"Your computer only supports DX9" is what the Launcher Settings -> DirectX says. Odd, given I run WIndows 7 and a GTX560 TI, which is validated by Nvidia to support DX11. Even odder given the Sisi client allows me to run DX11.
Ideas? |

Same issue here, just different hardware. I can run about 2 dozen games in DX11 mode... |

We'll investigate this. Don't worry - you're not missing out on any features running on DX9 - this is exactly why we wanted to release purely an engine update first, before adding DX11 specific features. |

Features, no, but there are some optimization differences depending on the hardware and the driver layer. I was looking forward to full HDR and anti-aliasing without lag. ;) |

To help debug this issue, could you copy your EVE Launcher logs to http://pastebin.com/ You can find them under the launcher\cache folder in your EVE installation, and they will be named launcher-2013-11-19.log, or similar. EVE Launcher - Team Special Circumstances |

Can you guys please verify for me what dx version the client actually runs on?
If you hit Ctrl-F to bring up the FPS meter, it'll show it in the upper left corner. |

When I hit the FPSmeter ingame it says dx11
When i try the settings in the launcher it says dx11 is not supported and its set to dx9 without being able to switch anything.
If i run dxdiag on my win7 64bit i get the confirmation i have dx11 installed and there are no problems
When i try to play the game as it is starting i cannot play it, having fps of 2-12, while i was used to play the old expansion on full max with perfect 60 fps on intervall 1.
thank you CCP for listening to this problem when i reported this for the sisi client already 2 times. |

Try running DirectXRedist.exe from the EVE\bin folder - we're investigating whether our check for whether this needs to be run or not may be incomplete.
Please post your results, if this helps at all. |

According to that log file you started the game from the launcher at 16:17, and it was started with DX11. Then I see you starting the launcher a couple more times and opening settings (presumably to change to DX9) but at no point I see you start the client again. Did you leave the client running while trying to change the setting? That won't work, sorry, you need to restart the EVE client for it to be applied. I opend the launcher to check if i still cant choose between dx9 and dx11 in the settings. AND I CANT.

I started the game now like 100 times? I know the problem already from Sisi it wont help. The game starts with dx11 thou in the launcher it says dx9 and I have serious FPS issues. DO YOU UNDERSTAND NOW?

To get around the launcher issues at least. Create a shortcut pointing to bin/ExeFile.exe, add /triPlatform=dx9 /noconsole to the command line. |

Little confused as to why I can use the launcher for Sisi with DX11 but not tranquility. Someone with some knwoledge please explain this too me. Might be better to PM me in game. |

Create a shortcut pointing to bin/ExeFile.exe, add /triPlatform=dx11 /noconsole to the command line.
Of course it's not really needed - dx11 is the default. If dx11 is not supported for any reason it will still fall back to dx9. |

I have a Geforce 8800GT card which only supports Directx10 running under Windows 7 64 bit. The Eve launcher reports that I can only run Directx9 but the Eve client will not run and complains that there is a problem with driver D3DX10_42.DLL.
I have tried reinstalling Directx from Microsoft and using the Eve supplied drivers neither allow me to run Eve. I have also tried to force Directx9 by using the command line you provided but Eve so will not run.
This appears to be an issue with the code in the Eve client which controls the Directx version not recognising cards that support Directx10.
I am currently able to play Eve so am not a happy bunny!!!!

CCP Snorlax,
The Windows error message I get when I press "Play" in the Launcher, or when I directly run "evefile.exe /triPlatform=dx9 /noconsole" is:
"C:\Windows\system32\d3dx10_42.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.".
I get this message once then Eve runs "DirectXRedist.exe" then I receive the same error message twice and am returned to the launcher window.
I have run "DirectXRedist.exe" re-booted my PC and then tried to run EVE and reloaded DirectX using the latest download from the Microsoft site rebooted my PC and then tried to run EVE and I get the same error on each occasion.
I was able to run Eve after the Rubicon launch, the problem occurred after update 1.01 was applied. The problem still appears in 1.02.
If there is any other information I can provide or any other tests I can run to assist you in resolving this issue please tell me.
Thanks. |

