Good morning/evening, Today, after the update, I encounter a problem. My launcher can't download the patch to this adress: http://cdn1.eveonline.com/662240/EVE_Online_661006-662240_win.zip I tryied manually but my browser show me this message "The information you requested could not be retrieved.". Any idea of how I can get this patch ? Or Where else ? |

My client has tried to get the patch as well today and failed. It either gets stuck on the first step 1/4 valadiating client, or the 4th step.
I have run the repair tool and it has also failed to fix the problem.
When i close the client after it stalls while trying to patch an error message comes up and the log file says
Error in atexit._run_exitfuncs: Traceback (most recent call last): File "atexit.pyo", line 24, in _run_exitfuncs File "checksum.pyo", line 182, in _teardown File "checksum.pyo", line 337, in close File "shelve.pyo", line 143, in close File "shelve.pyo", line 169, in sync File "bsddb\__init__.pyo", line 347, in sync File "bsddb\dbutils.pyo", line 68, in DeadlockWrap DBRunRecoveryError: (-30974, 'DB_RUNRECOVERY: Fatal error, run database recovery -- PANIC: fatal region error detected; run recovery')

Your internet connection probably goes through a proxy server causing the patch to fail. Talk to your ISP administrator. I know some smaller ISP's use transparent proxies to save bandwidth. |

I went to the page but the download links seem to be dead.
Perhaps a download and manual install of the patch would work for me because launcher fails, repair tool fails, and I've been waiting hours for a response to my petition. Where can I find the patch file?
Ever since the launcher came out, I've wasted hours on its repeated fails. CCP, please FIX it! |

You went on which page ? The hotfile.com link work really well. you just have to download it, unzip it and put it in .../CCP/EVE/ folder |

If you see this DBRunRecoveryError please close the launcher, go into the launcher cache folder and delete the "checksums" and "client_validation" files there. This should cause the launcher to re-validate the client installation from disk, which may take a while, but eventually resolve this issue. This is getting old quick. Ever since Rubicon came out, every time you patch I get more proficient in circumventing your patching system because it doesn't work. Most of the time I have to wait for someone to post the patch in this thread on a personal file share service to get it. I can trace route to that address at 205.185.216.10, with only one hang up most times in Dallas at address 4.68.127.150. JDownloader even says that your server is offline most of the day when I HTTP Link grab it. I'm not sure if this is a stateside issue or not but since Rubicon, I've been down for a total of 3 days trying to patch so I can play. Time is money folks and this is getting frustrating. Oh, and thanks for not answering any of the trouble tickets in this matter.

Found part of the issue with patches not working. The new laucher update was not working with my Zonealarm Firewall even though it was added to the exceptions list. Uninstalling Zonealarm and reinstalling to have it autolearn Eve again to see if it fixes it. Putting the Firewall into 'game mode' did not help, it only patched when I turned zonealarm off all together. Check your firewalls. They may be picky. More to follow. |

The traces look all good. Reason I asked for it is that we switched our Content Delivery Network around the same time, so there are a couple of potential points of failure.
Furthermore there are a ton of "utilities" that are pretty picky with large files and have broken support for some HTTP/1.1 features our download mechanism utilizes. That being said, the current launcher on Singularity improves our handling of connection errors quite a bit as well. I am one of the lucky ones in that the launcher normally patches fine for me.

The Launcher that worked last time is not working this time.... What a surprise! (Sarcasm) Over the last year I have had a 3% success rate at patching using the launcher from CCP. My only method was uninstall and download from the offline installer and re-install. I live in a rural area and at 1.5mbs it takes about 13 hours to do this.

Cannot get the patch. Download stops at 25% with error message
Steam account.
Tried the following - did not work out:
Importing manually downloaded patch Deleting and re-installing launcher Deleting and re-installing the game Running repair tool - finishes with an error
Ticket is hanging for couple days already with no responces from the devs. Mb someone had similar issue and can help out?

