Edited by: Dexus on 04/03/2006 01:19:47 WCS are becomining a problem. within the last week, I can remember at least 6 out of 8 people having WCS. I even ran into a BC (cyclone) that had a full rack of WCS and was too cowerd to admit it (3 people were scambling him). There has got to be some sort of penalty from using WCS. so lets post ideas and maybe ccp will read them -They can only be used around a set distance around Structures like Stargates and stations (maybe 150km so campers cant use them) -Using them reduces your DPS and RoF, but a damage mod could cancel the penalty out -compleatly make it impossible to fire when WCS are fitted -If you fire, WCS dont work
What do you think?
*Dexus prays Verone/snigg doesnt hijack my thread again with the complaint form * edit: added new idea

I say a large penalty to targetting is in order.

If people in your hunting ground are fitting more WCS wouldn't it just make sense for you to start fitting more scramblers?
I mean honestly, 8 ships got away from you?? I figure you would have assumed to put more in scramb strength after the 4th, at least!

I mostly fly a rax with blasters. Adding more scrams will totally bork the whole setup. Fly with more wingmen? Sometimes theyre hard to comeby, Ill have to split the ransom money, and carebears will just cry 'omg gank'

Err... you're complaining about having to gimp your ship, so you want to gimp others' ships instead?
Warp stabs only come in strenghts of 1. Scramblers come in strenghts of up to 2. I mean, how much more of an advantage do you want?

Last time I check, not fitting WCS does NOT gimp your set up. WCS should only be used as a traveling modul, and should have penalties if used in combat. IMO, only a frig should have a 7.5km scram, since it uses less cap and is fast enough to close into scrambling range, when in a cruiser its a bit slower. But I dont expect you to know this, since you are still a noob.

I have no problem with haulers mining ships and other non combat ships that have stabs. What I have a problem with is people flying around in PVP ships loaded to the teeth with stabs and haveing almost no risk when engadgeing in combat. Im not condeming people who has 1 maybe 2 stabs on a ship when they are out soloing thats fine. but having 8 on your geddon and pvping is just wrong. Sig removed. I also dont have a problem with non-combat ships. But I believe the line should be extremely thin. Your either a non-combatant or your a combatant. Fitting alittle bit like a combatant (guns) and alittle like a non combatant (WCS) should be extremely difficult, if not impossible. Making WCS highslot is also a great idea.

Problem remains, some ships does not rely heavily on low-slots. Many ships rely heavily on med-slots. Fitting more sramblers doesnt make sence. Having to beat 2 points is tough as it is with the range bonus on the module.
Warp-stabs should IMHO affect the PVP-ability of ships. Lock-time, dmg-dealing, max-lock targets. You name it.
Warpstabs are for traveling, not for heavy PVP. With the new changes and stacking penalties. Fitting your low-slots with damage-mods is just a waste. Those new free slots are often replaced with warpstabs, that's the reason why warpstabs are so much more common now.

Yes, because it's all about you, isn't it? The purpose of Eve is for you to be able to take anything you want from other players anytime you want it. After all, the rest of us don't matter. We just pay our $15 a month in the hope of creating a richer play environment for you.
That said, I'd frankly like to see WCS and jammers just done away with entirely. The way they're implemented right now is just stupid. It's all about who's willing to sacrifice more slots to mount more jammers or stabs.
It's like how they have to cram one more blade onto all the razors every so often and discover the ULTIMATE IN SHAVING TECHNOLOGY! Or how they have to come out with new Doritos every month now because last month's Doritos aren't X-Treem enough anymore.
What's next? Pay CCP $5 and get to add another low slot to any ship so you can mount one more jammer or one more stab and finally be the end-all of Eve? The whole thing's just idiotic.
There. Said that.

Quote: Last time I check, not fitting WCS does NOT gimp your set up.
What are you talking about? Of course they gimp your setup! A person with WCS fitted can't fit a damage mod or armor tanking mod in that (or those) low slots because its being occupied by a WCS! That is how it gimps your setup.
If you guys have legitimate ideas or support for ideas I suggest you take this to the Ideas forum and stop complaining. I've heard this is a common response on WCS threads but, seriously! There is only one equation involved with warp scrambling... if they have more than one WCS, you need more than one scrambler.
Id you don't understand this, please restart the 2nd grade.

Make Warp Disruptor's +2 Scrambling and Warp Scramblers +4 Strength, this should alleviate the problem somewhat.

Maybe I should have broken it down for you... [THOUGHT]WCS are becomining a problem.[END THOUGHT] [THOUGHT] within the last week, I can remember at least 6 out of 8 people having WCS.[END THOUGHT] You see, im im just giving past experience to back up my claim, to make it look like im just not pulling it out of my ass. But if all I wrote was "WCS are becoming a problem", then write down how we can fix it, people like you will still point out "How are they becoming a problem? Why didnt you give experience to backup your claim?"
To Sicex: Re-read that quote. I said "Last time I check, not fitting WCS does NOT gimp your set up." Notice the part where I said "not fitting".If you don't understand this, please restart the 2nd grade. But fitting WCS doesnt gimp your ship enough. Always being able to warp out when ever you want is always a plus. fitting extra scams so somebody doesnt warp away is always a negative. Yes your correct, you cant fit an armor tank or fit damage mods with WCS, but WHY DO YOU NEED THEM WHEN YOU CAN ALWAYS WARP OUT? people with stabs have almost no risks at all when theyre engaged in combat(except the 'omg what if they have more scramblers if I do lowslots'). How do you suggest me to outfit my rax?

