The solution is simpler than that... buff rat spawns in belts, progressively. Let them escelate to the point where a miner has to pay attention and flee the scene if need be. (say, 5 cruisers and 10 frigates in an officer spawn, 3 and 6 in non-officer spawns) No miner could run belts afk without backup, which encourages the whole multiplayer element. |

I have seen this idea before about implementing a captha (the hijacking suggestion will lead to a captha in the defence mecanism that is mention in the op) to counter the bot problem. In my opinion, this will never work! I ice mine alot myself and if I frequently would be asked to fill in a captha field to prove that I am human, I would deffently stop ice mining. I think in general that most people also would be enoyed by such a feature, meaning that we would in the end actually see more of bot mining, because no sain person would enjoy mining anymore. If you put your mind to it, it would also be possible for the bot to counter the captha, so the feature would not really stop the bot mining as much as it would stop the real miners.
When I mine, I often watcha movie, or just do wathever at the same time, and that is not afk mining in the sence of what bot mining represent.
No matter how we look at it, bot mining aswell as other stuff like isk selling and so fort will always be a problem, but punishing the real players is not, in my opinion the way to sort this problem. I think a better way than the captha would be to allow ccp to be able to monitor the players more so that they can find people that use bots or other cheats that are not allowed in the game.

I would like to propose that the hacking skill be upgraded to "hijacking" to allow a pilot to eject a bot or afk pilot from any ship and send the now empty ship to a location somewhere in that same system as the property of the hijacking pilot. Giving him the opportunity to remove it from bot mining and sell it on the open market. Level 5 Hijacking skill would allow the ship to auto pilot thru gates to a destination set by the hijacker up to five gates. The hijacking defense could be as simple as typing in the name of the pilot targeting your ship and the name of his corp before the hijack timer is successful something like 5 minutes. Additionally once successfully ejected the bot capsule would begin a 20 minute timer at the expiration of which it would become a legit target (Red) for any pilot with positive sec status with no penalty sec status hit for the extermination of a bot. This way every human pilot can become a part of the solution to the bot problem and not just the goons. These are my thoughts as to an interactive multi-player way to address something that puts legit players at a market disadvantage when bots can mine non-stop 23/ 7 365.
Sit down. Obviously you've had a head injury. Goons is not fighting bots. Goons is bot friendly. They very publicly posted notice that goons caught blowing up goon bots would be kicked. They aren't alone as it seems at least most large alliances are running large botting operations. Please read up on stuff before posting. This gank-fest is simply to give the pvp pilots something to do that doesn't interfer with the alliance botting and moon goo wallet stuffing.
There's an old movie called "The Man Who Would Be King". in it a British officer is addressing some of the local Indian ( as in India) males who have come to be trained as infantry. The officer says "A good soldier is a dumb soldier, and from the look of you lot, you shall be magnificent.". Take that to heart. I bet you do great in a fleet fight. |

Regards Lizden If you want to watch a movie please do not be surprised if a non-afk player wants to watch your ship go boom! If you want to watch a movie i suggest PI. Park your movie watching behind in a station and do not undock until you can pay attention! |

Its easy to say watching a movie is a bad idea and leads to ganking, however as I said earlier https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=479818#post479818 that those players who are married, have kids, friends, lives, make snacks, Jehovah witnesses at the door, bio-breaks, etc. Lead to instances where you can't tape your eye-lids open and **** in a jar. If we wanted to not have a life we'd be playing WoW. Eve is a working mans game, don't forget that. representing Gëí-àGëí ߦ+ߦ¦ß¦+ߦ¦ß¦¦ß¦¦ in Ghana +¬(GùŦ«¦«¦âGÇó¦â)¦¦ |

Owning your own business is very intense and i have been able to run more then one successful business operation for the past ten years so please don't whine about EVE being just a working man's game, EVE is a thinking man's game.
Get a clue an undock when you can pay attention. Learn to prioritize and to delegate your limited time effectively otherwise you'll end up doing a half ass job at most things you do. If real life causes me to be distracted and i lose a ship that is the nature of the game, EVE is unforgiving of the unwary an inattentive. AFK = a free killmail! |

So let me guess, your relationship with your wife is poor, your relationship with your child is poor, but hey, you're winning at Eve & you're business... lol, that or you hardly play Eve.
bravo sir, you win the internet, now re-prioritize your life away from a game, your family will thank you
the entire premise of this thread is to examine the bot problem and how to address it, you are failing greatly in understanding that some people have lives that are vastly different than yours (some actually have more than one kid). It is this reflection that brings a clearer vision of how to address the issue. Just because you play a way, doesn't mean it applies to all. I am asking you to think about it. But it sounds like you wont. representing Gëí-àGëí ߦ+ߦ¦ß¦+ߦ¦ß¦¦ß¦¦ in Ghana +¬(GùŦ«¦«¦âGÇó¦â)¦¦ |

Hello Ronin!
If I get blown up while I ice mine: regardles if I am watching a movie, talking to my wife, antending to the game, and so forth, well fine, that is the rules of the game! So you are right, I will get no more or less suprise in any of the above situations.
PI, I tried and I did not like it, but thanks thou.

I like the captcha idea, but if you type one in successfully, you should be immune for an hour or so. Just in case there are a lot of em in the system.
And I think it should give you 15 minutes to type it in. |

Okay, goon-alt OP. Have you ever wondered why all these bots seem to be responding to your post? Maybe because you aren't shooting bots? I dunno. Go ask Mittens to tell you what to think again. |

We try to make it clear that the way to get rid of bots is by killing bots. But there's so many inept players out there who can't be bothered to dock up during a mass gank that the gankers honestly can't tell them apart from bots. Heck, maybe they are bots, and they're just raging on the forums, pretending to not be. |