I get this when I try to Repair. I'm having all sorts of issues. I tried to forklift the launcher from a working machine to this one. The Launcher folder doesn't want to install. Win8 64b. I'm downloading the full offline installer packages right now and am going to try and install to a different directory. Why can't Eve just link us to where the patch files are?! I got to the CDN Patches\Patches URL and do not see a way to download just the patch so I can manually run it and keep using th EXEFILE to run Eve..... |

Thanks Almethea, but I can't get it going. I pu tthe patch intot he main Eve folder and ran the exefile.exe, but it restarted the client to apply the patch and failed. I tried the repair for the 37th time, it 'completed' but shows an error popup after saying there were problems. The eve.exe does nothing. The launcher won't even load now, and it was working this morning (although it was getting errors too, so I still can't run Eve).
This is getting ridiculous. Hasn't this game been around 10 years? That presumes the people running it know how to write code. But something as simple as a patch/launcher is too much?! Will I need to download the full offline installer for the third time and completely re-install? My support ticket is probably sitting in a Q hundreds long...... |

I'm having the same issues, if not worse. I have 3 accounts, one of which is through Steam. I have tried uninstalling and re-downloading the client, but it won't even install. It looks like its working, then it "completes" fast and says "failed". So after realizing i just deleted EVE off my computer and now can not get it back, I searched through Steam and found the launcher that i downloaded from it. Still, not working. P.S. Alert on failed client update says something along the lines of, "unable to connect to server. Unable to update patch from: http://cdn1.eveonline.com/681196/RepairData_681196.dat"

Tuk, all I could suggest is to use the offline installer for Eve, and install it to a custom location, NOT the default one. Also, do not let it 'clean' the installation files afterward, in case you need them again.
The solution to my problem was to copy the entire Eve folder off a working computer and copy it to a new location on the new computer. Such a pain. CCP has really let us down here. |

I agree. A 10 year old running game, and the developers still can't get it right or fix it? Honestly, I just started using the Exefile.exe, it works. And it's simple. No launcher, no stupid ads or promotional propaganda. Just sign in and go. I got tired of trying to fix the launcher and having it reload the same damn patch every time I open it, and then fail most times. So ya, I just opens that .exe file and go. Until CCP messes THAT up too, that's what I'll be doing from now on.

The launcher updated to Rubicon 1.1 yesterday with no problem, which really surprised me! But today with the 1.1.1 (709728) patch not so much. Back to exception errors; it seems to me that with as many problems as we're having with the launcher updating/applying patches that CCP would assign a team to get to the bottom of it and correct it! Or at the very least give us another avenue to download and apply the patch rather than downloading the complete program from the offline installer each time a small patch is released! I check this forum every time a patch is released because Almathea provides the alternate path which works every time. She needs to be on the payroll! |

Hi Almethea, thanks so much for posting these, my launcher keeps giving me errors and a previous link you posted here allowed me to play. Unfortunately it was 30 min before downtime and after downtime it said I had a 6 mb download and tries to download it through the launcher which still doesn't work. Is this that patch that must have been today? or the retribution patch? |

I've run the repair tool and it seems to run fine.
I was online prior to DT, went to bed feeling ill and my launcher was running when i got back up and without thinking i just logged in. Obviously the launcher threw an error and tried updating then wouldnt launch.
I ran the repair tool which worked (ran it twice all good both times)
And now launching eve I get the above error.
Win 8.1 64bit
HD7970 with 14.1 drivers.

i've look for about 8h to solve the probelm and it's not the computer not really the launcher. the probelm concern the routing and the launcher
i patched my client @ work with a my smartphone ... so now i'm sure, the problem is not the computer i use @ work.

it goes to about 15% on the bar below then turns red and shows me a small window with a load of tekst wich makes no sense to me. last time this happend was last patch and i had to reinstall game ( yesterday or the day before) it happens since i switched from win7 32bit to win7 64bit. Since then on every update i get this launcher problem.

i use 2 win7 64b* (one fail the other no) so dont blame the OS and both use the same antivirus, i'm full admin on both. the only difference i've dynamic IP@home and static IP@work (+heavy firewall)

I don't know if you figured it out by now or not, but you click on the cog on the top right of the patcher, select "Patches" and import it. Fixed it for me.

It has been increasingly difficult to get patches for TQ and Singularity, and since Singularity patches often I miss out on being able to participate in mass tests or test new builds.
The problem seems to be with the CDN (Highwinds) This is what patching Singularity client looks like after over an hour on a gigabit internet connection: http://i.imgur.com/sisNJeF.png The network monitor is showing that the launcher.exe has attempted to download the same file 30+ times, 5 of which it did not get a reply from the server at all. It will either never get a response from the webserver and time out and retry, or will download for a bit (at a random speed) and then eventually stop, timeout, and retry where it left off again.
I'm having no issues with any other internet services, and did a speed test for good measure: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/3357867935 Pingtest: http://www.pingtest.net/result/94396169.png Other game CDN speeds for comparison: Steam Download: 37MB/s Origin Download: 25MB/s
Attempting to download the same file in a browser manually duplicates the behavior of the launcher: Attempt 1: 39.7KB/s, stopped after 119KB Attempt 2: 18.8KB/s, stopped after 75.2KB Attempt 3: 0KB/s, timed out Attempt 4: 8.9KB/s, stopped after 35.4KB Attempt 5: 16.3KB/s, stopped after 49KB Attempt 6: 6.2MB/s, stopped after 30.9MB Attempt 7: 37.6KB/s, stopped after 75.2KB The best I've been able to get it to download was 10MB/s up to ~150MB before stopping What I find most peculiar is the speeds are steady before timing out. I.e. it will start at a certain speed (20KB/s, 70KB/s, 8MB/s, etc) and stay there until timing out.
It looks like Eve is not the only one with this issue, other games using HWCDN's service are having this same exact issue and has been happening since December 2013. A google search shows quite a few complaints about slow download speeds of popular games using this service: https://www.google.com/search?q=HWCDN+slow
CCP, this CDN has been having major problems for 3 months now. Are you considering changing CDN providers, providing a backup CDN, or some alternative means of downloading these patches for TQ and Singularity? |

