When i logged in i heard about the event.I had 30 minutes left to get there. Most of my alliance and friends i know in other nullsec entities didnt even give a damn to go there.
I clonejumped 18 jumps out of the nullsec form up , bought me a ship and flew there dodging 2 neut gatecamps in null and one in low-sec.When i got there i had to reship ... then reship again and decided to dive in solo. I got killed after the 2nd jump or so so bought myself a new ship , fitted it and joined a goon fleet of about 40ish guys.Went into system , kille stuff and got killed , jumped system and bought myself a new ship.Got back into the fightin area ..lost anothher ship and jumped to the next system again to reship ... jumped into the fight again to loose another ship and reshipped again to join the fight.
In short i was notified at a late time of the event and had to reship 4 times , using a market available to everyone to do so and so i did. Most high-sec players got shot down , warped from gate to gate to get home and got shot.
Now you can blaim this on CCP or RAZOR or anyone you like.Or you could blaim it on the fact that the way you are ''used to playing the game'' means you are used to not having to adapt and/or change strategy most of the times. That is our key difference in my opinion. |

Now you can claim this on CCP or RAZOR or anyone you like.Or you could blame it on the fact that the way you are ''used to playing the game'' means you are used to not having to adapt and/or change strategy most of the times. That is our key difference in my opinion. Your talking about a PVP event. I know how to PVP :) i have no issues with it. This was pitched as a PVE event which was supposed to have multi empire support. What it turned into is the Dev's telling a large H.S Fleet to essentially split up and head into L.S. Once told to jump then disappeared! The State support wasn't even a shuttle lol With any MMO if you join a Dev lead player event with no info of whats going on you follow them not wanting to miss out. Especially on a launch coming up to a expansion. This was just a mess. If the aim was to get people to see and experience the new content then the event failed. Most people didn't get their. If this was a PVP event i still would have been their but half the fleet would not have. This turned into a turkey shoot. I was one of the last standing with the first fleet jump but cant do anything 1 vs 200 lol
This was not pitched as a pve event.
Once formed up the destination was to a highsec sys boundering a low-sec system. After that the destination was through low-sec to a null-sec system. The next destination was null-sec.
There was an invitation to help the ''pirates'' by forming in null-sec syndicate .
There was enough time to get that brain working ....
This is eve , you are expected to use that thing in your head .. not follow someone blindly. |

This was pitched as a PVE event, we were told we were helping PVE Empires fight PVE pirates, it wasnt until an hour before the event we were told differently.
Also we DID have to follow CCP blindly because the objective was "secret" and it wasnt until 2 hours in TIDI hell that we knew it was moving to LS/NS.
So it took more then an hour for you to decide to go along witht he fleet or not? And no you did not have to follow CCP blindly.I don't even follow my own FC's blindly unless i know how they work. It's your cash/plex that pays your gametime not CCP ... really my god .. |

Jove Death wrote:I Joined the event in Meves and when they said were going to Stacmon I actually thought the 32 year old char was nuts.
Firstly 8 jumps through mission systems with 800 ships would have been hilarious for them.
Took 45 mins to get there with TIDI 10% which was just lol.
I gave up at Stacmon as the event char buggered off and eveyone didnt have a clue and went throught osti and covryn.
In my mind im thinking because of the cluster **** the other day and the fact that ccp never really has enough chars on SISI to stress test.
They decided to get a bunch of lemmings together and see what happens.
Bloody funny to be honest the fact that they still after all these years sort out terrible lag even on route systems that had 100 chars had 17% TIDI
Razor and the other squads were already prob flying around doril anyway so they must have had ages to set up and get there pinics out and smile and wave at the mess comming to them.
I went solo to syndicate and passed your high-sec fleet while you where moving , needed to evade some bubbles/reds/neuts along the way but made it there when you guys came into syndicate. I know that at least the syndicate fight mostly had null pilots who came rushig there in the last 30 minutes before the fight started and where shooting each other before you guys came in as we/they mostly had neut/Red standings with each other too.The fighting system had allmost no tidi so i'd say good job on that part at least for CCP.
The outcome was the same as in doril though. You can not expect a giant pile of trash to fight guys who know how to follow the FC , have a decent FC , have experience with nullfights and who all are on teamspeak/mumble ... |

LOL I believe they call that "Lemming" behavior. There is no such thing as a PVE (only) event in EVE. Stop making bad assumptions.
Well technically if he got killed he didn't miss out now did he? |

LOL I believe they call that "Lemming" behavior. There is no such thing as a PVE (only) event in EVE. Stop making bad assumptions. Everyone clearly knows the difference between a PVE and a PVP fit. Most people were in a PVE fit as they were given the impression this was a pirate NPC event. The response on the coms that we were going to 0.4sec 10 min's prior to the event start was shock. Most people didn't know. This was simply down to unclear communication from CCP. The situation of the sites kind of gave my fleet a good idea. Hence being in a PVP fit to the most part. Most people thought CCP had engineered some new mechanic where they were forming LS fleets (pirates) and flagging them so their could be a 0.5 sec fight. That was one of the general ideas. (temp security status drop etc) Look i went into the fight partially PVE but mostly PVP fit as i had no idea what the event was going to be. Hence i lasted one's standing of the first blood bath and actually got on a kill unlike most. The TiDi coupled with CCP FC skills and "just jump to Planet 4 when the bubble dispersers rubbish" caused loads of High Sec players to die on probably their first LS adventure. What sort of Dev doesn't know that the bubbles will just get re deployed in the instant they are down and that you wouldn't last long enough to just "warp out" Every wormholer and NullSec guy does. What takes the **** more is the actual event would have been over even if we had made it past the gate by the time we got their.
Those from the highsec block who went to syndicate where ONE jump from dodixie wich is a main trade hub.I passed by the staging system when they where leaving yet i had time to buy and fit a puriifier ... loose it , buy and refit a new ship in an npc null station from market , loose it then buy and refit a ship from null npc station market AND loose it once more and buy and refit a ship ...
I must be some kind of god to be able to do that while others did not even have the chance to refit ONCE ?
Also it was mentioned an hour before that the null sec guys should form up IN null sec.So they take the risk to go through null sec and get shot down every jump including the form up point full of neuts and reds but you guys should be totally safe from any harm done? And why would they need to form up iin null ... gosh i wonder , maybe that was a hint that pvp was about to happen? It was the only reason you did see people from null sec gathering there because they DID use their brains and could see from a mile away that there was gonna be a massive slugfest to be had.
You can whine and complain all you want , in the end it is your own fault to miss the totally clear endgoal of the event. But then some people need to have something explained out in CLEAR WORDS before they get the picture right? |
