And would be appliable in a lot more places. Unless you think the gallente would be camping the undock of their own stations? Its all ridiculous anyway.. the whole nebula thing. Also presumably with this new texturing in place we will eventually be able to reskin our ships somehow so hopefully if you don't like the camo you can just buy a new skin. The camo on the Navy Comet and Hookbill is a big mistake though. They should really change that back.

If anything, paint schemes on EVE ships are more akin to uniforms identifying the pilot's allegiance -- keep in mind that the faction ships were designed originally for use by the originating faction's pilots, no doubt most faction ships are held by faction pilots rather than capsuleers, and the paint scheme serves as free advertising for the faction. That said, real-life navies did use camo-like paint schemes. See the Wiki article on the subject as well. Part of the idea was to break-up the silhouette of the ship so that it would be difficult to visually ascertain its size and bearing. The same principle could be applied to ships in EVE. Besides which, this is a game about imaginary spaceships that behave like bowling balls in a tub of oil. Why worry about realism?
