BDCI û My corp are the hands of the MC. We are the ædoersÆ. WeÆre the crazy bastards that drive the rest of the alliance nuts with our, ôHey, letÆs do this!ö posts. My members are intentionally not famous or well-known. Those æbig namesÆ we have in the corp mean less to us than the people behind them. To wear the BDCI name tag indicates you are seeking friendship, a true home in a virtual universe. ItÆs a commitment to a higher level of personal satisfaction, a desire to enhance your game play beyond ôwhatÆs in it for me?ö
My members amaze me every day with their dedication to their corp and this alliance. SivonaÆs amazing piloting, Kenshin and RoninÆs logistical prowess, LatexÆs love of pod kills, DraxÆs fantastic team spirità As we expand and add new, quality players like Cowboy and Winterblink to our ranks, BDCI only grows stronger. The MC is our life in EVE, and we will work our asses off to keep it going until the servers shut down.
For a year now, the above four corps have done their best to put the best face possible on the mercenary profession in EVE. Sometimes we stumble, but we have never fallen. To date, we have never failed a client. We are constantly working to improve both ourselves and the services we can offer potential customers. We are not pirates or a gank squad. The MC is a military force capable of shifting the balance in almost any conflict. We offer fleets of almost entirely Tech 2 ships, a Dread and Carrier force surpassed or rivaled only by the largest alliances in the game. Most importantly, we offer the pilots capable of doing the job set before them.
To celebrate our One Year Anniversary, IÆve put together a short video that tries to put into pictures and footage everything IÆve said above.
Vid Linkage û Who is the MC? (Parental warning û there is exactly one bad word in the song used in the vid. Please let it beà)
We are proud members of the EVE Community and we thank the men and women at CCP for providing the ôViolent Playgroundö for us to play in. Here is to the next year! -

- Go Us! -
One year ago today, the Mercenary Coalition announced its expansion from two to four corporations. That announcement is considered by many to be the actual æbirthÆ of the MC, so today we celebrate the end of our first year together. It has been an amazing and fun year, one where weÆve traded fire with almost every major organization in EVE.
Two years ago, my corp started down an uncertain path. We wanted to establish the mercenary profession as something solid and respectable in the EVE universe. Along the way, we made friends and enemies both. Despite the lack of any real in-game mechanic and the uphill battle we faced, we stuck to our guns. IÆd like to think that we confounded our critics while delighting our clients and fans.
But we didnÆt make the journey alone. Being the spokesperson for my corp and what would later become the MC put the spotlight on my corp as the ôleaderö or the ôbestö of the MC. Far too often have we seen our names in local while the others in our gang went ignored. As I said, we didnÆt make this journey alone.
FRICK û Sharks with Frickin Laser Beams are the heart of the MC. They have been our brothers for nearly two years. Players like Neurotic Cat, Julien, Xulnaga and Karmic have seen it all continue to shape their corp into the deadly instrument of warfare that it is today. Much of the MCÆs success today is also owed to past FRICK members like Velsharoon, Hinik & Danks who are now proud members of Arcane Frankologies. About the time of the formation of the official Alliance for the MC, FRICK gained Eyeshadow and Farjung, both players who are on their way to legendary status in their own right.
Today, the Sharks serve as what is hopefully the final stop to many experienced players. Every month that passes sees them add a new face destined to become a valued member of the MC Family. There is simply no way that my corp or the MC would be where we are today without these guys.
[-TC-] û TC are the claws and fangs of the MC. This is because the most unknown corp of the MC is also the most deadly. We often refer to The Corporation as the æPitbulls of the MCÆ. TC is a group of RL friends who all basically live a rockÆs throw from each other. They are a tight and absolutely ferocious group of PvPers. Guys like Ithildin are probably on the Devs æmost wantedÆ list for his constant spamming of them on one issue or another. The last thing you want to see on your scanner is Eelak or Generatorn, especially if you are a pirate near their hunting grounds. How many dozens of support pilots have fallen before the guns of ZajoÆs Wolf?
Many times has victory been snatched from the jaws of defeat for the MC been due to the bold actions of this small corp. The Corporation is an example to all of EVE that you donÆt have to be the biggest to be the best at what you do.
NSN û Without a doubt, the soul of the MC. Words cannot express how freakinÆ amazing a group of pilots North Star Networks represents. These guys take teamwork to a level most corps in EVE can only dream of. As I watched NSN from afar for months as they fought in the Great Northern War, I developed a friendship with Leafo that rivals any IÆve known in æreal lifeÆ. That friendship led directly to NSN becoming a part of the MC where I got to meet and know the rest of the corp. Players like Uruko, who drives the industrial heart of NSN, are few and far between.
From TimonÆs drunken ramblings to Recluse *****ing constantly about his beloved Caldari ships to Lowa mistakenly jamming me, the members of NSN make the game fun and thatÆs what itÆs really all about, isnÆt it? -

