Edited by: Galadreen on 02/03/2006 19:12:36 I like the game and everything ( thats why I pay for it ), but is it too much trouble to e-mail the customers to let them know if you are going to patch the game or whatever?
This downtime is a complete joke, I honestly cant for the life of me, see why anyone would give an award to the company that is doing this.
Its like, CCP thinks that Eve is so good that you dont deserve it 24/7, if it is up cool, if not too bad.
One thing these misfits can learn from Americans is customer service.
There cant be a word for customer service in Icelandic, or where ever the hell this game is from.
Two of my friends have just cancelled their accounts, I bet more people are doing this too.
Its a shame, but totally expected when CCP treat their customers like this.

Let me tell you a secret; Other games are far, far worse. CCP does a fine job letting us know what's going on, really. All you need to do is look at the website.
I upgraded to a full account today. Looks like I'm compensating for those lost accounts already.

Edited by: Unuthiel on 02/03/2006 19:16:59 Try keeping up with the news notices, you know, like the ones that show up in your character selection screen? Please quit, we certainly don't need such incredibly uninformed people playing the game, it tends to be less forgiving that other MMOs.

LOL CCP has great customer service. And you wanna talk about bad customer service? Go over to the EQ2 side of town and ask everyone there just how much SOE loves their customers. EQ2 players HATE SOE's customer service. Mainly because it doesn't exist.

CCP is warning since 1 week ago, their costumers that the patch was going to be deployed today. As usual they gave a warning to train long skills ...
I really dont understand your complaints ...

Then you have a lot to learn about the game.
You`ll see, lmao.
Also I have played just about every MMORPG going to date, so let me tell you a little secret little chappy, think before you open your gob.

I have played every US based MMORPG and from what I have seen the customer service is equal to or better than any other in all areas I have encountered...there was a warning about this downtime well in advance...I have waited patiently on patch days for every major US game and extra downtime of several hours is not unique to Eve (try EQ on every major expansion ever released)

Relax my friend, take a chill. You'll have your eve fix soon, go read a book or watch some TV.
Besides, if you've played other MMO's you'll obviously know these things happen & in my opinion CCP do a very good job when deploying updates, would you rather them deploy it early & full of bugs?

hmnn..100000 emails sent out, just so people who dont pay attention can stay in the loop.as for the patch being late?so what, its not like they are running a bus service,id imagine this kind of massive task requires a lot of work, and some pretty heavy testing

Although I don't believe that sending emails out is currently under consideration, though I will pass it on. The forums and news in game are certainly good places to start your thirst for knowledge.

You're kidding right? I've known for over a week that today was patch day, as has most everyone else.

This last part's totally laughable. Even in the 2 weeks I've played I've seen better communication by CCP then any other MMORPG maker.
If you think this is really bad customer service you should really visit the World of Warcraft forums. You'll come back here singing the praises of Eve Customer Service and Feedback.
One thing I've learned as an American MMORPG customer. No one whines like us.

I think they learned a "great" lesson already, as with many American companies it's mostly outsourced overseas AFAIK (though I may be wrong).

Okay, not to be a moaner or a I love CCP guy but... I REALLY REAALLLLLYYYY hate certain stuff about the whole patch crap. Sometimes when I download the patch there are corrupt this and that in it or this file doesn't want to do that blah blah blah. I needed to download the full client today. what a waste of time, and then I find out the server STILL isn't up. and that's been since like 11am here. it's now like 8pm and still isn't online. plus it says it'll be an extra hour ontop of that.
all I want is for CCP to actually do something on time for once like they say they will, instead of so many problems all the time. Maybe they should hire more or better server admin type folks.

I think CCP should do the Scotty approach to timescales, and multiply their estimated downtimes by 5. ;) Then, when the server is up early we go "HOORAY! CCP delivered early! They're miracle workers!"
I've not played many MMORPGs, but CCP's customer service is as good as, if not better than other games I've played.

Wow, first time any admin has been here, thats somewhat sweet.
One would expect e-mails to be sent out automatically since we are paying for this.
Why should I go to a website to see why my paid game has gone down, you tell me if your moronic colleagues have messed up, I shouldnt have to enquire.
I work for a living and dont check your website for updates, it would be nice for e-mails to be sent out so we know.

I was thinking that aswell this morning. When it said that'd be down for I think originally 4 hours :S anyway.. I thought they should say 24hours so when it's on before I think they done a good job.

give it a while my friend ... you will get used to losing whole days during patch deployements ... nothing you can do about it .... and ccp wont give you a refund on your time lost .... unfair i know but its a case of once they have your money they dont give a monkeys ... i think its unfair ... but they work with that frame of mind ... its a case of "put up or shut up " ... and dont forget to look greatful doing it ... after all ... they give you free content

I also stated the news was available in game, which as another user pointed out has been there for a week.
If you'd like to suggest we send emails out and go straight to the development team, try this thread.
