First off Im not bad at PvP because I dont have the skills. Oh I have plenty of skills, With about 8 mill in gunnery, 12 mill in spaceship command and alot in other supporting areas (to include a large portion in missiles, Engineering and electronics of course). On paper I look like a fierce fighter. So whats wrong you ask? Well to be a good pvp'er you cant be absent minded. You can't decide to jump into a fight and look down and realize that for some reason you fitted 2 MWD's but no guns. Why was that set up on my megathron? I have no idea, but when the call came I undocked, jumped 5 jumps away and proceeded to do absolutely nothing except try and explain in corp chat/TS why I cant really help out. A pvp'er must pay attention. To be good at pvp you have to have patience. I have tons of patience. I will sit in an asteroid field cloaked waiting. Waiting for hours. I will wait there and wait untill finally the perfect target comes by, the target I can destroy easily and quickly, I uncloak and proceed to web/jam the target...bam he is mine. Why not ransom him? Why are my shields going down? Who is locking me?.............Long story short I just was podded by NPC's as the poor guy who I was attacking still doesnt know whats going on. A pvp'er must have situational awareness. Round 2 sitting in an asteroid field.....this time for no less than 3 hours waiting..along comes a nice target. I ease up into range, decloak, jam/scramble, prepared to shoot...and I hesitate because he is a new character in a merlin. I figure he is hunting in low sec and someone should help the guy out. I convo him and tell him, "hey your lucky today I could have destroyed you, you should be more careful around here though" His reply? "STFU n00b" (after he was out of danger) A pvper cannot have a heart. The last reason I am the worst ever is that I am bullheaded. You have a trap set, I know it but it doesnt matter Im coming through it. Everything can be solved by direct force....I will gladly jump my Thorax in against 3 cruisers and 2 inty's. I lose of course, but I take some with me and I will not back down. Ever. I'd have to admit I've made some dumbass mistakes in the past myself, due to inexperience or just plain not thinking straight. A few months ago I decided to take another outlook on pvp and actually try to stay alive, by being patient and more aware of risks that I used to ignore. Sometime I just feel the need to go out guns a blazing instead of retreating, but Ive decided to stay the course and battle down my primal suicidal tendancies. I always thought people who did not want to loose ships were cowards and I would poke fun at people like Axel (thats the most resent person) for trying hard to stay alive, but now with my new take on eve I can actually see the fun part, its really very intersting trying to stay alive especially now that Im off dial up. Now what Im getting at is, having a good kill/loss ratio does not mean the player is a better or worst pvper. What makes a good pvper is the willingness to fight and reach person/corperate or political goals though it. Anyone who has fitted a gun and scrambler to go out and intentionally kill someone for whatever reason is already a winner imo and should be labled best pvper along with the rest. The worst pvper? Is the one who wants to take up that gun, but is too afraid it might hurt!

This happened to me during an empire war with ATUK. After a good couple fights I decided to spark up a celebratory phatty... Went back to take out this claw... Tackled, webbed and scrambled him, and stood there in amazement as he was tearing me down and I was not scratching him at all... I forgot to activate my guns. Ison's notches

Kelron Queldine	Posted - 2006.03.05 12:11:00 - [25] I almost lost a (PvP fitted) Moa to a Catalyst We both had blaster setups, he had 7 x light ions with antimatter, so he was doing a lot of damage, but it wasn't until after the battle that I thought a) Why didn't I just stay at 4-5km, within my range but out of his? and b) Why didn't I use my drones? (I always forget I have them, I usually fly ships with no drone bay) I manged to win through brute force, but I make sure I think more when I'm fighting now. --------------------------- Signatures are for the weak.

Grimwalius d'Antan	Posted - 2006.03.05 12:40:00 - [27] I consider myself one of the worst PVPers in Eve. - I have a hard time finding targets that does not instadock or outnumber me by 3 - Everytime I've attacked someone alone by the gates, he has had friends on the other side - The few times he hasn't, I've been reluctant to attack, in fear of him having friends on the other side - I occasionally forget to scramble my targets, or forget to turn the MWD off - Sometimes I can make stupid decisions like taking on a Deimos with an untanked neutron Brutix after patch day when the server is having 1 minute lag sessions occationally - When fighting war targets alone, I patiently sit around and wait for 20 minutes in their home system, only to find myself being attacked by 5-25 ships suddenly - Im too lazy to fix instas before the 10th time I pass through that system on an increasingly regular basis - Im constantly broke and I have to grind belt NPCs and sometimes even missions to stay afloat - I've attempted ransoming a Thorax despite still being attacked by his friends, with obvious results - I've actually never reached outlawhood Quite frankly, Im starting to think I MIGHT be a masochist of some sort. Griefing is to ruin a friendly game, which Eve is not.

I was mwding to gate in mega, with mwd on, he locks and fires, I swich ap off and aproach him, but he has me webbed at 9km, I change blaster ammo to Null and then look up and see im 3km away from him with my mwd still on so I change back to void and switch mwd off, still havnt scrambled, still havnt launched drones, I at last have all my guns loaded, im at about 75% armour with all my ***** around, when hes down to half armour I finally remember to scramble him and launch drones. Or the usual Yehaaa, lets gank this noob......oh **, that wasnt a rupture!