Upon reading a post on our boards that there would be an MC anniversary announcement made on the EVE-O forums... and that a brief response would be appreciated (though not required)... I began to put a bit of thought into exactly what I wanted to say. While I very rarely post on EVE-O... those who have read my posts may recall that I try to put a tremendous amount of thought into precisely what I want to communicate. This post probably tops that list... as I feel compelled to share with fellow EVE players, and alliance mates, exactly what my home within the MC means to me.
I came to MC after my close group of friends decided to formally disband our corp and move on to greener pastures. Most of us are æreal lifeÆ friends (as that is a requirement to be invited to become a Shriner)à and most likely always will be. Keeping this in mindà to say that I had high expectations of BDCI is an understatement. My love for EVE runs deepà but without a great group of friends the greatest of MMOs will lose itÆs luster.
I grew up PKing in MUDsà and figured that my willingness and ability to kill other players might, to some degree, play some part in my acceptance. After allà the MC are mercs. I knew that the process of joining would take a whileà and that personality would most likely play more of a role in my being accepted than how many skill points my character might possess. To be honestà the fact that many, many people are turned away not because they are bad peopleà or bad playersà but because they simply might not mesh well with the rest of the crew was a selling point. I wanted a tight-knit group of friends to hang withà not a bunch of power gamers.
Being adopted into BDCI and the MC exceeded my every expectationà without a single exception. The MC is more of a family than I had imagined. Knowing the people that I know nowà and looking at the fact that they felt comfortable in allowing me into the familyà I feel incredibly privileged.
The public (mis)conception of the MC is incredibly one-sided. Yes, we may be good at shooting peopleà but there are a multitude of things going on behind the fun that many people make happenà oftentimes with little gratitude. Eyeshadow is one of the supreme FCs in this game. Kenshin is æMr. Do Everything that Everyone Else Hates to DoÆ. Leafo, while being a notorious film expert, hears a æThank YouÆ about once a year for putting all his time and effort into the website. TC and NSN almost NEVER receive the recognition that they deserve because they do not frequent the forums. Paniq and Ehxo are both tied for æNicest Person in the Known UniverseÆ. Recluse puts the fear of God into everyone he targetsà while spreading the word of the almighty Kladdkaka. Seleene receives loads of attention (both negative and positive)à but rarely receives gratitude for all the incredibly hard work behind the scenes. Timon keeps us all laughing and happy, while Latex is the calm and collected voice of reason. I could go on naming names for an hour. Needless to sayà a tremendous æThank YouÆ goes out from me to all those of you who do so much to make EVE what it is for meà for all of us.
To all my alliance matesà a heartfelt æThank youÆ. IÆm sorry you donÆt hear it more frequentlyà and IÆll do my best to share my gratitude more often. If it werenÆt for all of you IÆd have left EVE five months and twelve days ago.
To everyone elseà when you watch an MC videoà take a moment to consider how many people are doing things that are little to no fun to make it all happen. There are people and lives behind the action.
Only two things in life are certain... and Mercenary Coalition doesn't do taxes. |

