A stupid scammer would run off with 2,5b ISK. A clever scammer would pay out huge initial dividends, generating a hype and leading to a total sell-out of all aviable (and totally underpriced) IPO shares. Then he would sell all the shares he kept in reserve for 25k each via alts / friends / main character. In the end, not only would he have made enough money to actually justify the effort, he also would appear to be the victim, not the criminal ...
Countess Oracle is still logging in from time to time, so no matter what could have happened in life (there are enough tragedies that can happen) - if you can log on for 5 minutes, you can post a small note with apologies to your investors.
I only lost 225m on this though (9k shares that i bought for 25m and could have sold for 25k each on the peak of the hype).

I've read this thread out of idle interest, and lo and behold, while lurking in the Ships channel the other day, Countess Oracle enters the channel with this message:
"WTF! OMG! I put a 1 bil isk bpo on escrow and it's only selling for 500 mil and I can't get it off!"
According to the regulars, that was the second or third day in a row she'd done that with the exact same message.
So, you've been scammed, skinned, and hung out to dry. Good luck in your future endeavors.

Thanks for the heads up. I'd also like to point out that there's a fake countess running around. One of the o's is replace with a zero or something like that. The real countess is on my buddies list. I saw a countess oracle scamming the help channel a while ago, but he wasn't on according to my buddies list.

I would like to add that scamming is a pretty horrible thing to do, but such is the world (both here and in-game) that we live in.
Put it down to lessons learned and move on.

I can confirm that the "countess oracle" spamming the escrow message is indeed the fake countess oracle. I found him spamming the message on the corp channel of my alt's newb corp, did a show info, and did a search for the real one:

I know im taking one hell of a risk here but here it goes:
Im one for making crazy high risk investments that usualu dont pay off but when they do I make good isk
That said: I am willing to buy all shares left over, please name a GOOD price and we will work something out. Im thinking 500 each maybe 1000.

Yeah, I've seen her logged in once (the real one, not the fake). I'm an optimist... I hope she has just been unable to log in for personal reasons, not because she was trying to scam us.

Wow, I must say that after stumbling across this thread and reading the first 10 pages or so, full of optimism, promises of good growth, happy shareholders, and then jumping to the last page I have quickly learned about the risks involved in buying shares.

Well, Forum scamming is not allowed, and if Countess really is escrowing lots of stuff, is that anything CCP can do to prevent someone scamming in the future via eve forums?
EDIT: Does CCP have to power to install one of us as a Director if we combine shares so we can see the wallet of GSPX?

IF i remember correct, only things linked to RL Money are protected by CCP.
If you want to purchase a GTC for ISk and the guy scams you, you will be reimbursed. But i fear there is no reimbursement for IG scams. Even if they started on the forums.

Countess Oracle now logs on regularly, and for prolonged periods of time. Just like someone who would play the game... she did not disapear at all. So there is nothing to salvage. I would bet money that she is a tradeskill alt.
The only thing i really care about is wether this scam was a good one (most the characters selling shares for 25k each were Countess Oracle alts / friends) or a pathetic one (countess only made 2b or so, rest was just hype).

Well, All I want to see is the wallet of GSPX so I know who to point my lasers to now that Macro Media is podded. This was a scam started via the forums and I am surpised COuntess did not get at least a week's ban for breaking the EULA with respect to forum usage.

$$$ are protected since people can sue CCP, as forums are their property. However the ELUA stats that forums cannot be used for scamming, and Countess broke the rules.... with no penelty. Does that mean anyone can run fake auctions etc and blaitently scam people with no respect to the EULA? Is a forum ban not in order at least?
But ultimatly, in the past, if you had shares you could start a vote. not anymore. But if someone were to combine all the shares to make up 51% and perhaps a GM starts a vote, since its an abandoned corp anyway, then we may be able to see the wallet transactions and know who to shoot. I mean, we could have done that without any probs a few months ago, but not anymore as shareholders cannot start votes now.

Countess didnt scam anyone. After all, everyone got their shares. Hell, everyone even got dividends.
We dont know if she got a forum ban, since well, we didnt hear anything from her. Its not against the EULA to scam on the forums, its against the FORUM RULES. Same as bumping your auction twice a day. Same crime.
And i say it again, its no use to look at GPSx wallet, since the real scam happened with other characters (like klesara) who sold GPSx shares well above IPO price. The question remains wether this was planned all along, or just a coincidence (I know at least someone who sold 1b worth of shares after countess disappeared, and i doubt that he is involved in that scam).
The GPSx scam wasnt executed as perfectly as it could have been. It could even be some kind of mental "shame / pressure" thing, hell knows.

Hello all that read this forum. I am the son of the person that plays countess oracle. My dad will no longer be playing the game but asked me to try to complete his project. He taught me a bit about this game but I am still learning and I am sorry to say I dont have his knack for this game. I understand that people loaned him money to start this compnay and he wanted me to make sure everyone got back their money. I am currently running around to stations collecting all the valuables and breaking them down to the base minerals and selling the minerals. Every 100 million isk that is earned i will return to the partners throught the dividend payout thing. After reading throught just a few of the posts on this last page I ask that everyone please cease with the comments regarding scamming. My father never stole anything from anyone. All assets of the company will be returned to the partners. I am guessing, based on my first full load of valuables brought back to base for smelting, that there may be 3-4 billion isk in assets. But that is a guess based on what i have done so far. Please dont ask me a bunch of questions because i dont have a whole lot of answers and someone just showed me these forums. One major asset that is on the escrow missions right now is a Ferox BPO that was researched to 16 material efficiency. I have had an offer of 350 mill for it and someone has already said that is a fair offer so unless anyone else thinks I should ask more, I will sell that. Thanks for your patience and i look forward to getting this wrapped up for my dad.
