Originally by: Miril I'm using Wine 0.9.45 and everything else is working just fine except text is corrupt and thus unreadable in some parts of the login screen and ingame gui.
At the risk of cross-posting: same for me, on both my laptop (ATi) and desktop (nVidia), and with all Arial font files in the right place.

if you are affected by this you could run a regression test download wine git tree, start with last good and first bad release and work to the breaking patch
Last release version to work was 0.9.44 (without audio), 0.9.45 has the bad graphics - at least, it does here.

Originally by: scyno***** I have the latest wine 0.9.48 and I cannot read much of the text. Would I have no choice but to downgrade to 0.9.44 to fix this problem ?
There is a workaround at last! Copy the 0.9.44 version of wined3d.dll.so (it's in /usr/lib/wine) into your newer version of Wine.

Originally by: Sevarus James ....BUT.....it crashes randomly sometimes killing X completely. And by random I mean random. sometimes it will be fine for an hour + (including jumping/docking/fighting) and then it will just crash or freeze up.
Just a thought - what's your memory usage like at these points?
I find that something, somewhere in the Eve/Wine combination is leaking memory, so the client eventually causes my system to swap itself into a coma. The clue to this is the start of lots of HDD activity, and I've put a button visible on my second screen that runs "killall -9 ExeFile.exe" - it's the only way to save my system when that happens...

Still waiting for some kind of resolution to these issues. Where is the support? Oh me, oh my! Bumpity-bump!
The support is provided by CCP for their official Linux client. What you will find here is a group of player volunteers sharing their experience and ideas at running the Windows client through Wine.
Indeed, someone contributed their opinion to your situation a few posts after yours: Linkage.
Wine support is, as you would expect, on the WineHQ website: specifically here for the Premium client. But the Wine team have a lot more things to worry about than just one game; whereas Transgaming are paid by CCP to fix bugs specifically for Eve.
Personally I am unable to run Premium content because my graphics card is too old to support it, so I can't be more help than this.

Use the Premium client, with classic graphics if necessary/desired.