All I can say is wow. It continues to be a great ride . I can say I was somewhat overwhelmed with the level of dedication, organization and attention to detail that is in the MC. Some of the things I have seen just blew me away ie; Sel's work ethic (making sure our pilots have what we need at the drop of a hat) Farjung and his scanner or Eyeshadow and his Domi and Ishtar to name a few
Happy B-Day us and i'm looking forward to the comming year

I remember watching one of Eyeshadows videos a while back and I remember I was really impressed about the way they used HACs in combat. I was impressed by the balls the pilots showed. The pilots seemed to really know what they were doing and were keeping their cool in dangerous situations. Suffice to say I was impressed and started dreaming of flying my own HAC in Leeeroy combat situations and thought about how much fun it would be to become a mercenary.
Fortunately I knew some guys in NSN and was even more fortunately accepted into the corp. Today I fly my own HAC in stressful combat situations and I sometimes almost know what the hell I am doing.
Much love to all the MC and to all our targets ----------------------------------------------

Well, its been near on a year for me being in the MC and all in all it's been a blast. Started out as a carebear went through being a PvPer in c4 and CA and now i'm back to being a carebear in the Mining Coalition.
Being a merc was wholey different from what I was used to in my excellent ex-corp SUPRM flying alongside some of the greats in c4 and CA then when on to become the [5]. However the MC has its own share of "greats", some not as visible as Seleene and Leafo. Eyeshadow, Sivona, Farjung, Eelak and Generatorn, Recluse and Headwar . . the list goes on and could go on for all the players behind the nicknames in the Mercenary Coalition.
Its been a pleasure and a humbling eperience to fly alongside all of the incredible people, nay, friends, who have been a part of the MC, both past and present. These people have given so much to each other on so many levels its just a pity we all can't eet up more!
Thanks for the wild ride guys, long may we fly.

I was given my pilot wings on 7th of May 2003, and was met out of the station, by a recruiter for a new industrial corp "Elysiam" and shown the ropes on mining roids
I spent some time with this corp most notably mining in a punisher with the now CEO of "Supremecy" Stuart Ward (Hi Stu!)
After a while the oppertunities of 0.0 beckoned, and I joined a corp that later went on to co found the now defunct CFS, I loved thier ideals, but hated the politics.
About this time I read a post on the forums about a new corp calles "Mercenary Frigates" a pure combat corp that was about fighting, fun and strictly no politics, during the many incarnations of MF, I had a lot of fun, but as the game mechanics changed I am afraid MF lagged behind and the fun became less and less frequent, and although I counted the pilots of MF as my greatest friends in the universe, I had to move on or leave the game.
During my time I had watched a little known corp of killers led by a charasmatic person known as Seleene, becoming stronger and stronger, what they lacked in size they made up for with spirit, dedication and discipline.
I knew without increasing our teeth within MF we would become another no name gank squad, and thats not what I wanted from time within Eve, I wanted more.
I spoke to Seleene a few times and eventually an oppertunity for our two corps to work together arose, this was about the time of the formal alliances being introduced to Eve, and I considored that in future if you wanted to get into fight's that would actually mean somthing then you would need to be in an alliance of some sort.
The relationship lasted for about 40 minutes, unfortunatly the foundations of the two corps was to different, and friendship soured and turned into outright hostility, my vision was broken.
As at the time most of the leadership of MF felt that we needed to be in an alliance to ensure battles were avavilable in the future, we made a terrible error in accepting Xirtam's offer of membership into the CA, the least said on this the better, other than I do not blame Xirt, and I feel his offer was well meaning.
So we went back to Orvolle and resumed the nightly ganking of people entering the PF-346 0,0 entry point, staring at the sun and blowing up those not carefull enough, soon enough another war declaration came (not an un wellcome occurance in MF)
This time though, it was not angry industrialists, looking for vengance it was someone paid to kill us BDCI and Sharks.
I had become a frequent visitor to the BDCI forums, so I could not garner the hatred my fellow corp mates had for our attackers, and as I watched my corp crumble (from internal as well as external pressures) I was at a loss, do I go full pirate, or join an alliance?
Neither of these directions interested me, so it was with amazment, that Seleene offered me a place within her corporation, I accepted almost imediatly, there was altough one problem, we were camped in by BDCI/FRICK and as they were contracted to kill us, they would be oblicated to kill me, therefore I had to break free from the station and get an application into a local BDCI office, I am still the only combatant to enter the corp this way, and entering the station as red and exiting blue, was interesting, I ahlf expected to wake up in the cloaning station, at this stage I did not know the full extent of the honour of a BDCI pilot.
I would like to use this oppertunity to thank every member of the MC for the friendship and success we have achieved, every member within the MC is valued, everyone contributes in thier own way.
Our second year will be even better than the first one.
Raise a glass to the MC! -------------------------------------------------

