the ridiculous price could've been an indicator of how overpowered something is and how likely it's to be nerfed

Um, are you sure?
Friend with gist x-type xlarge booster + gist x-type shield boost amp + full crystal set gets 1,477 hp per boost since the patch, same as before.
672 * 1.43125 * 1.5363 = 1,477 hp, seems fine.

Who gives a toss? Every change causes the market to fluctuate, its not been a problem in the last 3 years, it shouldnt be now.

Not specifically. Impending increases cause hoarding. Impending decreases cause a kind of "hot potato" effect where everyone wants rid of them as fast as possible. In both cases, I'd say the market goes into chaos.
If the changes are made to the game without warning, at least everyone can see that the stats are lower at the same time. If they warned about it in the patch notes, the few people that actually read them would have an advantage where they could sell the item for full cost to someone who didn't know the stats were about to drop. It's almost a scam as the seller is lying by omission of that important fact.

Heh, I wonder if the OP is currently trying to purchase a set of crystals and is scare-mongering to generate some bargains? ;p

Heh, possibly. Sounds like it's a bug or something if he's telling the truth. AFAIK, the set is working perfectly but there was an issue where T2 implant bonuses were being applied to the non-T2 implants that affected the same attribute. Is there a T1 implant that affects shield boosting like the crystal does?

Oh, you'd be surprised how many people don't bother reading the things. People will always complain about changes in-game when they were all in the patch notes for weeks before the patch. I guess most forum-goers would read them, though.

My guess is that this is someone using cap relays on his shield tank, and now when they've been de-bugged he's getting the results he should have had all the time. Am I forced to have any regret? Explain what do you mean by market chaos and why is that bad?
I completely don't understand the problem.

I think I already explained that but basically I mean that if you let players know of coming changes to the value of things via a limited resource like the patch notes (limited because most people don't read them), you create a split in the market where some people know that a certain item is about to change in value and the rest of people don't. You get people ripping each other off left right and center and a lot of people get annoyed. It's really only important when it's an NPC item as supply is unlimited and it can crash trading markets or cause hoarding but it can be important for player-valued items like implants too.
But in this case, it's not important. This is just a bug, nothing was apparantly changed.

Only when the item is abundant, cheap and/or NPC supplied. These are none of the above.

What's your full fitting? Any capacitor power relays? Have you tried fitting just the shield booster and nothing else to the ship to see what boost you get?

Yes, it is surely as I said, he has 2 cap relays fitted.
According to my math: Tobias L booster + GistXamp + full crystal = 591 hp boost. Adding 2 cap relays it becomes 485. While before when the relays were bugged it became 509.

On the other hand, I'm receiving less bonus for slave implants and an armor hp implant. Perhaps their synergy has been fiddled with.
