They're not your rocks and we don't need miners being able to hoover up even more ore/cycle than they currently do. Ten drones will not happen anyway, the most you'll get is five double-yield drones. |

I had a similar idea for a T1 BS sized mining ship but couldn't nail down what I wanted it to do - this addresses that problem Nullsec and WH miners definitely need some more firepower. The Procurer/skiff can currently tank well enough, but don't have the locking range or firepower to deal with some of the larger rats. So a more combat oriented subsystem which addresses these issues would be a fine addition.
WH mining merely requires a combat ship or two to go in and clear the rats that spawn initially. After that you can mine without any NPC interference. |

ohh you know what I meant...
usually you'll jump into a belt and there are number of miners there then there is like Gentleman's code that each one stick to his corner of the belt, so you start with the more profitable ores there first to make sure you earn as much isk as possible then you are less choosy about which rocks.
So, 10 \ 5 double drones can be split among those ores 1 per rock (if they had decent mining yield) in order to grab e'm faster. as a miner I know I'm personally will not mine a rock which is currently targeted by another miner's ship. +1, I fly a mackinaw/orca when I want to mine (what I am doing to diversify my activities) and sometimes venture. A different kind of ship to get beyond that is awesome.

if you got access to barrages when do you use the Venture. "What's worse than a foul-mouthed eight-year-old constantly claiming he's had relations with your mother? It is only about mining more ORE in the same amount of time. I do not like this idea. It wil make the Barges obsolete, make the price fall and let the small miner newbies far away to gain ISK. Only utility ships, able to compress, to refine in belts and able to defend themselves against attackers could be interestening.
A small solo Rorqual... yes...
And my opinion is that the mining system should be revamp to be more interestening and more difficult to bot too. But not with a nonsense minigame ... |

i dont think you get it newbies have it easy enough in my newbie days the hulk costs about 330 mio and the trit price was around 2 Isk per unit
whats now cheap exumers and the price for empire ores is higher than in my days afk gameplay via retriever or mack even if the prices fall about 10-20% they have it good enough and better than in my days |

nop.. it's about customizing a ship to my need, let's say I prefer longer range to my strip at the cost of cycle time or maybe I prefer to have minimum short strip miner range for fast cycle times etc...

I fly a venture from time to time because it's cheap. I like to try mining a little bit sometimes, and when I mine, I don't bother going to a mining post I have already setup when I just met someone to mine with and he's in a new area. I don't bring my barges over to him either. I buy a new ship and make a new mining post. I have about fifteen mining posts and still don't have half of the good spots covered.
So I'll buy a venture if I don't plan to mine in one spot for long, or just to see if the system is any good. Fit a warfare link to your tech 1 battlecruiser. Train Wing Commander. Get in the Squad Commander or Wing Commander position. Your fleets will be superior to everyone else's. (had this sig BEFORE Odyssey BC rebalance) And bring back the missile Inquisitor!! |

In this case the better thing to do would be to create new strip miner modules with different stats, and new crystals. |

ya I agree venture is fun ship. pathetic ore capacity and mining yield compared to barrages but it's situational . it's fun ship to fly, easy to fit and what's not to like in 1000 m\s mining ship :) "What's worse than a foul-mouthed eight-year-old constantly claiming he's had relations with your mother? I'll give this a bump on the sole purpose that miners do need another progression ship besides the orca/rorqual.

Nalelmir Ahashion wrote:btw another interesting thing I thought about will be "disruptor" module which allows you to lock on a rock and as long as you locked on it no other mining ship can be locked on that rock. Interesting idea. I think proposing things that do not directly increase mining output but give other advantages, especially to active players, are good both to gain support for your proposal and to give a larger mining advantage to the active miners.
Perhaps instead of preventing others from locking your rock, you could have a module that breaks other miners' locks from the rock you are mining if you start one they have already started. It could be a weak effect that is successful once in a while and warrants no CONCORD aggression because of its limited effects. Might be really effective against bot/macro and AFK miners, while active miners would see it as a slight nuisance (which might instill PVP!) Fit a warfare link to your tech 1 battlecruiser. if I had it my way.. a BS sized hull. 2 strip/gas lasers. the yield of a maxed out skiff or Mac, 4 weapon slots. a decent Mac sized ore hold. too much yield and there's no sense using an exhumer.. too much dps and everyone else will whine.
love the t3 idea to mix/match what you need it for instead of moving 3 exhumer around low/null.
I'm not terribly fond of mining but wouldn't turn down the fleet invite to roam around in a pack of these..
might sound silly but... |

I see the point of having something to train for after the Hulk. But after you have trained for that new imaginary ship, you will be back in the situation of having nothing to train for again. I am not convinced that adding new ships just to have something to train for is the right way to go. You reached the top and low SP no longer hold you back.
Having a T3 mining ship that can swap roles could be convenient. But does it really add anything? If you want flexibility it might be better to train for a freighter/orca and be able to haul a few different exhumers around, and as a bonus, get a good way of moving large amounts of ore/minerals to where you want it.
The current barges and exhumers may lack guns and missiles, but they have drones. While the damage isn't great a group of miners can produce quite a large droneball that can drive off or kill opportunists (in areas without concord). They wouldn't be able to kill a large combat ship or a group of attackers, but a combat ship must be allowed to be good at combat, not easily trumped by industrial ships. I can see the lure of a half-half miner-fighter ship, it would be slightly harder to attack a pack of them but they are hardly safe, attackers can always bring bigger ships. A fleet with "target" written all over it has to accept that they will be hunted. The best defense for miners in dangerous places are scouts and running away before anything happens, that is probably not going to change by adding a few guns.
I guess I just have another point of view about this. But I still think it would be nice with some kind of changes to the industrial side of the game. |

Skillpoint wise, there isn't anything. Combat pilots also face a similar dilemma when they have maxed out the skills required for what they want to fly.
The solution is to branch out I guess. To be able to do more of the things that EVE offers.
edit: Oh, and also. You have 2 free character slots in case you want a gank alt. Ore in space might belong to everyone who can get to it. But that doesn't mean you have to just sit there and allow competitors in your belt :P |

I understand a common complaint about Afk miners and dislike the idea myself. The problem lies mostly with how Ming works as a whole. Once you activate the module it requires little to no input from the player. Especially true with ice mining. Whether I stare at my screen or go make a sandwich, nothing changes. The only thing left for me to do is scan roids and plot out my next target. But that only goes so far too with the range of scanners sometimes less than that of a strip miner (thank you boosts). Once they change mining to reward active input from the player you won't see as many "afk" miners (granted botting will never disappear). But I do like the idea of a flexible ship that can perform multiple roles at once like T3s. So the ships and Afk mining are really two seperate problems that affect one another but need to be handled individually. |

T3 ORE Cruiser? sounds nice and im sure lots of possibilities for it...
But.... just a ORE command mining droneboat with bonus to mining warfare modules will do fine lol.... And yeah it should be able to launch 10 mining drones.... No strip miners, maybe some small mining lasers.... decent ore-hold... capable of using 3 warfare modules
Orca is the only ship with bonuses to mining warfare modules....its just silly
MAKE IT HAPPEN....!!!
