EVE: The Second Genesis
I'm going to assume this is the OOOOOLD version of EVE Online, but I'm not entirely sure, since there was a RTS space sim called EVE as well at some point.

It is quite a nifty gadget, but I dont think you can jump right into triple head eve just yet. For that device to work, you have to set secondary "monitor" on your graphics card twice as wide as your primary, then the box does its trick, and works out the triple monitor output.
The limitation is in the graphics cards, because both ATI and nvidia cards have problems displaying 3d across multiple monitors unless your in span mode. But in span mode both monitors have to have identical resolutions, there likes the problem.
Until graphics cards can pump out smooth 3d across monitors with different resolutions then this device is not suitable for Eve.

theres better solutions than that ,you can allready get 3 in 1 monitors for years now ,some are even more than that and they dont look as crap as having 3 single monitors in a row

this is not new at all really.
I had eve running on 3 42in plasma's about 2 years ago. the pic was posted on the forums, but the host is long since dead :(
and yes with the matrox you can run 2 or even 3 eve's without them minimizing if you click on one of them.

That keyboard looks cool, but I don't think it'll type as nice as the ergonomic 'natural' keyboards.

Can't stand ergonomic KBs. The buttons are all misshapen and I constantly miss and misspell. Not to mention it's actually uncomfortable about a 7 hour session.

Does that matrox thing support directX 9c, will it support directX 10, does it support OpenGL 2.0? Nice kit, just a shame the real gfx boys don't do something similar (ATI, NVIDIA).

The easier and probobly just as pricey option is to use an SLI motherboard.
Use 2 graphics cards(NOT in SLI mode) use the first for your center monitor, and the 2nd vid card, use both monitor outs on it to do your left and right monitors.
You don't need the highest FPS on the 2 side ones, as long as they're 25FPS + you're golden, as most of us would use them for our overview, with our chat channels split between the two side monitors and the left hand hud/menu(Dunno what it's called here, I'm a newbie to eve) on the left monitor with mainly just our ship controls in the center.
This would work a lot easier, you wouldn't have to worry about odd resolutions, or setups.
Have one GOOD LCD for your central display, and 2 lower cost ones for the side monitors. Would work out VERY well.
If you're looking to run multiple accounts, why not just buy a second computer. You can get cheap entry level comptuers for around $300USD(Which is the estimated cost of that matrox tripple view thing) and just run your other accounts on the 2nd computer. This leaves your main rig for your most active account and winamp(or other music programs) and so on. - - - - Q: Wheres the Search button on the forums? A: There isn't one. go here. www.eve-search.com

A looong time ago, I saw a site with a lot of screens. I can't remember the name of that site, or the manufacturer, and it's pretty annoying, but still, I found that site and it was jaw-dropping. Not only did they have one single monitor with 3 combined screens... The even had a 4 and 5 version!
On top of that, they had them all in different sizes too. Imagine a monitor with 5x 23" screens in ONE!
Okay, with the right computer (read: POWERFUL!) I would have this setup...
Left side, 1+2: Eve client 1 dualscreened and windowed. Right side, 4+5: Eve client 2 dualscreened and windowed. Middle screen, 3: Forums, TeamSpeak, or a movie to watch while you mine ---

Matrox had screenies of triple screened Eve about 18 months ago ish, cool, but not real support like alot of people would like for dual screening. Just spanning everything across 3. I also believe the Matrox cards can't really compare to a decent nVidia/ATi dual headed card performance wise.

Since it simulates a monitor and not a graphics card it doesn't need to. --- The Advanced Drone Control Panel. |