I was gonna make a monster post but i figured there was really no need.
Everything has pretty much been said by others, and from my videos one can surely see just how big my heart is for the MC.
One thing though. I wanna give a huge shoutout to all the people in MC that are not frequently mentioned on these forums. Those are the people that makes it all tick and makes my gaming experience as good as it possible can be (without these people I could have stopped playing a long time ago).
People like myself, Seleene, Eyeshadow, Eelak, Generatorn, Lowa, Trooper etc. etc. don't really do anything but shining in the spotlight.
So, a big thank you to everyone in MC! Without the huge portion of team spirit, friendship and dedication we would never be were we are today.
Much love!
Cheers!

Through a very quick look at the numbers on the contracts page, in 19 completed ship contracts (including 4 solo contracts) as part of the offical MC (starting with FOE), MC corps have destroyed for our various clients around 100 billion isk in ships as judged by insurance costs. This was through approximatley 7500 specific contracted targets kills including ~900 BS and ~2400 pods.

It seems like only yesterday that Jade Constantine was calling us PA alts for taking our first proto-MC contract against Everlasting Vendetta. Almost two years on, and we've gained a load of mental Swedes and lots of fancy toys -- not to mention had a lot of great times. Life is good!

I imagine most people will say that FOE were the most fun to fight. Contraband were very cool too, although obviously that happened on a much smaller scale.
A quick look at the figures would indicate that V have killed us most. That was a very long contract though, so it's not suprising ----------------------------------------

That coupled with the fact the person who first got me interested in PvP now flys under your banner signifies that the next 12 months will be ever better!

I enjoyed the FOE contract 12 months ago immensely
Personal favourite was Imperium & Fountain as i spent 3 weeks roaming around more or less solo in my deimos. Most enjoyable that was
Recently the Veritas contract was also damn good fun as they came out to shoot us back (which can be rare). I think they are also responsible for killing us the most, which is testament to their skill.

Little over a year ago the Xetic war againts the Curse Alliance came to an end and there wasn't anything left for us to do due to having a very differant view then xetic. So we decided to become mercenarys, and a couple of weeks later we jonied up with BDCI, Frick and NSN to start the MC.
It has been an exciting year and we have been involved in almost every major conflict and the game has taken a new direction with capital ships, POS, outposts and more is to come. The MC will be on the front line in the future aswell, offering the best service possible in all aspecs of warfare.
Joining the MC was the best move we have done so far in this game. We are 4 differant corporations that are run very differant, we got alot of differant opinions and views on things but we allways have fun flying together making fun of eachother and having a laugh on TS. I have meet some great people in the MC and I hope more will come.