I also had this problem. The patch was not downloading and the first aid tool was flipping me the bird and saying I am suffering from a fatal error.
Weird thing is that before Rubicon I had to reinstall the client and that one never patched properly. The client would just give error after error after a patch and the repair tool kept fixing it and basically allowed me to keep playing the game.
Anyhow, I want to play eve again, so I gave up and deinstalled everything eve related. The new client is downloading at a normal rate and will be done in an omfg lot of hours. But hopefully this one will work properly.
Just so you know reinstalling should not be an option. So for those that are still trying, big respect and please continue to find a solution to the problem. |

YAY, another patch and once again the launcher patches to 100% and freezes, I'd accept that in a free to play game, one where you have to pay not so much.

Still have never had to deal with a broken patcher but the downloads are painfully slow and have been for about 3 months now.
I downloaded todays patch at 300 KB/s. In the past it was always a consistent 5-6MB/s People, who talk, don't know. People, who know, don't talk.

Try to run the repair.exe as Administrator on your PC. Repair fixed the freeze issue for me. The repair also patched you up to the latest patch. |

Having issues to get the steam client patched. My patcher always get stuck, same with the repair too.
I downloaded and installed the non-steam normal client, just to see what happens. This one installs, patches and starts fine. But the steam one won't - even tried complete deinstall and new download. Same error again. |

So i searched for a direct link of the patch and get it under this link http://cdn1.eveonline.com/739267/EVE_Online_734685-739267_win.zip The download was with full speed on my side (~6MB/s)
Then extracted it into the EVE Folder and ran the launcher again. With this the launcher patched the client perfectly and i can play again.

Direct link is still giving me painfully slow download speeds, as in bytes per second, not even KB/s.
Support ticket is submitted, should I just wait 2 weeks for this patch to download? lol. |

Several other threads relating to the mapObjects.db CRC errors have been directed here. As such, I'm replying to them here, but don't believe they are related to the other patch issues folks are describing.
If you are encountering the 'Verification failed: 'C:/Program Files(x86)/CCP/EVE/bin/staticdata/mapObjects.db' crc:a8331cbb, expected:d9c0042c" error, check for the existence of '%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\CCP'. If it exists, delete it, and you should be able to launch normally.
The VirtualStore is a compatibility component of Windows Vista and higher. Essential, any time a non-elevated process tries to write to a file in certain folder structures, it is silently redirected to a similar structure in the VirtualStore. This allows older applications that don't understand UAC and which do not properly write to (which is to say, don't write to) protected areas to continue to function. It appears that at some point around patch time, the EVE ExeFile.exe process modified the bin/staticdata/mapObjects.db file. Windows created a copy of it in the VirtualStore, and hence forth all accesses by ExeFile.exe running under that same user security context are redirected to the file in the VirtualStore. Since the patches are run by a separate process, it doesn't get redirected to the VirtualStore, and sees the updated, valid file. This is why the repair tool doesn't find the old file.
Once you delete the file from the VirtualStore, the redirection is broken and ExeFile.exe will be able to open the new, patched file.
If you which to confirm this before deleting the files, fire up your favorite file access monitor (SysInternals ProcMon or similar) and start EVE. Search for any access attempt on mapObjects.db, and you should see that the access to bin/staticdata/mapObjects.db results in a reparse operation to the VirtualStore folder. |

My first time posting in this forum ever. I just wanted to thank Almethea for taking the time to post the downloadable patch. Been having troubles with the launcher and repair tool recently, and you are a true hero hehe. Took me hours before I stumbled upon this thread. I have nothing against CCP, but they really should be providing this service to those with problems. I tried everything from uninstalling and reinstalling and this is the only workaround that worked for me. So Almethea thank you and I will be sending you a very small token of my appreciation ingame. Sorry it's not much, but I'm not exactly rich lol. Thanks again and CCP should be taking note on how to provide customer service. |

