Well for my thoughts it will be the thinking players that will stay it will increase gradually. for ever 10 that join 9 may leave and one will stay over time eve will prosper to be the greatest game of them all. the people who do leave in droves are the people who want instant rewards and in eve there are no instant rewards you have to work for the ship you want. Then you have to work to keep the ship you have while gaining more resources for your next goal which mean thinking out a strategy that suits you. you cant come into this game an think yeh I am gone be the best pirate killer in a week or two its just not gona work you will loose ships that way and then loose your enthusiasm for the game.

Bring that much gear, that way, into 0.0 space is wrong.
As for the grifters, np, they tend to loose alot of ships too, and with school starting back up, these kids will have less time to replace their looses. Thier numbers will thin.

Yes; this "impact" will be people will stop being so damn careless with things they have worked hard to gain.
People are too comfortable with the "once I get something it's mine forever" atmosphere created by games like EverQuest.
EVE requires you not only to work to earn things, but also to KEEP them.
Sorry but this situation is cut and dry; transporting that many incredibly valuable items in a SINGLE ship on a SINGLE trip through 0.0 security space w/o even taking the couple extra minutes to send a scout ahead on the route. I mean, 10k for a shuttle, or 100m and your entire corporate holdings.
Which would you risk given the choice? The only thing this proves is that EVE requires a little bit of brains to be successful. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.

Bah! A little too judicious on the ol' 'Post Reply' button and kiss goodbye! (MWAH!) post ..
Oh-kay. Let's try that again, shall we?
VC,
Your series of posts were some of the most precise, razor-sharp, cruel and articulate postings on the subject that I have had the pleasure to read. You know when you read a good post and you emphatically nod to every single point hammered to a home run.
Add 'one' to the soon-to-be (but I was here FIRST!, damnit) burgeoning VC 'groupie' collection.

Quote: Jash i agree with you about the bp's but would you move your corp and its holdings in 1 unprotected indie through known pirate hot spots? even loosing copies from a limited bp is costly.
You'd be surprised what I've moved with an unprotected indy through known pirate hot spots. But I'm Special. I fully accept whatever risk I'm taking before doing somethng like that
Losing a blueprint copy made from a limited original would be costly, yes. But nowhere near as costly as losing the original. I'm not going to pretend the original poster lost 100m worth of original blueprints. I'm fairly certain the most expensive blueprints were copies. But then that should be one of the incentives of buying an original:
The ability to make a backup copy.
Course that whole debate is academic with this stupid blueprint licensing. Guess what? Our corps originals ain't budging out of the station we're at. I'm seriously considering locking all the originals into a secure container, just in case someone's account gets hacked.
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann
Be careful out there. That other guy waiting in the queue for the gate MIGHT be a baby-munching frock-burner, YOU JUST DON'T KNOW!- Lallante |
