MMOs since the age of ten. I've only ever played EvE, but as an internet tough-guy i'd just like to drop that being homeless for a while in my 20s was real good prep for internet spaceships. You develop intuition, the quality needed for making decisions without data. Still got scammed and jumped as a newb, but also managed to meet some top chaps and ripping sports. The desire to help the new or poor is everywhere in EvE, but the way the game works any structured effort is ripe for ripoff.
If not a troll, OP really should do all the tutorials, career agents and the soe L1 arc. Keep the will to meet people.

Quote:32. "Quitting" posts are only permitted on the Out of Pod Experience channel.
CCP recognize that during the course of gameplay a lot of friendships are made between players and that sometimes if a player is taking a break or departing from the EVE universe that they would like to say goodbye on the forums. Posts of this nature are only permitted on the Out of Pod Experience forum, and must be civil and well worded. Thread has been moved to Out of Pod Experience. |

I'd prefer to see a little more visual distinction between BPOs and BPCs than different shades of blue. Perhaps Blue for BPOs and green for copies. Then newer entrants in the BPO/BPC market would have a better visual clue that what they're buying on contract is not the same as what someone is offering a lot of ISK to buy. |

Most people get scammed at least once early in their career. You learn from your mistake and it won't happen again unless you are stupid. If its too good to be true, it probably is. |

I have spilled more coffee, knocked over more drinks, and ripped more clothes than I have lost ISK in this game.
We all get scammed. Just forget it and have fun. Good luck in whatever game you play. |

I didn't read the whole thread...so forgive me if this was brought up already...but what's a week old noob doing with more than 370 million isk to get scammed out of? did you buy a plex? is that what the reference to "$15" was ,,,because I assumed you mean subscription cost since you plan on leaving and all. |

It's difficult to determine from the OP whether this was actually a scam or not, so I checked his contract history. Yes, he was in fact scammed. The contract was an auction for a Raven BPC, but the info by issuer, and almost certainly what was linked in local, was "Raven Navy Issue BPC !" |

Almost the same exact thing happened to me a couple of months ago. Someone was selling 20-30 blueprints for 100m isk. I bought them expecting to sell them at market. And turns out I could not. I ended up using one of the blueprints to build like 3000 EC-900 and made back ~50m. I burned the rest of the blueprints and put a $50m bounty on the scammer. Lesson learned. Never buy blueprints unless you intend to manufacture and completely ignore Jita's local chat. As for quitting, good luck with that. If you succeed, you are a better man than me. In 2-4 weeks, you will see another eve trailer and be right back. |

I've bought many BPC's off market to build the ship I want/need. Never bought one to resell, so I can't offer advice there. I think BPC sales are not a scam at all. Hell, I've sold Merlin BPC's I've made from my BPO. |

If you are not happy with the corp you are in, there are a billion others out there. Flying with decent people in a decent corp will change the game for you.
If you are just into the pvp side, look to corps like Brave Newbies and RVB. There is continuous pvp in RVB and they have programs to help improve your pvp skills. I've never been in Brave Newbies but I've heard they are active and are meant to support the newer players. (Hence the name)
Jita is a lie. Only the fearsome and brave of heart buy things in Jita, and thats after reading, re-reading, double checking.
We all get scammed at sometime. Count it as a learning experience and move on making sure not to do that again.
It's a tough game. Gotta be tough to play. |

after I realized this, I just set course to VFK, the center of this plague ... and since then I gank their ****** ships and miners, make them pay until they quit "An Eye for an Eye Will Make the Whole World Blind." It's just finding the right people to be around. When I started playing two years ago as a noob, I used to go to Motsu and ask in local for salvage and most of the time, they brought me into their mission fleets and before you know it I was making 50-100 mil a day and was offered to join a corp and grind missions with them as my skills improved. They were really nice people. I mostly learn this game on my own through trial and error learning through my mistakes, not being bitter, not complaing, not asking too many questions and it worked well for me.
those few who are ok are overshadowed by a dump mob of unlikable personalities, I'm not bitter, I'm calm I see this like a job that needs to be done |