You need to download the 751672-753967 patch provided by Amethea and then start the launcher. Once it is up go to the settings (gear icon upper right) and then the patches tab, uncheck delete patches after use and hit save, now select import. Navigate to where the 751672-753967 patch is and select it, the launcher will import very quickly and then hang for 15 seconds or so... Close the launcher and restart. When the launcher is restarted you can see the patching process update it to the point where you can use the latest patch provided again by Almethea. Close the launcher when it's finished and copy the 753967-756217 patch to your Eve folder or start the launcher and import it.

Worked fine on my laptop this morning but my PC at home is failing the patch.
Repair is downloading a 700k file at a little over 700 BYTES per second. So basically stalled. Other internet stuff is working fine. Also hearing this from other players based in TX this evening. |

It appears a small patch came out Monday but my launcher would never download it. I tried to log in using the executable and it said it downloaded the patch but it was corrupt. I tried to run the repair utility and it quit at around phase 3 or 4. I tried to launch the executable and it went and I was able to play for the few minutes I had left for the evening. Tuesday I sat down to play and again was met with the exact same problems. The launcher never started the download, the executable said the patch downloaded but was corrupt, and repair quit in phase 6. I decided I would uninstall and start fresh as I have had hiccups in the past few patches. That is proving to be quite a disaster as well. At this rate I might be able to play this weekend. The transfer rate varies from 20 KB/s to 120 KB/s. I thought about downloading the offline installer but it was running even slower.
I'm curious but why the heck doesn't CCP use torrent technology to distribute patches/clients? |

I don't think its your connection mate .. I'm on infinity which works fine, yet all of us here and more probably, get this problem on this same patch. My ticket is posted and I patiently wait a response, while my sub wittles away again. |

After getting the exception again and again I tried to click the start eve button on the exception window and recieved a message saying my client was corrupt, with a list of files which failed verification and advising me to reinstall the client. code.ccp bin\blue.dll bin\db.dll bin\destiny.dll bin\evelocalization.dll bin\exefile.exe bin\extensions.dll bin\nvapi.pyd bin\_audio2.dll bin\_gameworld.dll bin\_planetresources.dll bin\_trinity_dx11_deploy.dll bin\_trinity_dx9_deploy.dll bin\_twitch.dll bin\vivox.dll
If I delete these files as advised on my first petition the verification fails saying 'none' where the file is missing instead of redownloading it .. the repair does not redownload them either.
I know for a fact if I use almethea's patch these files will miraculously not be corrupt any more, indicating it is the verification system which is failing. Reinstalling the whole client 5gb download is just another way to avoid verification it's not really replacing corrupt files just making the client upto date making no verification necessary.
I'm not using the patch atm because I want to resolve this and ccp will ignore it if I fix it using this patch link. So my isk is wasting while I wait for a response to my ever growing petition information.

I have just reset the protocol filtering under advanced settings in eset on eve files including repair.exe and even though I'm quite certain I had done this previously aswell as turning eset off completely, repair worked after that and a restart and updated my client ! o0

I started having patch issues with Rubicon. No other changes, everything else is fine. Did the standard tech support blame the ports/ firewall/ router/ underpants gnomes game with no resolution. It's disappointing to see this thread continue without updates or interactions from a support staff member while other more minor issues seem to get immediate attention.
Giant thanks to Almethea for all the patches, at this stage I wouldn't still be playing without someone hosting updates. |

Why?
Every week I have to go through this, I simply cannot play on patch days. Even after things FINALLY start to download it takes an hour to download a 7 mb file?
This patcher is broken. So frustrating when you are paying a monthly fee and have limited time in the evenings to play anyway. |

After the patch failed for me, that was it, i couldn't do anything, ran the repair tool which completed successfully, but then none of the launcher shortcuts worked, or the .exe, tried to run all as administrator but still nothing.
Had to uninstall the game and re-install - Not happy!  |

I'm in a hotel and using the secure wifi.
I attempted to connect with my Macbook and got the error. Jumped over to my Windows 7 laptop and got the error.
Read through the reams of solutions and none looked relevant or panned out as functional... until.
I switched over to my mobile hot spot and tried and poof. The patcher patched.
I've not had an update problem in YEARS and this threw me for a loop.
Apparently the network monitoring software on the CCP end is being a ***** today.
Thanks for the helpful tips everyone and I hope you can get back on quickly.

