I've linked this from my guild forums along with Tripoli's skills guides as some of the most helpful threads in the Skills section.
I've referred people to this thread and Tripoli's thread on learning skills several times. As a relatively new player, I've found both invaluable. Putting them together in some sort of guide for new players would be an excellent idea.

Another thing worth mentioning is the fact that most of the engineering/mechanics/electronics related skills use intelligence & memory as primary attributes. So a new player could just power those two attributes to advanced level 4, and then take a break from the learning tree by training these core skills up. Intelligence and memory are also the primary attributes for the other basic learning skills, so you can alternate between training learning and engineering/mechanics/electronics.

Nice short to te point a guide new player can understand and take into the game so tere prepared and more aware of the skills required and nice to have to fly ships well in eve

Thanks for the posts man, muchos helpful to this trial account newb. Now planning the next 30 days training...I guess that means playing beyond the trial account then :D
Encouraging ppl to play on in EVE....worth a pot of glue and a quick brush?

Thank you very much for this. Helpful guide to what 'general' skills to train in between specific module related ones, and after learnings are up to a fair standard.
Could this thread have set a record for the most amount of sticky requests without it being done?!

Thank you for making this thread. It's exactly what I was looking for. Im really new and needed a little guidance about what to work on first.
Is it possible you could clean the post up a little bit with formatting, some [.b] & [./b] bolding, and such so it is easier for someone who has never seen this stuff before to understand it? Also, a bit more explanation might help as well. 'Cap' and 'more cap' are probably EvE terms that someone new is not likely to understand, among others.
Thanks so much, now just need to make it a bit easier to understand! 
PS- should learning be on there? Everyone was telling me in game to get learning and analytical mind.

Learning Skills Thread <-- That thread covers the learning skills. They help you learn everything else faster.
This thread was created to help folks learn the proper skills in order to fly and operate their ships better. As opposed to mining or manufacturing, for example.
Dictionary <-- This link has a bunch of terms used in EVE.
Cap means capacity, think of it as a giant battery used to power your weapons and equipment on your ship.