Most fun: Force of Evil. Had two to three fights a night. Frigs, BS, you name it. Twenty on twenty, five on five, ganks, ambushes, etc... No one went AFK for nearly three weeks. Local was always fun, no smack and respect on both sides.
Killed the most (alliance): -V-, but only because they came at us more than anyone else. It's easier to get kills when the enemy comes to fight all the time. -V- was almost as much fun to fight as FoE for this very reason. LD and his crew were always up for a good scrap.
Killed the most (corp): Celestial Horizon. They are big and sucessful. I guess that upsets people, hence we end up shooting at them a lot. -

When the MC was formed, I had my doubts. Someone to steal our kills? Why would we want that! But through the past year, we've learned to work together and fight together, and in some sense we've become one. We've been through so many fights that it's hard to separate them, but a few stand out:
-The FE war: this one was epic. We had constant running battles from Obe to New Caldari, and both sides brought it with a minimum of smack. We ended that contract with a lot of respect on both sides.
-Your war against Merchant Marines, primarily because I lost my Megathron engaging you at a gate when I should have stayed home :(
-Our fights against Xetic ... all three of them! They were always fun to work together in, and cemented our relationship.
We've got more big stuff coming up, so stay tuned. A few months back I celebrated my first year in sharks, and in may I'll be celebrating my third year in EVE. Let's hope I can look forward to the terrible twos from the MC! _______________________________________________

Not too long ago, I quietly celebrated my 2 years in Eve. Quite honestly, I had run out of much of the inspiration I had for this game a while back and was drifting somewhat aimlessly, my fingers nibbling with the "close account" button, but as I joined with the Sharks and the rest of the MC, to say I was inspired again would be an understatement. From the looks of it, let's just say that I'm firmly back in the game and ain't going anywhere.
This is pretty much all due to the people in the MC (and a bit due to the huge fleet of capital ships that just looks too f'ing awesome jumping in!) who have turned out to be very cool people. I'm very glad to be part of the squad and seeing how the people seem to constantly be willing to go the extra mile for me, a new guy in the pack, they can sure as hell count on me following them to the very gates of hell to pay back the courtesy (yes, even the crazy swedes .. hell, especially the crazy swedes!).
So, thanks guys, I'm glad to fly with y'all and I'm looking forward to the many, many contracts and what-not lie ahead of us.

After reading the first posts I found a new dimension to MC ive never see before.
Almost had a tear in my eye at afew moments, call me soppy etc, but its nice to see that some alliances and corps are just that close and know that every member adds to the whole.
I hope the MC continues to prosper and remain as close as ever :)
Being a merc is just like every other job in eve, sure u can get a bad name if u make it personal, but being "guns for hire" with a profesional touch as uve demonstrated is just commendable.

Yay and Happy Birthday to us! I'm still amazed that someone as bad at PvP:ing as me is allowed to fly with some of EVE:s finest
Most fun I had all year: Seleene misunderstanding where the rest of the MC fleet was and jumping a lone Raven into an Imp fleet (in Agil I think?). Thankfully he got out, with his ass on fire...the TS recording is at the end of one of the MC vids.
or possibly
Timon too drunk to be flying a Raven and claiming "Yes, I can warp to gate." when Sel asked if he was sober enough to PvP. I was gang-warped to a safe and made to log...
Much love for you all