Place inside your Eve Online folder. Restart launcher. It should pick up the patch and patch the game. If it doesn't try starting the launcher with administrator permissions. |

1/4 Validating Client, takes about 1 minute+, 2/4 Creating patch, Eve_online_740727_789891_Win.Patch 0.0% (I notice this name does not match the downloaded patch name)

I had this problem once and I had a Steam version of the client I think. Not sure. Don't quote me on this. To avoid it and to get a better control over login name and password, I created another non-Steam account and transferred my character to it.
What prevents your patching? 1. Firewall? Get the windows firewall back to default settings. 2. Permissions on writing files? Try relocating to a different directory or set proper permissions for EVE folder and all children folders. 3. Antivirus software? If a patch needs to modify a big file and your antivirus decides to scan that big file, your launcher may freeze. Turn off antivirus for a bit? 4. Some Eve specific settings? You can try backing first (!) and then deleting the folder c:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\CCP\ Try deleting the launcher cache folder \Eve\launcher\cache\ There are also interesting files in that folder like launcher.2014-05-27.log. It is a text file that may tell you exactly what your launcher tries to do and fails.
Did you mention you have Steamed version of Eve? I am no software engineer but Steam needs to pass a unique ID to Eve Online login servers to allow you to play and that additional step is just another space for problems to occur.
Since you cannot copy the text of the error, try at least to take a screenshot. For Windows 8.1 you can press Win+PrintScreen and the screenshot will be saved in your pictures folder. |

I think the Steam Install gives you a slightly older launcher, which you have to update before playing, i know the first time I played on Sunday it patched for a while immediately, so when I re-installed I assume its still that old launcher. So when I tried this morning it was the last patch, but after re-installing it's probably back to a month old version.
When I go here: https://community.eveonline.com/support/download/?_ga=1.268304519.800083305.1400878241 to try to download the client directly outside of steam it just stops downloading at 0.1MB and won't go further.
I've turned the firewall off totally, no anti-virus running.
I've just uninstalled and reinstalled to a different folder on a different drive and have the same issue.
I've now cleared out the AppData cache and the launcher cache and tried again, still hit exact same problem in the exact same place.
I've downloaded the patch from the link you posted again, and placed it in the directory.
Now sometimes it stops at 0.0% and sometimes goes to exactly 15% and then stops. If this is now because It's updating from an older launcher or version, is there anyway to just completely install the current version from scratch?
There is a log file it generates, its thousands of lines long, is there anything in particular I should be looking for in that? One thing that stands out just because it has the word 'error' is KeyError: 'resDX9Scene.stuff' 2014-05-28 15:17:35,048 - root - update - INFO - create patch failed, quitting update
Googling 'Resdx9scene' seems to bring up a lot of Steam users posting about the exact same problem since about June 2013, but no thread about it seems to contain a solution. |

The patch I have uploaded is very recent. Very fresh. It updates a not-so-recent version of the game to the latest one. Your launcher is trying to download a patch that will bridge the gap between a month-old version of the game and the latest one. So that won't work.

By I wake up this morning, try the patcher again and now everything just works perfectly 400mb downloaded in a patch in about 5 seconds :/

I downloaded the patch as offered in these forums. After deleting the cache (BrowserCache, client_validation, checksums) and dropping it in the eve folder I was able to start the game. The .patch file in the eve folder before was only 3mb. The entire problem it seems is that the launcher doesn't download the entire patch or it becomes corrupt when the launcher downloads it, and there is no indication that anything went wrong downloading or verifying it. In my case, it goes to goes to 100% :
(3/4): APPLYING EVE_ONLINE_786923-789891_WIN.PATCH: 100.0%
Of course I have no problems downloading anything else and all other networking and firewall stuff is off, so this has to be a connection issue between the launcher and eve's servers. |

I visit these forums approximately twice per year. Each time when there is a new "expansion" released. Each time because the auto updater/launcher is broken beyond belief and I have to manually patch or repair the game to get it working after the launcher ****** it up. Here's the harsh reality:
- The launcher breaks at each and every expansion release. Or rather, it was always broken but never fixed. - Not a single one of your customers wants the launcher. It adds nothing to the game and it is buggy as hell. - You shouldn't need to be a god damn COMPUTER ENGINEER to install a patch. There's a standing joke about every player in the game being a programmer, but maybe that's not because of the nature of the game, but rather because they are the only kind of people who can actually get the crap working. - Every single "expansion" ever released by CCP has been extremely buggy, to the point where 10 minutes of casual beta testing would have revealed numerous amounts of bugs. - As I wrote this forum post, the forums crashed & burned so I had to rewrite it all again.
Sheer incompetence if I ever saw it. |