I think it should be left as it is because:
Life as a pirate isn't about being fair to other players, so why should you be bothered about having to gang up on your prey?
Putting a WCS definitely impedes on a setup, it's already a penalty.
Being a pirate should be hard. High risk, high difficulty, high reward.
Safe flying, all.

1.Ganking isnt fun at all, suprising your victums is always fun. 2.See above posts by Other pirates or me. 3.So you say Pirates should gang up on prey, BUT you want it to be hard, risky, and highly rewarding? please explain. I prefer pirating solo because Its High risk, high difficulty, and has high rewards.

Firstly, Stabs are fine. There are already methods and simple tactics to counter them. They exist because people like to enjoy thier game to.
Secondly, If you find the rax can't do what you want it to do, don't use a rax. If you find the ship is not up to the task of dealing with targets that have multiple stabs get a different ship, or use different tactics. I mean what's next a petion for the rax to get a bonus of +4 to scram strength to make your day easier? Or perhaps a couple extra mids?
Just because someone has found a way to fit their ship that grants them a better likelyhood of not losing it is no reason to start complaining on the forums. It's likely that you already know what to do to counter the stabs, you simple can't be bothered to do it.
As to your purposed penalties to WCS, they are severe to say the least. Out of curiousity, what penalties are you going to purpose for scrams to balance it out? What you really want is a way to be a solo force in a situation where teamwork is required. And your examples (one of which is an extreme case and very rare) are easily countered with 2 tacklers or one interdictor.
Pick a different ship/region/tactic and deal with it.

Penalty for warp disrupters: 5 cap/sec (or depending on your skills), 20km range, and 10 more CPU needed than warp core stabs. Currrent penalty for stabs: none, this needs to be fixed
And the idea about warp bubles and interdictors? lmao? bubbles can only be placed in 0.0, they take time to anchor, and even if they can be placed in .4 and lower; I dont gate camp. Interdictors are... expensive and, on paper, they look thin as paper.
By the looks of it, It looks like solo pirating is (and has been :P) over. If this is true, dont you think somethings wrong? If killing a single ship takes 3 people.....wtf? Every ones turning into a ganker

Wrong. First those aren't penalties for fitting scrams. Second, by your logic stabs cost alot of CPU, means less of everything. So by your flawed reasoning, stabs already have a consequence.
Second. They have a penalty. I armor tank, that's one less slot for the tank, cap regen, or a damage mod. Helluva penalty if you ask me.

So? They are a viable tactic to dealing with stabs. Just because there is work or risk involved doesn't make them a waste. More and more it sounds like you simply want solo pirating to be easy, where everyone fights, no one runs, and there's fun all around. When you find this utopia lemme know I'll head right over.

C'mon.... Look, solo pirating isn't over. Some get away some don't. That's something you accept when you solo.

Alright, stabs dont have enough of a consequence :P. And if you use warp core stabs, why would you need a tank/damagemods/cap relay/ect...? you can just warp out.
And I want solo pirating to be viable, If warp disrupting (-1 warp point) only roughly works on 1 out of 4 people, dont you think somethings wrong and something has to be done? I warp scram and shoot people, they shoot me, their shields/armor start to fall, they warp to a stargate or station. Its kind of frustrating. So do you realy think its ok for a warp disrupter to fail 3/4 times?

Everything is fine the way it is. THere HAS to always be a balance. I fit a bunch of WCS while running missions so i can go about my harmless business without people lkike you ganking me left and right. I should get a penalty because i feel like flying safe?
This is NOT a matter to be changed. Disruptors already have the advantage havein -2 strengths while WCS only have one. Thats enough of an advangtage. I have to fit 3-4 WCS if i wanna fly safe while missions, seriously handicapping either my speed, grid, cpu, or armor repair, or a number of other modules that would assist me further.
I accept that there are pirates and dont complain, hell i love EVE for the freedom, and i do some pirating myself on occasion.
There is far too much complaining for change. Use your brain and find new tactics and strategies. Eve is a mind game, i suggest you use it.

Edited by: Shin Ra on 04/03/2006 05:50:22 When people stop fitting out their ceptors for 1v1s and start fitting them for tackling, this problem goes away.
Instead of bringing out a claw and a retribution, switch to a stiletto and a vengeance. Fit -3 on that throax instead of -1. Have all your bs fit a disruptor. Believe it or not, we come across a staggering amount of people wil stabs. Its really not that hard to kill them, even with just a couple of t1 tacklers.
