First off Im not bad at PvP because I dont have the skills. Oh I have plenty of skills, With about 8 mill in gunnery, 12 mill in spaceship command and alot in other supporting areas (to include a large portion in missiles, Engineering and electronics of course). On paper I look like a fierce fighter. So whats wrong you ask? Well to be a good pvp'er you cant be absent minded. You can't decide to jump into a fight and look down and realize that for some reason you fitted 2 MWD's but no guns. Why was that set up on my megathron? I have no idea, but when the call came I undocked, jumped 5 jumps away and proceeded to do absolutely nothing except try and explain in corp chat/TS why I cant really help out. A pvp'er must pay attention. To be good at pvp you have to have patience. I have tons of patience. I will sit in an asteroid field cloaked waiting. Waiting for hours. I will wait there and wait untill finally the perfect target comes by, the target I can destroy easily and quickly, I uncloak and proceed to web/jam the target...bam he is mine. Why not ransom him? Why are my shields going down? Who is locking me?.............Long story short I just was podded by NPC's as the poor guy who I was attacking still doesnt know whats going on. A pvp'er must have situational awareness. Round 2 sitting in an asteroid field.....this time for no less than 3 hours waiting..along comes a nice target. I ease up into range, decloak, jam/scramble, prepared to shoot...and I hesitate because he is a new character in a merlin. I figure he is hunting in low sec and someone should help the guy out. I convo him and tell him, "hey your lucky today I could have destroyed you, you should be more careful around here though" His reply? "STFU n00b" (after he was out of danger) A pvper cannot have a heart. The last reason I am the worst ever is that I am bullheaded. You have a trap set, I know it but it doesnt matter Im coming through it. Everything can be solved by direct force....I will gladly jump my Thorax in against 3 cruisers and 2 inty's. I lose of course, but I take some with me and I will not back down. Ever. A few months ago I decided to take another outlook on pvp and actually try to stay alive, by being patient and more aware of risks that I used to ignore. Sometime I just feel the need to go out guns a blazing instead of retreating, but Ive decided to stay the course and battle down my primal suicidal tendancies. I always thought people who did not want to loose ships were cowards and I would poke fun at people like Axel (thats the most resent person) for trying hard to stay alive, but now with my new take on eve I can actually see the fun part, its really very intersting trying to stay alive especially now that Im off dial up. Now what Im getting at is, having a good kill/loss ratio does not mean the player is a better or worst pvper. What makes a good pvper is the willingness to fight and reach person/corperate or political goals though it. Anyone who has fitted a gun and scrambler to go out and intentionally kill someone for whatever reason is already a winner imo and should be labled best pvper along with the rest. The worst pvper? Is the one who wants to take up that gun, but is too afraid it might hurt!

This happened to me during an empire war with ATUK. After a good couple fights I decided to spark up a celebratory phatty... Went back to take out this claw... Tackled, webbed and scrambled him, and stood there in amazement as he was tearing me down and I was not scratching him at all... I forgot to activate my guns. Ison's notches

(I always forget I have them, I usually fly ships with no drone bay) I manged to win through brute force, but I make sure I think more when I'm fighting now. --------------------------- Signatures are for the weak.

Griefing is to ruin a friendly game, which Eve is not.

I was mwding to gate in mega, with mwd on, he locks and fires, I swich ap off and aproach him, but he has me webbed at 9km, I change blaster ammo to Null and then look up and see im 3km away from him with my mwd still on so I change back to void and switch mwd off, still havnt scrambled, still havnt launched drones, I at last have all my guns loaded, im at about 75% armour with all my ***** around, when hes down to half armour I finally remember to scramble him and launch drones. Or the usual Yehaaa, lets gank this noob......oh **, that wasnt a rupture!

Ginger Magician	Posted - 2006.03.05 18:32:00 - [35] One of my worst mistakes was to jump into 0.5 space by accident with a full pvp fitted tech 2 raven.I was chasing a group of noob bs at the time.OFC as soon as i decloaked i was webbed jammed and scrambled by npcs and then the players that i was chasing also came to the fight. After destruction of the raven there was a fair bit of lag and a zealot managed to pod me.That single incident cost me several hundred million isk. However I always learn from my mistakes and I wont do that ever again.

I'm no good at PVP, fortunately i don't find myself in a situation where i do it much. usually end up hessitating, forgetting to launch drones... switch on guns? hell one time before RMR i was out in a raiding party in my thorax and thought to myself hey i have instas to this system and next door is a good place to lay low for a while. Insta'ed to the gate where about 6 war targets were in arbitrators (yes this was with a whole load of drones) jumped the gate and was just warping out..1/4 speed 1/2 speed.....BLUH....scrambled...pod....station....all because i forgot about my armor tank and didn't even fire back. The worrying point is that i was not drunk, i was sober....just nervous......i went back to mining the next day.. yarrrr ------------------- How did i get here?