Ok.. so I'm on a sat up-link and I'm about 40 bucks into this patch so far and it had one brief interruption of some kind with the net. not sure if it was local or remote but it did not receive data for like 10 seconds after the download was complete. Now it give me the connection failure message..
I did not click ok till after i confirmed the connection was good. It closed the launcher. I reopened the launcher and it acted as if it was resuming at the point it left off then totally restarted the download again. I stopped this process and ran the repair tool. It then proceeded to use up another 100 or so megs and then start the patch download all over again. i have the patch file on my computer though it may have missing info.. not sure.
Question is .. is there any way for me to force the client to use the data i have then fix that as needed. It will cost me another 40 bucks and 4 or more hours to re-download this again.. and even then I'm not assured it will not bug and fail and force me to get it a third or forth time. I pay for bandwidth.. I cannot afford to pay for hundreds of dollars in failed patch attempts.
This is not the first time or patch i have been faced with this issue. I think its ******** that almost every application today can remember where it left off but Eve's goofy client that up until 1 or 2 patches ago never worked for me and i had to bypass it cant remember anything. Not even my login.
I have a ticket in but I'm sure that will be addressed next week some time. Any help you all could give me would be much appreciated. |

That's because most people have given up on the launcher long time ago and launch the game from the .exe in the bin folder. I only use it as a last resort for updating the game.

If it was working, I wouldn't be on these forums searching for a manual solution, but playing the game I am paying for. CCP's main focus seems to be meddling with things that were working just fine and fixing problems where there are no problem to fix. While ignoring as many of the existing bugs as possible.
Just look at the player/corp/alliance standings that CCP broke in the last "expansion" and still haven't fixed. Each time you log in at a nullsec station, it looks to be hellcamped by numerous neuts... because the standings are broken and blues appear as neuts. This can't be a hard bug to find or fix, but CCP obviously don't give a damn.

Well, let's give this launcher thing a try and see if it's fixed yet - download the 1.23 GB patch fairly quick, I walked down to the corner store for some beer and got back around 93% - finish downloading patch, now applying patch - get to 13%, sit for awhile, get error message that client update unsuccessful, checksum error, launch EVE? - launch eve, busted, says run repair tool - run repair tool, repair tool errors out (Error code 2, very helpful) - re-run launcher, verifying client, hangs at 13% - start over
2. Ok, let's just run exefile as administrator - immediate checksum error - run repair tool - repair tool downloads 9 files - run exefile - immediate checksum error - repair tool errors out with error type 2 - start over
3. Well, lets just start with repair tool - Run repair tool, repair tool downloads 1.18GB of patch again (thank god I have ****** but uncapped internet) - 4m 09s later, "restore" a shitload of files - patch successful
4. Just for kicks, run the launcher - Launcher thinks the game needs patching, begins building patch
Looks like I'm back to running exefile.exe directly since your launcher is still ridiculously broken. Why not just make the repair tool your patcher? Running that first has so far worked for me, while running this patcher first has worked 0% of the time. Windows 8.1, user is admin, drivers fully up-to-date and WHQL certed. |

Since i am without decent Internet connection at home currently, ( patch Download would cost me like 40 hours , I tried to download the standalone clients at someone elses place. What i got was Around 50-60kb per second, which would mean around 2 days of Download. The connection used is +á 50+ Mbit connection, Which works fine when downloading other stuff. My question : whats the problem, guys ? The download speed for Such large files is a joke. Not using proxy and such things by the way. I would really enjoy to hear devs opinion in this thread regarding this issue.

Thanks for this. I have not been able to apply patches through the launcher for close to a year. This has persisted through both an eve reinstall and OS reinstall. It appears the launcher will download patches partially and then attempt to apply them. Normally I have been forced to use the repair tool every time a patch was released, but this time the repair tool wouldn't fully download it either.
In the future I am just going to look for your posts every time there is a patch. Thanks. |

I usually avoid using the "eve.exe" launcher because it uses 100% CPU even when minimized -- I use bin\exefile.exe instead.
This time, the launcher applied the patch in four steps, and didn't complain. Closed it, found it in Task Manager, killed the process. Then ran bin\exefile.exe and things seem fine now.

