They need to start handing out forum suspensions for some of the regular asshats that have to derail every single thread in this fourm that doesn't revolve around Vaga T2 gank setups and the like.
The OP may be posting something that is good or bad, who cares. It's his money, it's his ship, it's his $15 a month - NOT YOURS. If you don't want to read it, then go back to the alliance forum with all of the other social deviants and spam your uberness there. |

On a serious note, have fun fitting it, and go play with it...but I wouldn't pvp w/that ship vs a ceptor. Lvl 1 and 2 missions should be fine though  .

You know, I'm sick of the so called 'l33t' players out there totally trashing a build that is outside of the box of what their established methods are.
Since I started pirating I've heard the gammut: "AFs rock, cruisers suck" "Cruisers rock why fly an AF?" "That ship would get WTF PWND if I had my 'uber faction baby-eating drone carrier' with me, etc etc.
I applaud seeing someone -finally- post alternate builds for alternate ships.
Heres a tip for PVP players: If you go into a battle with assumptions about your opponent or their build or their tactical ability you've just made yourself vulnerable and ultimately a weaker pilot. You may still beat them because you've got that baby-eating drone carrier but that still doesn't mean you just presented them with a weak flank as it were.
The ultimate killer in any combat scenario? Hubris folks. The very thought that your so much better than those your against will eventually be your achilles heel if it hasn't become so already.
Sure, that Comet might not be the ultimate uber pwning ship, but hell, I want one just cause it looks cool and who isn't playing this game because ships look cool to begin with?

Did anyone actualy try to fit comet for pvp, i kinda have this idea of going anti interceptor boat. It has 4 - 3 - 4 slot layout and bit more pg then taranis.

I've just been offered a 2 run BP for the Comet, only ever seen one in action and it ran circles around my old veteran pirate corp mates who spent most of their game time telling me what good pilots they were. I suspect apart from the ships fitting issues and cost, and whether the pilot owned a ceptor as well, he looked to be having quite a laugh at our expense! Certainly looked more fun than what we were upto at the time, which basically amounted to ruining the career aspirations of noob frig pilots.
I like (most of) the thread and appreciate that it represents your opinion, thanks for having the morale courage to present it here.

This is an exellent post, namelly for faction ship collectors like myself, who are allways looking for setups from experienced players, specially the ones that, like yours, have the base modules.
That way we can first understand what they are (also good for new players like me) and then decide which better version to put in.
I wish there were more posts like this one.

Yep, this is a cool ship for a bit of smalltime pimping and lvl 1-2 missions. But for pvp its useless though. Not because of price, but because the ship has a crap layout for it.

I bought one last night because I'd never seen one, and it looked nifty. And I was high.
Do I have buyer's remorse the day after? Hell no! It's neat little ship with a flashing light and "GF-PD" on the side. I can pretend to be a cop and try to pull people over

I came up with something for a friend today, he just got his, and I just got my Slicer, so we went and bashed each other up a bit.

Me: AB, web/scram, Cap recharger
Lo: SAR, '3 Mag stabs'/'2 Mag stabs + Co-processor'

It may have been Ions, with 3 damage mods, I can't remember what he could fit.
I think it was something like that, I was trying to play to the ships strengths, and squeeze lots of damage out of it, rather than trying to tank it.

I got a 2 run BPC for these from my agent a while back, built them both sold one and have just fitted the other one up for a bit of fun running lvl 1 and 2 missions. My setup is:
Note: I have all basic fitting skills to lvl 5 and AWU to lvl 4 and this is still a tight squeeze.
2x 125mm Prototype Rails
2x TE2100 Standard Missile launchers
1x 1mn Afterburner II
2x Cap recharger II (for lack of anything else useful to put here)
1x Small Armor Rep II
1x EANM II
1x Nanofiber II
1x Tracking enhancer II (to get the rails range up with the missiles)
1x Hobgoblin II
Have tried one mission so far but that was with 2x 150mm Prototype rails and 2x arbalest rocket launchers. The rails kicked ass but normally killed stuff before the rockets were in range. Then when the rockets were in range the rails werenĘt tracking fast enough, could never deal full damage so I switched to bigger missiles and smaller guns. With a bit of tweaking over the next few days and a -3% turret CPU impant I hope to cram on the bigger railguns and the standard launchers (will need the arby launchers I think)
This ship is for a bit of fun and novelty and it's great to run low level missions in. I did that lvl 1 mission (attack of the drones I think) in about 2 minutes and barely got my shields scratched. Does well over 700m/s and kills nearly everything in one volley (was using 150mm's then). Will be trying out the setup with the 125mm's in a minute.
Finally, can people stop recommending other ships and start recommending fittings, this ship is far better than any tech 1 frigate and some people (including myself) cannot fly tech II ships, this means your precious Tranis is not always an option.

If I make 2 bil a week, I fly Comets in PVP, I fly Navy Megathron solo in 0.0 etc and then its usefull to have threads like this, nicely written, best used as guidelines.
Now if I want a Taranis setup, I will look at a Taranis thread and dont wanna crawl tru several other threads to see if some daffy goon hasn't posted "Fly Taranis instead" comment and his setup.

I hate to bring up an old thread, but it the Navy Comet setup listed in the sticky.
Anyway, I buy and follow a 1-nos 1-rocket blaster setup with no plates.
I love it for what I use it for, bait. Who doesn't want to kill a faction frig and ruin someone's day?
Just make sure hte calvary is nearby :)

hey Guardian Alpha mate. I just recently got hold of a COMET myself and i love this thing. It not only looks cool but it does have alot of potential!
I looked at your setup and agree with almsot 90% of it. I dont think i would take it onto missions myself but it would be great as a Level 4-5 Mission Support ship.
Yeah i have a tristan too, no i dont have a Taranis. And to be honest a Comet is going to do a far better job for Anti-Frig/Cruiser job than my tristan would. This would be due to the higher powergrid, CPU and the extra Low Slot.
Guys you really aught to stfu about other ships on a Thread Designated for a Specific Ship. IMHO a Comet is great as a support ship for others who struggle in their own missions or to just tag along and have some fun with it.
OK, i wouldnt take this into missions on my own and No, i deffinatly wouldnt take it into PvP. Isk can be a problem for me at times and i couldnt afford to lose 1-2 Comets.
HOWEVER! Eve Online is a game, and to be taken in moderation and to Enjoy! That means have lots of FUN. So thats what i intend to do with my Comet :D

LOL no. Ceptors absolutely destroy this thing. I have done so, on several occasions. Why anyone would take this thing in to real combat is strange, but hey, if they have the money to waste.
