Do we really need a gazillion different threads complaining about the same thing? Complain in the main thread at the top instead if you have the need to vent.

By "lag", I mean the effects of the memory leak. For those that don't know why the server problems are occuring, there is a memory leak on the server which is causing it to use up more and more memory while it's running. Eventually the memory fills up and we feel the effects as ever-increasing lag. Rebooting the server will clear the memory and allow at least several hours of normal operation before the memory fills up again and lag returns.
This is a temporary solution that is being effected to let us continue playing while a fix for the problem is found. It's better than not being able to play at all, isn't it?

Give it a rest already. We all know there are problems after patch. Not to mention the huge amount of new hardware. Thinks will be alot more enjoyable if we just sit bac and relax. Complaining about the same thing over and over again on the forums, acheives nothing.

QFT and signed, just enjoy the ride for a few weeks, try to play, and if you don't like it don't play lol. But seriously yes there's lag and yes 'incomplete' patches suck, bet we all knew this would hapeen so give 'm a break and if you have a problem let them know it

hmm I might be a fanboi..but having been working in IT for 15 years...It is the nature of software.
you dont see this in some multi-billion dollar businesses ..because they have fail over systems..redundant systems....kinda hard to expect them to maximise dollars here and have 2 or 3 redundant server farms of this scale.
Really if you cant go outside for the weekend..or pick up another game...and all you can do is bash CCP over a content delivery issue....Wow with 5,000 servers might be the place for you...at least one is almost always up ..and when one of the 5000 is down....you wont even know about it!!!

Like I was saying in corp chat a while ago... it seems that CCP try to do too much with their patches all at once, making tracking down issues that bit harder. If they moved to a more frequent patch schedule with smaller batches of fixes at a time, the code would be more robust and everyone would have an easier ride. IMHO, as always.

The hardware upgrade went so smoothly that I'm not going to complain about a few little memory leaks in the last patch. And I'm sure all the programmers are there right now, on the weekend, frantically trying to find the problem.

For those complaining about the patch, I'd like to point out a few key issues that you may be missing. As a veteran of several MMO's, I can honestly say that as far as server stability goes, this game takes the cake. Add to that the fact that they're running concurrently something like 50 times the number of users on the same server as other games.
Anyone who played EQ will agree that this game is silk compared to that. Don't even get me started on blizzard's patching and downtime issues.
In short: Suck it up. Your game will be back shortly.

The server was dropping too many nodes so we decited to reboot. I applied a small hotfix that will help us track down the memory problems. I also changed load-balancing so it balances only by memory use now.

This hotfix does not address the memory issue, it will just help us track down the issue.
However, hopefully the info we get from this will yield a proper fix for this tonight or tomorrow.
Me, Oveur, Fuhry(the lead programmer) and porkbelly (the programmer responsible for most of the low-level code) will be watching the servers tonight and trying to find a solution to the issue.

Somehow at that point I envisioned the devs in the Star Wars ANH scene on the bridge of the Millennium Falcon when Han and Chewy are trying to outmaneuver the imperial ship while Luke hovers in the background and lets them know he's worried by asking constant questions.
I'm just not sure who was in which role.
