Ok...just want to show that i run EVE with two accounts. I have also voted for EVE in the transgaming forums. It would be great for CCP to get in touch with transgaming, since the game is (or was before the patch) almost running flawlessly.
I have tried a few solutions for the map problem by changing display settings on windows and copying it over to Linux, but no success.
CCP might sort it out with their patching-cycles after a major deployment, but somehow i have the feeling this has to do with the ESC-Menu problem. I have read somewhere that somebody is trying to patch this but i don't know how far this is.
Another method that we can try is the fix that the IGP-people use: switching changed files around from different versions of EVE, as with the resface bug. But i have not tried this yet, it could break half the game though.

I tried the method of the IGP-people ;)
I fixed the map problem by using the dll trinity.dll from Build 3807. The file is located in directory eve/bin. Replace it with old version and the map works again.
I have yet to check for possible side-effects. Feel free to try help and identify side-effects.

Originally by: hobieone i hope thery get the game running good under wine or cedega as well. but truely like to see a native linux client made. which you'd think would be down the pipe or ccpp isn't going to get many subscribers from china since last i heard china is a big linux market and they don't care much for microsoft and the fact linux is gainning popularity in europe
China maybe able crush the world through its military might but there are two things in this world that China cannot be able to defeat : Wal Mart and Microsoft. Don't expect a linux client at any time.
Well Germany comes to the rescue...we have successfully defeated Wal Mart and are in the process to switch to Linux in major parts of the country.
It's a bit of an irony that CCP kills Linux playability while introducing a german client. I hope they will fix this asap.

Edited by: Doublewhopper on 09/02/2009 10:51:08 I have problems with wine on a laptop that uses a GeforceGo 5200 with OpenSuse 11.
The official client delivers around 25 fps. The wine client delivers only around 5 fps.
I tried to optimize the wine client (wine 1.1.14) to reflect all settings from the official client, but there is almost no change in fps.
Is there a comprehensive list of wine optimizations to run eve?
I only found a guide from Sevarus James for the official client. Can anybody help me? |

For Premium on ATI Catalyst 9.2, you need to recompile Wine 1.1.15 as described here:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17437
My ATI 3850 shows all models now and it works perfect.
