id like to see you fit a mwd and 4 scramblers on your celestis and manage to tackle anything.
So by disregarding a cruiser such as the Celestis because it's too slow, you're basically limiting the role of "tackler" to be filled by frigates, I'm guessing? Perhaps a couple of faster cruisers such as a Stabber? (however, I'm not sure about that, as the Helios is faster than most cruisers I believe, and was also disregarded for being "too slow").
So correct me if I'm wrong, but you're basically left with frigates to do the tackling, as they are the only ones with enough speed. That means you're suggesting that a ship worth a couple of hundred thousand isk, and a couple weeks training, should essentially be able to disable, and hold in place, a ship worth up to and over a hundred million isk, and taking months to train for. To myself, that seems far more unbalanced than the state of scramblers vs. stabs.
However, I suppose you could also be referring to elite frigates, and not any tech 1 frigates. Would this not however limit pvp to a far fewer number of pilots than currently engage in it? As it seems a large part of the problem with stabs is that they don't allow 1 vs. 1 pvp.
To me then, this doesn't make sense. As I understand it, the role of "tackler" is for a ship to, well, tackle an opponent's ship, and trip/hold them up until reinforcements arrive to do the actual killing. Ok fine, but then where does the 1 vs. 1 argument against stabs come into play on this? Again, we're back to a 200k isk ship with 2 weeks training being able to pin the veteran pilot in his 100mil isk ship.
I guess I'm just confused. When 2 equal ships/pilots meet for PvP, you don't want one of them to be able to get away no matter what the other pilot does. To me, that's somewhat understandable. However, when 2 ships meet in a vastly unbalanced conflict, you still want the same result. This hardly seems fair or balanced to me.

PS. Just for my own curiousity's sake, as an Eve noob; it's been mentioned several times in this thread that med slots are of much higher importance than low slots in PvP. For example, it's unfair to make scramblers use meds, while stabs only have to use lows. Why is this? To myself, it seems that some ships rely more on mids, while others rely very heavily on lows instead? Yet, it's been flatly stated that med slots are of higher importance. Why is this? I'm not in any way flaming, I'm genuinely curious.