It seems Kronos broke the game so bad you have to install the game from scratch anyhow. Neither launcher, repair tool or manual download helps. This seems to be caused by EVE bugs, as the same problem remains after a complete EVE wipe and re-install.
In the end, there's a limit of how much time I will spend on this bullshit patching. I love EVE, but if I need to spend 5 hours per day fixing EVE's problems, I will quit paying for this game very soon.
Since CCP management is actively trying to make the company go bankrupt, it is only a matter of time before EVE is gone anyhow. |

Here's what I've tried so far:
Tried to turn off Windows Firewall. No change. Resetted the Firewall to the default settings. No change. Tried the download link on Firefox, Safari and Google Chrome. No change. Turned off Avast! active protection. No change. All my browsers are relatively addon-free but the few I have were deactivated. No change. Tried downloading the client from a non-gaming laptop. No change. Tried downloading the client from an office computer. No change. Tried downloading from a different internet connection. No change. Resetted the modem and router to default settings. No change.
I think I'm running out of possible troubleshooting tasks here on my end. |

Thank you! Got BitLord all warmed up and downloading the client as we speak. Once it is done and installed, I'll leave a heads up to see how it works out.
I also tried grabbing the Installer via Google Drive (quite a clever script I have to say). Sadly, this problem seems to go deeper. The installer refuses to budge and keeps giving the message saying "Payload 1 not found". There has to be some problem between my ISP and the CCP server that keeps the Client Data or something.
Quite wierd that it decided to happen just after yesterday's downtime. |

I have the exact same issue as Wendrika, we are even in teh same ISp, followed almost the exact same steps and can't get the game to work. Not even with a fresh install.
It has been 24h already, nothing has been done to solve this and my sub runs off on the 8th. Assuming nothing will get done over the weekend, as usual, well...time for a break from EvE. We will see how long its going to be this time. |

Finaly after many attempts I managed to make the client work after a clean install. I had to bypass the launcher and execute it straight from the Program Files in the hard drive. After that it was smooth sailing and the game is stable (apart from all my settings being gone).
If you have the same problems as me, use Ved Riru's torrent file and install it. Untill the next patch hits, it should hold up long enough for a "fix" to this hot mess is found, if it is even possible to fix it. |

Instead of using my torrent file people are better off registering on Russia's biggest torrent tracker and keep uploading if they can after downloading because that particular torrent is not so popular and because I am not sure many people located all over the world can download at the same time using one passkey that is stored in that torrent.

Well, I already sent a ticket to Support to see if I can get to the bottom of this problem. It seems to me it only affects people under a specific ISP, but it is rather odd that the game connects just fine but only jitters when accessing the main Client and Launcher download servers. They probably broke something when they tried to shove in the New Eden Store security check to the Launcher and haven't fixed it yet. |

Tried the repair tool a few times now and its still broken. Having the same issue currently running repair again If you see this DBRunRecoveryError please close the launcher, go into the launcher cache folder and delete the "checksums" and "client_validation" files there. This should cause the launcher to re-validate the client installation from disk, which may take a while, but eventually resolve this issue.
A better idea might be to eliminate the launcher and go back to the way the game used to launch. From day one when I re-downloaded Eve, that thing has not worked properly.
So I launch the game directly and use the repair tool for the patches.

Same here. In 8 of 10 cases I am not able to patch via launcher or repairtool. Doesnt matter if I try to download a hotfix or a big releasepatch. The patcher always gets stucked while downloading ? How is this possible? This doesnt make sense. Either the launcher is able to connect to the server or not. But why does this little idiot always starts downloading and stops while downloadprocess? I mostly have to use vpn to download with totally awesome 100kb/s. This sucks. Really. |

The Launcher wont open up. It used to. Then it quit doing that.
I moved the file to the Eve folder, where all the other patches are. Has no affect.
I used to know where the Launcher log was. Where is it?

Tried clearing the cache and it doesn't work. Same with clearing the settings.
Every time I try launching the Launcher, I get a miniature dialog box that says downloading Launcher update, which then stops responding.
When I try to use the eve.exe file in the bin box, I get told incompatible version and then the attempted download fails, or is corrupted.
STOP SHOOTING MY ASTEROIDS!!!!!!!
I am going to kill 10 Gallente ships for every day I go without eve. I blame them. Who else could it be??

