There has been a lot of criticism over the last event, even though most have been negative and one positive thread, I would like to shime in on my experience as a fairly new player (3 months in game, yes this is an alt) who has barely been to null or low sec, and this being my first event.
So far I had read a lot of opinions over it and why it is bad or good but I feel like the good side is being heavily underrated. Simply put this event was amazingly awesome to me, and I will tell you why:
1. first time I experience tidi, the graphics going in the motion of jelly was pretty intense 2. first time I go to null, and I encounter bubbles. 3. I learned that fleet fights isn't all about hurr durr F1 and sitting afk in tidi which most posters had me think. 4. seeing that amazing coordination of how the ships at the gatecamp where all in the same position ready to shoot anyone and as I passed right beneath, simply awesome. 5. Again I learned that it takes a lot to run pvp fleet seeing how well organized they were and that it takes a ton of effort, and that conquering null and sov should be 6. Organization is key, lack of intel, lack of taking command by anyone to organize the random folks that were present in the event, kitchen sinks die, if we had brought (or even reshipped) stealth bombers this would have been insane. 7. What CCP did "abandon us" was actually the best part of this, if you look at it from a learning side, it teaches you that you are petty much ****** if you can't lead, disorganized and untrained among several other things, next time I will come prepared. 8. We were not forced to go to the event, so even though some didn't like it guess what? you now know! You know that doril is staging system, the time traveled to get there and how it worked that were awoxed? and that they were able to set up a gate camp in 20 mins ! 9. If I was smart enough to get a salvage running I would have been ******* rich! LOL
and so much more that I forgot because of my excitement
I actually never wanted to join null sec before this, but seeing those ships blap us to death, damn and to think it would have been 100x better if we were able to hold our ground, now I realize why everyone likes large fleet fights, some good time shooting with friends and intense pvp.
I want to thank the null sec players who posted their opinions regarding this event made me see it from a different way and the positive side of it.
So a big thank you from me CCP! I will be attending your next events! |

Don't wait for the next CCP event. Grab a bunch of your buddies, grab some ships that you can afford to lose and laugh at, head for the nearest 0.0 entrance and have at it.

0.0 is not a big scary place...
I went to Oijanen system and kept going forward, had a rifter equipped and made sure to train for a mwd, when I reached the first null sec system warped to the next gate and a ship uncloaked 30 km away and I started hearing the beam sound, my adrenaline spiked I was stuck in a bubble and the ship getting closer, activated mwd to get to gate, he hits me first, 2nd and now my ship is burning 3rd hit "miss", 4th hit "miss" I make it to gate and jump! :D
In the next systems I found more bubbles people in local but not at gates, one person in local thought I was "goon spy" xD had a small chat with him and went on my way, the second gate had a lot of bubbles I try to get out but I see a ship came on and targeting me, this time I managed to see its name I think it was a saber and another ship was a malediction boom goes my ship lol, trip ended early but I joined a null training corp part of a bigger alliance now. |

You are having more fun at this game right now than most of the people who post on this forum.
I remember back when I first signed up and goons were living down in Scalding Pass, and everyone was like, oh, just pod yourself down from highsec, and I was like, **** that, if I have to get blown up anyway I might as well have a little fun doing it. So I moved my medical clone to 1V-LI2, loaded up my Probe (the most cargo space!) with all my newbie crap, set course and... made it. I was sure I'd die the whole way and it was absolutely great!
For a while, the way I made my money, since I couldn't rat yet, was running the pipe down from Rens in a frigate full of skillbooks and modules, since jump freighter services weren't really a thing then. Only died a few times and never got tired of doing it. More fun than going on ops.
Keep that spirit, it's easy to get distracted by making money and protecting your assets, and forgetting that it's all supposed to be fun. |

Welcome to Eve :)
Yes, there's nothing like that first experience of going out into the 'big scary null sec'.. I remember going to low for the first few times and doing stuff there was scary... then I upped my game and went to null, and it was scary, but it was a hell lot of fun.
And while I'm still not much of a PvP addict, preferring to do other things in the game than hunting people or blowing people up, I do love going into 'hostile space' and doing what I like doing over there, right under their noses. The pressure of having hostiles in system who might or might not be looking for me ( I just consider they are at all times ), makes the game so much more fun than just doing another high sec mission or whatnot.

Actually, you are a PvP addict, and I'm the same way. Being the mouse who steals the cheese is just as much PvP as the typical antler bashing that some people call "elite PvP". Perhaps even more so, because stealing the cheese can have larger consequences. |

True I suppose.. I guess the fact I like busting through gatecamps with my prowler just to pick up my PI out of null and being disappointed if there aren't any camps, doesn't help much either.
As for joining black eyed legion.. I don't speak Russian.. and I'm not good at learning languages. |
