As I saw nothing for recent cards and plan to buy one for a brand new pc here is a good question :
what new cards (X800+ or GeForce GT6800) do not have issues at all with Eve and is there any benchmarks on Eve about them ... Which ones do not offer any improvements (server lag being the nastiest thing) and which configuration(s) will be safe to continue smooth playing for 2 years at least ?
Thanks...

Good luck... the answer will be of interest to me as well. Lots of 'suddenly bad' video cards for Eve players. Something seems to be wrong and nobody from CCP has posted replies, at least that I have seen, regarding the recent Eve changes that fostered a crop of unstable video cards.
Has anyone at all from CCP said what was changed in the Jan patch that caused all the player woe? Or if a solution ws forth coming?
6 weeks, 500+ login attempts, maybe, MAYBE, 1.5 hours of total playing time.... if playing consists of setting a skill fast, before you CTD. Love Eve, just wish I could play it again.

Well I have a Geforce GTO 6800 PCI-E card that came with my Dell XPS Gen 5.
Had no problems yet - played for about 3-4 hours solid last night doing the (very impressive) new tutorial.
So I guess you could class the 6800 as compatible.
In general, I would go for cards that are the most popular. This usually means a medium class Geforce (i.e. 6800 not 7800 class card). I know the ATI's are technically better, but to be honest, the Geforces tend to be better supported in games.
Just my $0.02

I have read about problems with ATI for this game, but I think that is for the older cards.
I have an X800SE and never had any issues during my 14-day trial. My kid has a GeForce 6800 and he didn't mention any issues when he was playing the trial, either.

Have run eve on; nvidia fx5200 128Mb and it ran just fine (over 24 fps) on a p4 1.8 with 1gig ram. max detail, 1024x768 res.
now i run a p4 3.0HT and a ATI mobility x600 128mb and it zooms along up to 60fps @ 1400x900res. Have had no CTD with the exceptions of "lost server" issues, but was a prob with ISP... and now sorted..

I have an NVidia 6800 LE and it works beautifully. I still get flickering textures on Amarr stations but I think everyone gets that. Tbh though Eve performance is hard to predict. I think you would be well advised to get a card with a lot of RAM on it. I have 256MB video RAM on mine. My old laptop only has 128MB and I think that's what's causing its problems. -- (Battle hardened miner)

I must be the only one using ATI Radeon Mobility X600 (128MB) - but then again my graphichs have always worked just fine. EVE does kick my fans on right after logging into the game...
I'm using HP pavillion zd8000 with 3GHz P4 and 1GB of RAM (+17" widescreen) which sums up as a pretty decent laptop. This is backed up by a fact that only problems that I have had with EVE are some connection issues and lags and "Normal" game related problems.

P4 3.4HT, 1 Gig Ram, BFG 7800GT OC, Random CTD's, since sever upgrade, before the upgrade the only problems were lag and a killer game memory leak, which is still here, just not as bad as it was. Stay Chilly & Watch Your Six!

I have an Athlon 64 3200+ 2 gigs of ram and a Geforce 7800 GT and framerate wise the game runs like a champ at high res (1280 x 1024 my LCD's native res) just like any other game on the market today on this card, Highly reccomended video card, i have heard great things about the new ATI's as well, but Nvidia's do tend to be more compatible with less bugs in games in general from my experience i have owned many video cards over the years Voodoo, Voodoo2 & SLI Voodoo2, Riva TNT2 ultra, Geforce 256, Geforce 2 GTS, Geforce 3 Ti500, Radeon 9600 Pro, Radeon 9800 Pro, Geforce 6800, and currently have 2 cards in my system Geforce 7800 GT & GF4 MX4000 the reason for running 2 video cards is to power 3 monitors the MX is a PCI card

7800 GS, game runs smooth as silk 1600 by 1200, and looks awesome
Lappy: 6400 go game runs OK, 1024 by 768. Obviously, the 7800 trumps the 6400, but the lappy is still good.

I have an ATI radeon 9200SE (my 6600gt just burnt up after the fan died overnight) and the game runs like crap. Barely playable graphics lag, typing in a chat is like mega 4 min lag but there is no lag at all, I get parts of the game window on my desktop after closing the game. My old PIII system with 128mb ram and an fx5200 runs it much much better.