In my particular case, I can download patches uploaded by Almethea and Aenima and patch just fine, but having the launcher download the patch is problematic. It either hangs/freezes attempting to download, or will download a partial file. |

launcher log files show up in the launcher cache folder. "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\launcher\launcher.exe" /log:debug creates a debug.log file in the launcher folder. |

Well in my Launcher folder there is a debug text file, but no debug.log file. And the text file is blank.
In the Launcher>Cache folder, there is another text file that has a date for today (named: launcher.2014.08.02) - I believe because I just tried to launch the launcher again. There are actually 2, one for yesterday as well. Is that what I am supposed to be looking for? Cause there is a lot of code in those text files. |

I decided to download and re-install eve. After all I dont have the 1.2GB Crius patch yet anyway. We'll see if that works.
Meanwhile I will start researching Gallente ships for total destruction and recycle of those ships. |

I tried using eve repair tool, 3 times it fails and closes, I tried to install a clean new version from the web and it fails after starting the launcher. Now I'm trying to download and run from the offline launcher but 1st time it failed too.
When I try to re-install from the web i get failed installation.3
HELP! |

I pretty much have the same problem. Only solution I havent tried yet is to use an ehternet connection, or NOT using a slow wifi connection.
Any actually Launcher problems tend to go away after a week or so. |

So whats your internet connection like? Can you go to a public library or a McDonald's? I live out in the middle of nowhere in a remote camp in Alaska. Im kind of stuck no matter what. So ironically I play WoW instead :) Or DOS games.
But yeah, I have some long skills that are going to be done soon as well, and would really like to get back into it. |

ive just tried the full reinstall client installer and launcher are just horrific strangely the repair tool repaired borked attempt at install by redownloading the whole damn client but ive got mine to let me in again |

I had the same issue as you how i resolved it was by first downloading a new client offline. Once i got the two main files i just use 7zip to extract both, once that is done combine the two into one folder and run eve directly from the folder using the .exe in the bin folder. Don't try replacing the the old eve installation folder with this one, you will end up with the same errors or at least i did. I run eve from a completely different drive now so i don't now if that was the fix or what but it works fine currently. As far as all your metadata just login to one of your accounts and a new folder will populate once it has just copy over the files from here(C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE) to have all you settings in place should be the same for windows 7 or 8 users. Hope this helps. |

There is no remnants of the patch on my computer as it is deleted after it is finished applying [ http://puu.sh/aRc6x/2be9f491c9.png ], so I cannot upload it for a corp mate to use. Further more, the apparent source of where the patch was downloaded ( http://cdn1.eveonline.com/817495/EVE_Online_815752-817495_win.zip ) [ http://puu.sh/aRbg0/38ef8e37d6.png ] is not allowing for an automatic manual download.

WTF CCP??? AGAIN? Do you people hire the same programmers the US government used for their healthcare exchanges or what?
Windows 8.1 two clients. $30 a month. For a game I have to reinstall every single time there is a patch! This is ridiculous. This has been on going for over a year. I swear to god when this paid year for these two accounts expires in Feb or so I will not be resubb'ing as I am completely fed up with having to reinstall everytime CCP decides to push out a patch adding new content (and refuses to fix old content but that is a different post/rant).
Surely I am not the only one on windows 8.1 expeirenceing this??? I even formatted and reinstalled the OS thinking it could be it, but no. Low and behold here I am reinstalling Eve. AGAIN. and AGAIN.
I am one very very unhappy customer CCP. You are going to loose a almost 10 year customer over this. Nothing like downloading the eve client over slow metered frontier DSL over and over. And byt he time it finishes you will prob have released a pathc to fix the buggy patch you just released which means I get to do it all over again, like some horrible geeky groundhog day hell !!!!!!!!! |

(Note: not all these users use IE, in fact one is vehemently opposed to IE and uses Chrome or Firefox - however, I still had to open IE on her computer and apply the changes for her file transfers to work correctly).
1) Open Internet Explorer 2) Select the gear (tools). 3) Select Internet Options -- Connections Tab 4) Select LAN Settings. 5) If Proxy settings is Checked, Uncheck it. (mine was).
6) Eve finished downloading the update and the Client is Ready!
I know this may not be the solution for everyone, but give it a try. Good Luck!
I had the issue, that the launcher didn't load the start-screen!!! it drove me mad (you know the game,repair, install, deinstall, kill all caches and buffers...) I tried the proxy part, and indeed, the box was checked!!! unchecked, closed the ie, restarted the launcher ->>> TADAAA
Using win 8.1 pro media center with LATEST damn patches (great game CCP, hates go out to MS for tweaking **** without giving notice!!!) |

Well I for one am glad CCP never fixed mine or any of your guys patching/launcher problems.
At least this way I will never be forced to see this horrible patch with the nullsec changes.
I cant even log in (to my paid until feb account) to give away my now useless to me characters, isk, and items.
Perhaps a new game is in order and not this, CCP's Nullsec killer patch --- "the quest for more subscription money".
Make these kinds of changes and still not fix things from years ago (hello walking in stations, hello corp rights interface, hello 714 various sundry bugs, hello mostly broken at patch time Eve Launcher).
Goodbye Mannington Skank a disgruntled 10 year player.
