he would go around and see which homes did not have any smoke comming out of the chimney. (the ones who were too poor)

Though i think with the commercialization of christmas the coal eneded up being a bad thing.
Interesting how once something was good ended up being a bad thing.

yeah, I was going to wait until after Turkey day myself, but I wanted to try to get CCP involved a little early for planning.
seems I should have contacted them sooner.
I find the whole commercialization of Christmas bothersome though, it detracts from the real things that we should focus on like goodwill toward men, remembering the sacrifice made for us and the spreading of glad tidings and goodwill toward our fellow man.
I understand that EvE is a harsh place, but still, we are all human and I know in my heart that we can set aside our differences for one short period each year and share with our brethren the joy of the season.
I saw some of that last year and for what small part I played in bringing that to fruition, I was proud and humbled, filled with Joy and satisfaction and I owe it all to those of you who live in New Eden.
OK, LOL, enough of the soapbox...
I have been told that I will have a plex to give out to the winner of the rookieship brawl.

The bank sent me a letter offering me a credit card to "spread the cost of christmas", they are so considerate to allow people to experience those festive memories right up until the final bill in July. Then only a few months until the adverts start for the next Xmas, it will almost be like you are never free of christmas, won't that be wonderful. |

I must say that there are some aspects of Christmas that would be great to have around all year, but none of those are the commercial aspects of it.

It would be impossible for me to make it an all day event since there are only a couple of us actually "doing it" and because of that, the original plan is to start at about 6 :00 PM EST (11:00 pm EvE time) and go until we either run out of gifts to give out, or fall asleep at the KBD...
I'll see if my helpers want to start a little earlier and I'll post the time here in the OP if they do.

OK, a brief update:
first off, thanks to the Mittani for the awesome mention December 12, 2013 By Alizabeth at http://themittani.com/news/spreading-little-christmas-cheer
I never thought I would make news there, or anywhere else when I started this.
next, I have received several contracts so far with some nice modules and blueprints as well.
there's even a Tech 2 frigate that's been donated with a great fit on it, and many more items.
Currently, we have stuffed over 300 small containers with modules, BPCs, drones and other items and we aren't done yet.
Thank you to everyone for the donations so far, they are en-route to the event location now
