did they change the nanomechanical ones?

IMHO 8% is totally 100% useless... I think they should raise the normal CPU enhancer's stats so that the photonic CPU stays roughly the same, perhaps a little tiny bit lower. Even 15% is usefull... anything less and the module becomes useless because you need too many of them to make it worth your while. If a tech 5 enhancer is crappier than a tech 1 photonic, then raise the damn stats on the tech 5 enhancers... that's my two cents anyway.

Sigh, I guess no one will be able to stack miner II's on a thorax anymore (without filling up low slots with co-processors).
First time I got hit hard by a nerf. |

28% to 8% ouch.... Talk about overnerf. Be nice if they had some way to grandfather this kind of change in.

Like the man said, everyone will be in the same boat. And its supposed to be difficult to fit your ship with all the nifty equipment, you have to make choices and compromises, personally I think it makes fitting out your ship more interesting and also makes your skills more important.

So it can't just be photonics...
What are the nanoelectric nanomechanical and quantums cpus at now? there's not a lot of room between a coprocessor 1 and a photonic for those other rares now is there? Is this going to be another item where there are 4 rare versions and they are all the same stats like power diagnostics and so many other pointless rares?

TOO MUCH!!! Please please adjust the CPU bonus on Tech2+ equipment.
With the new stacking rules with this nerf will make it all but impossible for cruisers to mine as well as they do now.
You're basically forcing me and my corpmates to use BS to mine in because of the CPU requirements.
This effectively is making all mining lasers use 20% more CPU than they do today.
This will also impact the ability for people to mine as effectively.
Please, please reconsider this change.

Edited by: Hyrii on 09/09/2003 02:42:53 Edited by: Hyrii on 09/09/2003 02:42:23 its the standard we have to much push us back to keep us playing technique that is become quite old.
btw - stacking nerf does not apply to cpu

Typical CCP over nerf. I mean.. have they nerfed a SINGLE thing yet that needed a minor tweak and so make a minor adjustment? NO! They go in shooting from the hip and totally descimate whatever they had in their nerf bat crosshairs - Weapons skills, MWD's, Stacking formula, loot drops anyone?

Edited by: Blacklight on 09/09/2003 17:03:02 I had a whine about this change gimping my battleship in another thread but thinking it over and now being sober(!), I've had another more sensible thought.
The critical issue in my mind here is time, time spent in game, valuable RL time that is used to play the game because it is supposed to be fun.
What do a lot of people spend most of their time doing in game right now? Right, mining.
What is the least fun part of the game right now? Right, mining.
Now that your CPU is gonna be nerfed to death with the Death Star Ray of all nerfs, guess what you won't be able to fit as many of to your ship? Right, mining lasers.
So guess what we all will have to spend more time doing? Right, mining.
So basically a nerf that appears to be an attempt to rebalance the tech levels is gonna cost us all hours more in mining time. Guess what CCP people don't play this game to sit staring at asteroids all bloody day. To make the game more fun we need to be able to mine faster not slower. I'm not suggesting instant uber mining but just less damn game time.... :(
Be careful with the nerf's that slow gameplay and progress down, longevity is only a good thing if people are interested and having fun.

BLOODY WELL SAID Blacklight...I know if mining take longer than it does now I'll be canceling atleast 2 of my 3 accounts. Why did I bust my ass to get 3 battleships??? so I could mine more efficently, NOT so I could go get 300 Million ISK blown up in 3.5 seconds by some pirate with a bad hair day. Pirates have their place, and for the most part my respect (Fear)
But mining is my bread and butter, and if I gotta use all my low slots for cpu enhancers just to run my cu vapors and no room for expanders or overdrives...Well it's not gonna be worth my 90 bucks for 3 months to continue this game

I have a suggestion....
Instead of whining....
Improvise, adapt and overcome!
ps. Instead of threatening to leave, just leave. If you no longer care to play this game then fine, the rest of us would hardly care you left or knew you existed anyway. In other words, quit the childish tantrums. If you dont agree with something put down your arguments clearly and concisely. Do any of you whiners who threaten to leave actually think your posts are being taken into consideration??? If I was a dev I would roll my eyes and move on to the next post. You are not helping yourselves in the least.

I don't understand what the problem is with the 27.2% Photonic CPU Enhancers. Photonic CPU Enhancers are already VERY rare and thus what's the problem?
Basically because of the stacking rules and the nerfages to Photonics, the price of Photonics will go though the roof in price. Why would anyone want to buy a lower level CPU then?
Below was the schedule for all the CPU enhancers in the game before this change.
Basic Co-Processor (-6%)
Co-Processor I (-7%) Co-Processor II (-8%) Co-Processor III (-9%) Co-Processor IV (-10%)
Nanoelectrical Co-Processor I (-11.3%) Nanoelectrical Co-Processor II (-12.35%) Nanoelectrical Co-Processor III (-13.4%) Nanoelectrical Co-Processor IV (-14.45%) Nanoelectrical Co-Processor V (-15.5%)
Nanomechanical CPU Enchancer I (-16.6%) Nanomechanical CPU Enchancer II (-17.7%) Nanomechanical CPU Enchancer III (-18.8%) Nanomechanical CPU Enchancer IV (-19.9%) Nanomechanical CPU Enchancer V (-21%)
Quantum Co-Processor I (-21.9%) Quantum Co-Processor II (-23.05%) Quantum Co-Processor III (-24.2%) Quantum Co-Processor IV (-25.35%) Quantum Co-Processor V (-26.5%)
Photonic CPU Enhancer I (-27.2%) Photonic CPU Enhancer II (-28.4%) Photonic CPU Enhancer III (-29.6%) Photonic CPU Enhancer IV (-30.8%) Photonic CPU Enhancer V (-32%)

The word "co-processor" would normally indicate a doubling in CPU power if you only have 1 CPU to start off with, no? If I got another co-processor for the SGI Octane2 that I use at work, and it only increased my cpu outpout power by 8%, I would have it sent back as a defective chip.

Could we get some clarification to this logic please?

Dual Processor systems never give you a 100% performance boost, they dont even give you a 50% performance boost.
Depending on what you are doing, the performance boost is anywhere from 20-30%.
As for the co-processor, the co-processor doesnt need to be a copy of the original, it could be a floating point co-processor that helps with math calculations, or any number of smaller CPU's.
Remember, the old intel CPU's had a seperate math co-processor, it didnt boost the potential of the CPU by 100%, it only gave a marginal increase in performance.
Taken from the May 29th 2003 Devchat at EveGate . <Muaddid> Q: When will sentry gun and station and similar construction pods be introduced on the market? <Hellmar> we have various player owned entities already implemented. Sentry guns, power/shield generators, field repair mini-stations, mobile refineries. We are still working out the last tidbits of how they can be over taken, what is the penalty of having a sentry gun kill a n00b etc. and we have been a bit busy with plugging the holes that people have found.I would say that you'd start to see these items on the market in about 2-3 weeks, very expensive to begin with |