Thanks Simon Yes, sorry, we're juggling quite a few issues. My colleague looked into this, and we can't figure out what is going wrong. It seems as if something has gone wrong with your DirectX installation, although I'm not sure how that could happen as you were running fine before. Do other games run without issues?
I suggest you try running the DirectX installer from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113, or the end-user runtime web installer: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35.
Let me know if this solves any issues - if not, we'll have to take another look. |

I have re-run the end-user runtime web installer: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 and get the message:
"DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already. No installation is required".
Based on information provided by Microsoft here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/diagnosing-basic-problems-with-directx I reinstalled Eve - I am still unable to run EVE and receive the previously described error messages.
I also confirmed that I can still play Borderlands 2 without any problems.
I have noticed a number of similar issues have been raised by users in the forums since Rubicon was launched. Though in most cases nobody seems to be querying the DirectX level supported by the users Graphics card. I suspect that some if not all of these cards only support DirectX 10 and this is the trigger for the problem.
Thanks

Create a shortcut pointing to bin/ExeFile.exe, add /triPlatform=dx9 /noconsole to the command line. Start up the log server first, then run EVE with this shortcut.
File a bug report, put my name in the title so it gets routed to me directly, attach the logs. We'll figure this out. |

Do you have a DX11 video card? That 'DirectX Version' listed in dxdiag's 'System' tab is just what version of the directx API is running on your system, which for win7, should be DirectX 11. however, that does not mean your GPU supports DirectX 11 features, which is what eve checks for when allowing DirectX 11 mode. |

Where do I add the \triPlatform=dx9 \noconsole line? I made the shortcut but I am not sure where to add the new part. When I try to add anything it tells me invalid and doesn't let me change anything. I don't know enough about programming. |

Hey, I'll post here since my post wasn't seen it seems.
I had a similar problem with my dirctx11. I didn't know what was happening but my computer started crashing a lot this last few days. I would play for 10 to 20 minutes and the video would freeze and neither my mouse nor my keyboard would work. My only option was to restart the pc. And that only started happening these days which got me thinking about what changed and I remembered about directx. I changed the settings back to 9 about 2 days ago and haven't experienced any crashes and my laptop hasn't been heating up as it was these few days.
So, from what I saw the only explanation is the directx11 change which makes me wonder if there is anything that I can do to fix that. I checked that dxdiag and my pc has the 11 version too.
Any ideas? |

Yep, worked for me.
ASUS X550LB notebook, Win7/64 with Intel Core i5 4200U and NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M both listed as display devices - might have had something to do with that, though both are capable of DX11.
Best of luck to all of you still tweaking and searching =)

A bit necroposting, but as the OP...
Client still claims that my computer cannot run anything other than DX9. No change, and from the FanFest presentations, it appears there is an impact now of running DX11 (smaller memory footprint, though it looks like the frame times are higher). |

I've been experiencing a lot of stutter since the latest update and I'm also getting this "Your computer only supports DX9" in the Launcher DirectX tab. Also, in game, CTRL-F says it's DX9 too.
I have created a shortcut to CCP\EVE\bin\exefile.exe and in the "target" field, added /triPlatform=dx11 /noconsole (so it looks like "D:\blablabla\CCP\EVE\bin\exefile.exe" /triPlatform=dx11 /noconsole)
This bypasses the launcher, but gives me nice smooth playing and CTRL-F says it's DX11 now.
Still, I like the launcher, but what can you do? |

Hello,
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I have the same problem here. I tried all the suggested solutions, even the one in the previous post, which seems to have helped Mister Tallyman.
I have multiple other games running Dx11 on my computer, yet the EvE Launchers says my computer can only run Dx9.
Dxdiag shox that I'm using Dx11 as well.
The FPS window confirms that EvE is running on Dx9. "I will not hesitate when the test of Faith finds me, for only the strongest conviction will open the gates of paradise. I would really like to get some help with this. "I will not hesitate when the test of Faith finds me, for only the strongest conviction will open the gates of paradise. My Faith in you is absolute; my sword is Yours, My God, and Your will guides me now and for all eternity." - Paladin's Creed |