Couple of seconds later i'm into structure and the rax seems to have activated an uber tank as i can't hurt it at all. Then i realised that i had turned on my remote repper not my armour rep coz they have the same icons and i sat them next to each other. There used to be a comic for this, but I cant find it. There was an evolution guy in a reaper and a ca guy in an apoc. The evolution dude was probably annoying the hell out of the CA apoc, finally the apoc got a lock on the reaper and shouted "haha killed you" just as the concord gank squad warped in and blew his apoc. Im starting to think that I theoretically could've evaded them forever in what I pressume was lag. Only problem is they kept killing my shuttles even 30 minutes after I ceased hostilities. Griefing is to ruin a friendly game, which Eve is not.

If you just keep jumping untill the aggression wears off. Warped in at 15, with the wrong type of torps for him, no scrambler, knowing that he was an extremely good Mega pilot (damn you Farjung) and decided to engage him anyway. But as long as you learn from the mistakes you make, they aren't that bad..... Right? :)

A friendly neutral had setup a warp bubble at the gate my friend had instas to. The neutral decided to sit beside the exit point of the warp bubble in a very powerful BS (Caldari). My friend lands right beside the neutral and cant believe his bad luck. He was within jumps of the station but now faces the prospective of a total loss without insurance. But as luck would have it, my friend remembered fitting 3 NOSFERATUS units in his high slots and 1 NEUTRALIZER. Of course he only had 3 large guns which limited his offense capability. Well my friend sat there for a split second wondering if the neutral would open fire. And the neutral, I suppose realizing his ship was superior to the Level 1 BS he faces within 5km. And so the neutral launches his drones at my friend. Now my friend being the cool cucumber that he is, looks for the exit point of the warp bubble and heads toward it while taking damage. At this point my friend's shields are gone and he is losing armor. Fortunately my friend has Level 5 Armor skills and a decent tank which he remembers to activate. The damage STOPS cold. Then my friend activates his NOSFERATU AND NEUTRALIZER and amazingly the neutral's attacks are reduced to 5 pathetic drones not doing much at all. Now my friend is angry but not dumb. When he sees someone enter local, he decides that with only 3 guns, it is time to cut his losses. In my friend's estimation, the local would be upon them before he can finish killing the neutral, so he warps out. My friend arrived safely at his destination and the neutral never said a word. Life in 0.0 is Grand when you meet a guy with a bubble

This was before there were +5's, so they were pretty damned expensive, kitted out in said new set of W/P/I/M implants this guy decides that the trip home is way to long, and he just cba..... right click .... pod .... undock in 0.0. 'omfg where have my implants gone?' 'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!' Oh, how i laughed! My personal worst one. I was in CA (for about a week ) back in the day, and running about 2 mins behind on a fleet destined for U-Q, SA had set up on us and just as i entered warp to the rest of the fleet, the order was given to disengage. Dammit! suffice to say came out of warp smack in the middle of a hostile fleet (if any of the Old Sk00l players remember the sheer numbers both CA & SA bought to the table back then). Promptley got BBQ'd - bad call on my behalf! There have been many since, but not as bad as coming out of warp, seeing the screen and just bashing your head against the wall kind of stupid. I sit their for a sec, tinkering with something when he warps out right on top of me. 2 seconds later = dead breacher. So I head home, get a new breacher, and come back. I head back into the belts and see a pirate in a rifter with a 1m bounty on his head. Sweet something I might be able to kill! I launch a slavo of missles, then he starts pumping lead into me. Im near death, so I warp out to... a station. I pop out and try to dock with the station. Sheilds, Armor, then hull evaporate. Thats right, I attacked first, I got agro, silly me. I get a shuttle, wait for the giant red agro timer then pop out. Again, my ship explodes. Ok so I guess there was another aggresion counter I didnt expect. I wait for the entire timer to expire, then head off to go get a Rifter. Head back, hitting random spawns in the roids, get jumped by a thorax. I double click in the opposite direct and try to run. I look back and there is a swarm of little X's chassing me. Well s**t. Pod, warp, repeat. I am horrible at this game.

After another eternity I get through the gate, and this time (I've smartened up a little now) I let him jump through to get him on the other side. Jump through, when he decloaks I target him, and fire. He warps off, because I forgot to activate my scrambler. I warp to the next gate, and he's not there. A few seconds later, I see the following message in local: "Man, you suck... I've been sitting here on autopilot eating a sandwich" I scanned him down to a planet, but I just didn't have the brainpower to try and kill him after that.