As one of BDCI's, and still indeed one of the Mercenary Coalition's newest recruits, I thought it necessary to share a few thoughts of mine as to how me being in the MC came about, and my perception of the MC with regards to my own experiences in the last few months of my ride.
For roughly two years I flew as part of the Curatores Veritatis Alliance, as a Director within what is arguably the game's most famous roleplay Organisation - PIE Inc, fighting against Matari Terrorists, Pirates and others whom wished to jump in on the fame of "Destroying the great PIE Inc." (which failed, PIE is as strong now as it has ever been).
However, after two years, it reached a stage last summer whereby (as most Corporations do over summer periods) - members dropped off due to IRL, and activity across the board decreased. The leadership in place at the time were tired, and needed a break after 2 years of stalward defence of the Empire. A friend of mine, and a face recognised somewhat across the Universe - Golan Trevize, departed PIE and joined BodyCount Inc. He asked me at the time, and many more over the following months, to join him in his venture, and for many months, I declined, in favour of remaining within the CVA and combatting piratical behaviour in Providence.
At the end of October, I was given the lucky priviledge of visiting the Fanfest, and one of the first people whom I met in the Data Center was that of Seleene. My first thoughts of Seleene were nothing more than a "nice guy, like the videos" approach, and I thought nothing more of it until a couple of days later. During the PVP Tournament, I ran back into Seleene talking with Eyeshadow, and a few others (OmberZombie was present I believe), and I had the opportunity to hear first-hand with regard to the past, the present, and indeed the future of the Mercenary Coalition. The guy knew what he wanted, he knew when he wanted it, and he was a great guy to listen to. He had an aspiration, and the rest of the Mercenary Coalition wanted to follow in that dream. I spoke to him later that day and mentioned briefly that Golan thought I would be a good candidate to apply - but I believe Seleene fell under the impression of me as a "BDCI Fanboi", like the hundreds of others whom were present at the fanfest. He told me to speak to Draximus - which I did later that day from the Computers in the Data Center. During the PVP tournament at the Fanfest I was fairly lucky - both in terms of whom I faced and the tactics I put out on show - During the course of the day I vanquished a Moa, a Thorax and a Maller in the preliminary rounds of the tournament, whilst piloting the only Arbitrator used in the whole event. I switched out to a Caracal to defeat a Rupture piloted by a well-known EVE 'celeb', again comfortably coming through, and I heard more than one whisper in the background of people saying "who is this guy?" and "he roleplays? and can pvp? omg". As I said, luck had a lot to do with it, but I reached the Semi-Finals, and stood against the somewhat infamous Shin Ra of Burn Eden - I lost, fairly heavily, both due to pilot error and bad choices, although some revenge was attained in a straight up Thorax vs. Thorax fight afterwards, During the fights I heard Seleene and a few others from the MC + friends corner yelling advice, and my parting comment that evening to Seleene was "I'm still interested btw".
A couple of weeks later, and a heavy questionning through BDCI's application process, I emerged a BDCI recruit with alot of very positive feedback - and I joined midway through the 5 / -V- contracts at the end of the year. A very heavy contract to settle in to, but I believe my performance was positive. Eyeshadow played a major role in helping me settle in - both in allowing me a little freedom to get accustomed to the way different fleets run ops, (continued)

but also on a couple of occassions of bringing himself many jumps to tip the tables whilst I was baiting enemies out in Empire - the most notable of which turned from being a Thorax/Malediction (both myself) versus an Apoc/Wolf/Scorpion into a battle where the Apoc escaped on 1% structure, and the Scorpion ceased it's existance in a bloody explosion. For the first time in 6-8 months, I felt at home.
BDCI, FRICK, NSN, -TC- - all famous corps in their own right, all with direction, all with grit determination and iron resolve, but also the finest assortment of pilots/pvpers/fleet commanders, but more importantly - people - in the game.
This bit goes out to BDCI though - to Seleene, to Draximus, and to the likes of Cowboy/Tov/Siv and everybody else.
You made EVE fun for me again, that I cannot repay :)
(Thanks for reading - I know it's been long, but it's from the heart :))
To another year in the MC - in my eyes the greatest establishment in EVE.
P.S. Seleene, can we PLEASE get more red blinkies soon???

I would not know where to start or what to say to make the rest of you truely understand just how much I love being a member and a part of MC, or how proud I am to be carrying that MC tag.
I have been a part of this family for 10 months, never have I looked back or regret my choise to join.
Still to this day I get chocked over just how close we are, how we are so much more then an alliance but honestly a family. When rl is hell you can rest assure that there will always be someone in MC there, talking to you, listening and understanding.
Most of you will probably need a bucket or two if I go into just how much the MC members mean to me. So I wont, instead I hope you can understand just how valuble an alliance like this is, how rare and how fricking amazing it is.
Our pilots are awesome, both solo and in a team. We do misakes too but the best part is that we can all laugh at them. I even think it is good when we get an ass whopping, gets us to our toes again
Thank you for allowing me into the family I today hold so dear <3

May the next year, be yet another steppingstone to the mountain of kill ratio.

