I'm sure your all tired of this subject, but I cannot find one that is up to date on this topic. All of the recommendations I have found are discontinued models. Please forgive me
I'm leaving the country for a few months and I am looking for the cheapest laptop capable of running my 2 accounts simultaneously for some fun mining while I'm abroad. Black friday is in a few days so maybe I can really score with the help of the Eve community.
Many thanks in advance |

Did you place fun next to mining?
You either need to look up the definition of fun....or actually try mining.... |

2 accounts should be no problem today for a lot of current models with a somewhat decent dedicated mobile graphics card using graphics set to medium.
Get something with 6GB or more though.
Remove insurance. |

You definitely do not want your cheap laptop to start swapping lots of data. Remove insurance. |

Well thats my problem... I dont really have a budget. As I said before, the cheapest possible laptop to run 2 accounts at the same time. I want to keep it under or at the most 500 and change. |

Small ssd and a larger mechanical drive, intel i5 cpu, 4gb ram, and a discreet gpu. Newegg and amazon have good laptop deals for black friday. |

Yes that makes sense. Is there something out there in my price range that I might be able to customize in the range of $500 you could recommend? I've been looking at toshiba satellites but I'm not sure about the graphics processors in them. |

Can be done.
How's this for budget: Gateway NV56R14u ($375.00 from Target 6 months ago). Add 4 GB RAM stick (Crucial from Micro Center, $42.00).
Will run just fine with multiple clients in windowed mode with default graphics settings while outputting a movie to another screen in a 1/4 sized browser window off of Netflix. The trick is to disable audio on each client and get used to Eve in silent mode. I know... I wouldn't have thought audio playback would have made a huge difference either. And by multiple clients, I mean 6.

That sounds great!
But this is whats bugging me. I pulled this from the forums
Recommended System Configuration: OS: Windows 7 / 8 CPU: Intel i7 Series or AMD X4 @ 2.0 GHz or greater RAM: 4 GB or higher Video: AMD Radeon 6790 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 or better with at least 1 GB VRAM
The difference between i5 and i7 for gaming on a laptop is minimal. i5 has been the go-to gaming cpu for years now, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you can get more than 4gb ram I'd go for it.

Look at this model on amazon or newegg. About 100 over your budget but it has a good video card with 2gb video ram, 6gb ram, i5 cpu, windows 8 and great reviews. |

I run two clients on an i7 with 8gb RAM and 1GB dedicated video. It handles two clients pretty easily on medium settings.
Check at SAMs club or Costco if you have a membership to either. I got the aforementioned laptop for 800 instead of 1500 due to it being the shelf model. They will cut crazy deals like that all the time.
As for a computer more to your budget, I would worry about the processor and RAM first and foremost, and then worry about the video card. If you end up with a low resolution screen, the video card isn't going to need to be as powerful (you are still going to want some dedicated video though).
I would stay far away from Gateway, Compaq, Acer, Toshiba, and Sony. Having worked in a comp repair shop for 7 years, I saw nothing but problems with those, and in the case of ACER and Gateway, they were having issues within a year. (Granted the people using them were not the brightest individuals, but still.) |

You can run Two clients on the A10 laptops no problem. I have one, and I do, they work amazing. You can find them for 300 to 500 all day. The "A" series laptops are true gems for 2nd machines for gamers. I own the Lenovo IdeaPad Z585, 6GB ram. 450 bucks. It also run GW2, WoT, PoE, the list goes on and on, no problem.

It does not get excessively hot, runs great and stays pretty cool, I take it to LAN parties and will game for 12 hours straight no problem. The microphone is in a really annoying spot, you end up resting your left hand over it while typing so your always lifting your left hand off the keyboard to talk in vent, very bad design choice, I ended up pugging in an external mic for heavy vent necessary gaming sessions. The laptop is light and sleek though.
If you do go with this Lenovo, make sure you register it WITH Lenovo when you get it to start the warranty over, it's a software program that runs on initial start-up. If you don't you will lose several months of the warranty. Once you register it online, you'll get a e-mail confirmation of the registration and the official start date of the warranty.
You can't trick the system like the old days and "wait" to register then start the warranty. The laptop comes with a warranty that starts when "that ebay guy" buys it from Lenovo and starts ticking down and then "re-starts" once you register it, if you wait too long, you'll miss the window to register after he's sold it.
Good luck!

Just to put in, the intel 4000 graphics seems to work pretty well with eve. I can play with graphics all up, but then the computer overheats pretty quickly so I only have textures and shadows to high. With 2 clients in high performance works.
I have a zenbook prime, out of your budget I know, but the intel 4000 chip is in a lot of the cheaper models too, so you don't have to chase after the dedicated graphics card to play eve on a budget. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834312446
Lenovo IdeaPad U510
6GB DDR3 (Upgradeable to 8GB) Intel Core i5-3337U 1.8GHz 1TB HDD+24GB SSD (just enough room on SSD for a game) Intel HD Graphics 4000 (Video Memory is shared)
Thats the gist of its guts. I dear the touchpad is crap but I plan to use a mouse anyway

I wonder where did you get those numbers. I tried (about 2 months ago) and ran 3 eve clients on an old 2gb/winxp pc with no problems. Yes, it's a bit boring to wait at start (hdd bottleneck), but later all goes fine and smooth. |

So then I guess Its safe to say I should be fine with this laptop that I just bought? It looks like I will be testing its limits to seeing how I just bought 2 more accounts for a total of 4 o7. I hope it can at least handle them all on the lowest settings. Ill probably end up upgrading the RAM to 8GB before I leave for my trip, just to be safe |

I've never run more than 2 clients, with only two accounts it would be difficult, so I can't say about running 7. However, due to space restraints I have several other gams running off a portable drive. So EQ2, Aion, AgeofWushu, Ageof Conan etc, are all on the usb drive. Load time can be long, but otherwise it's all good.
