Do you find that it is worth it to collect the loot from level 3 or 4 missions? If so what ships do you loot in? I'm thinking an exequoror with tractor beams and mwd.

I found that the most effective loot scooper was a Sigil with 5 nanofibres and a named 10mn AB, its brilliant :)

I've seen exactly that looter in action, Exeq with Tractor Beams, made it really easy to clear a huge amount of cans. So I've seen it, and I will train it =)

Raven with 2 tractorbeams works very good for me, just collect the cans while shooting the rats =) . Seriously Have I Not Said How I Can Assist Some One You Are Killing Online? |

Now that Science IV is all you need for tractor beams I think I'll add them to my Exeqruor, good plan!

I use 2 ships for looting when there are a lot of cans.
Maller 6x Small Tractor Beam
10MN AB II 10MN MWD II (having both gives nice travel options without refitting) Large Peroxide Battery
6x Local Hull Nanos
Sigil 2x Small Tractor Beam
10MN AB II Sensor Booster II PL-0 shipment probe
5x Local Hull Nanos
Tried the Exequeror but it's much slower at looting. Only 4 tractor beams and 3 low slots for nanos makes it a pig compared to the loot Maller.

Science 4 after the Blood patch this week, just hold on a couple days..
Since I fly a Raven for lvl4's what I do is use a tractor beam in one slot to gather all the cans together in one spot while killing and come back in a sigil to pick everything up.
Most multi-spawn and deadspace missions generate over 1200m3 of loot, which pretty much requires an indy for haulage.
I personally don't recommend using an MWD for this though, reason being is that you tend to bounce so far off the can that you have to reverse course and come back to it. you have to use the MWD in pulses and anything under about 5km from you is going to make you bounce. Lotsa micromanagement.
Best mission loot pickup by far is sigil/10mn AB/5x nanos. Turns and accelerates like a frig and can run the AB continuously.

I have a small tractor beam fitted to my cerberus and just collect loot while I do the mission - usually only needs a quick 5 min scoot around afterwards to mop up the extra cans.

I experimented with a lot of looting ships. So far the winner is the Gallente cruiser Exequror. I use 4 beams, AB and MWD (use them as needed to get in range of beams, dont use them to bump into cans). 3 semi-named cargo expanders (marked modified SS, 17%) in low give me 1260m3 cargo which will be enough for almost all missions.
And I loot everything. Corp buys the minerals from reprocessing and my alt (trading skills) puts sales orders for any item that's worth more than 400.000 isk. Money adds up nicely ;)

I guess I do it the hard way, but I'm a still a 2-mo n00b. I do L3 missions in my Ferox. After everything is dead, I come back in a Probe with a simple AB to collect the loot. (I don't have tractor beam skills) Since my missions are rarely more than 1 jump away, it's not that big of a deal to me.
I do find it very worthwhile though. 95% of if is crap, but that other 5% is helping me build up my isk.

I know its a bit skill intensive but the prorator (sigil transport) with mwd and tractor beam takes some beating. top speed of over 1700m/s. Only problem is you need to swap the mwd for an ab in deadspace, but you can bm the cans and come back after the mission is complete to avoid this.

I use a Sigil set up as mentioned, thinkin about it I can't think of many cases where I would have more cargo from that than a Exequror could hold... especially expanded.
but not sure if its worth the bother, even with a sensor booster I still have some gap between useful times with the beam on, simply from the time it takes to loot and retarget, and travel between clusters of cans.

Sigil with all nano's for sure. It can hit 1km/s almost with a t2 AB, and can carry 3-4km3 (Depending on your Amarr Level)

95% of lv3 missions i can grab in my brutix's hold while running the mission. I currently use my 7th high for a small armor projector to keep my drones in tip top shape, i could switch it for a tractor beam if i had the skills i guess.

I collect ALL loot from ALL missions.....goes towards building more ammo :)
I use a Catalyst fitted with 5 tractor beams, MWD if I've completed the mission, or t2 AB for the Extravaganzas, I clear them one level at a time. 3 good named cargo expanders gives around 750 m3 cargo which is fine for most missions.

Have to agree with some of the previous replys.
I use an Exeq with expanders mwd/ab and tractors. Makes short work of lvl4 loot collecting.

In deadspace missions, simply bookmark a loot can in each stage, then you can complete the mission while switching ships.
Return to the bookmarks without the deadspace, and use your MWD all you like.
However, a MWD tends to actually slow down collection in loot fields, as you overshoot, and have to slow approach more often than not.

I used to fly this exact setup to collect my cans in L4 missions after the final talk with the agent (bookmarking 1 can in each stage as mentioned above). :)
Nowadays, I mostly fly L3 Missions. I have a Ferox with 5 Heavy Missile Launcher and 2 Small Tractor Beams so I can loot while killing. ----------

Heh well... prior to the blood patch I used an osprey fitted with a cap power relay, two expanded cargo holds (roughly 700+ m3), some random mwd i got as loot and 3 cap batteries, was great until i'd click the mwd too much and it get stuck on, lag glitches :p gotta love them.

Yes, I do this if I complete the deadspace missions.....but I'm poor, so I like to "almost" complete, say, an Angels Extrav and then leave it to respawn after DT. So I loot each level as I do it.

I use my Prorator (Elite Sigil) as my looter.
4x Nano I 1x 10MN MWD II 1x Named Cap charger I 1x Small Tractor Beam I
I've found the quickest way to collect the loot is to just speed towards each can one at a time with the MWD on whilst also targeting that can with the tractor beam. Zero bounce off, and you make the trip shorter as the Tractor Beam also shortens the distance to it.

Nice answers, but how about someone actually answer the first question? Is lvl 4 loot worth taking? Is it a difference between 0.0 space and 0.5 space in terms of lvl4 mission loot? Any chance that atually dread npc drop some dread items?

Yes, Lvl 4 loot is definitely worth picking up. I use an exequror with 4 tractor beams in high, AB and MWD and some other junk in mids and cargo expanders in lows. Looted an entire "infiltrated outposts" in one go and in less than 6 minutes.

Maller 6x Small Tractor Beam
The secret of the cruiser loot collector is the tag-along can. In this case, 5 can grabbing tractors while the 6th is used to haul one can along to put the loot into. Once the lot is brought in you can pick and choose the prize loot and just leave the can, or come back with a hauler and just grab that one can easy enough.
Tractors FTW.
Though I do prefer the nano-sigil or hoarder, despite only having 2 tractors. Better yet is the Nano/MWD prorator for those huge scattered drops.

is it best to use a slot on your fighting ship for a tractor beam and then come back w/ a particiluar ship?? or equip tractor beams on a specific ship and come w/ that after you have killed everything ?
i was thinking of maybe leaving things lay and come w/ something that had lots of space and many beams.
is there a flaw in this thinking ?
thanks

Loot is VERY definitely worth collecting from lvl 3 missions - I often get as much isk from the loot (selling or reprocessing) as I do from the payouts.
I use an Inquisitor for loot collection.
Lovely little ship - I put 3 tractor beams in it, 1 mwd, 1 cap recharger, 3 cargo expanders. Works like a charm