Grats MC! You guys have brought a whole new element to EVE, and have become one of the most powerful and respected factions in the game, an accomplishment to be proud of.
If anything, you've put my 5 person pirate/merc corp in beta to shame

Ive been a gamer for 20+ years now and the last @2 years in BDCI and now the MC have been by far the most enjoyable and rewarding. I only expect that satisfaction to grow as I see what we have become and what we are planning. The thing I like most about the MC is that our profession allows us a role in virtually every major conflict in EVE. We will continue to do such and someday when the servers shut-down and the final chapter of EVE is written, hopefully the community will look back and credit the MC for so much conflict and resolution. Hopefully they will see us as one of the few major forces that truely helped shape the game.
It is not just the fancy guns and fame that makes being in the MC and BDCI so great. It is due to the people we fly with day in and day out. From the drunken evenings camping a station to the thoughtful words that poured in upon the death of a loved one, BDCI and the MC has made me feel like part of a group in no way Ive ever experienced.
Actions speak louder than words so it should go without mentioning but I would like to say Seleene has a vision for this game that is unparalleled. As we reached the top he continually kept us evolving and challenged making the game more meaningful and rewarding. So for the everlasting patience and dedication, but more so for the friendship Id like to give a big thnx to Seleene.
To the rest of the MC, congrats on the milestone. Each corp has served a vital role. It would all have been impossible without each and every person and that knowledge makes what we have that much sweeter. Lets keep it up!!

Wow, a year. It's hard to grasp everything it actually consists of. Looking back time sure has gone by fast. But when I start remembering in more detail, I start to understand all that has happened during the past year.
When I started out in late '04 the universe was vast and I was determined from the start to fully embrace the pvp side of the game, because that's what got me interested. The universe seemed so vast, and there was a lot to learn, so I held back at first. I spent my first three months in a small industrial corp called Deutronic Transport Industries. My experience was very positive, and the guys (whom I still regularly keep in contact with) supported me and taught me the basic concepts and ways things work.
Soon I learned what EVE could be, and I tried different aspect of the game (from simple rat hunting and mining to trade routes and lab slot hogging), and slowly started to have I more confidence in my skillpoints, although I was unquestionably still a noob.
So the day came that I decided it was time for me to move on. At the time, many DTRI members had gone inactive (army or other commitments and WoW) and the corp soon to be disbanded.
I knew very little about EVE politics, but I started paying more attention to the forums (which, I know, was a devastating mistake) and browsed through recruitment ads. I made my own, and received several replies that I was considering.
As it happened, I decided to give it a go and try to apply to MC. I first sent a mail to Seleene, and was advised that FRICK was currently recruiting, so I turned to them. Some crazy-ass panty and haiku loving piraty lunatics. Sounded extremely good, so I left an application and ran 'the gauntlet' (a questionnaire of 101 silly questions), and was accepted.
That was the best thing that has ever happened to me in EVE. I can't even begin to imagine where I would be now, or what I would've missed if I was rejected instead. And thank God Oveur I wasn't!
I had zero prior pvp experience, but I learned fast. And I wanted more. Later, I also wanted to help run the corp and shape our future and was voted a director some ~6-7 months ago. Even if we are politically neutral, the "politics" are there, and it has been very interesting. Since I've also had no boring times at work (such a lot of whoruming!)
All in all, I've had an amazing experience, and not only gamewise but I've gained many good friends and learned a lot. During this past year, I've also grown as a person, and I would be lying if I said that being in FRICK, and in MC has not played a role in that.
I would like to express my sincere and huge gratitude to the people that have made this possible, and continue to work for this little pretend spaceship community we have. Including names that don't get mentioned often such as Hygelac, Squagel, Charity or Latex Mistress. This is not the nobel awards so I'll leave it at that, albeit many would deserve a mention.
Once again, thank you and OMGPBDAY-YARRRTY!11
