Seriously CCP this has to stop now, this is stupid, everyone has 3+ hardners and reps fitted since RMR. This is bloody annoying, all those wannabe PvPers who simply repair all the damage you do to them. This has to be stopped NOW. You shouldnt be able to tank and do damage at the same time. Either make hardners and reppers high-slot module or give them penalties like -50% damage per hardners or repper fitted. I mean, tanking should be for travelling only, real pvpers dont need tanking, this bloody sux, plz CCP do something or I cancel all my accounts!!

Serious, tanking got lost when ppl fitted 7x damage mods on armas or megathrons. If you¦re target outtanks you, then its doing something right. Find other ways to kill it. Friends, EW, nos, drones.... so many possibilities.

I Guess your either not very skilled or your not very good, personally i like a good fight, but maybe you should go back and pop miners in ospreys in 0.4 systems, you may find that they have little tanks/ resists

Well that just F***s the whole point of experimenting with different set-ups.
Wow now its either put the biggest guns you can on, or the biggest tank.
Might aswell do away with 1200mm projectiles and only leave 1400mm, now that i cant tank and damage i have no need to use the smaller guns, which at the mo allow me to fit a bit of a tank aswell.
Omg, does the op want a lollie pop and a step-by-step guid on how to win pvp.
As finding the balance between tak and damage put on a ship is obviously way to complex

2. I said tanking should be nerfed/removed caus its bad, it promotes lots of bad things like blobbing and risk free pvp. For example, if you go in an Ibis against a tanked-to-the-teeth Revelation, whats the fun in it, knowing that the Revelation dude doesnt risk anything at all? Like many great dudes here say, if you dont want to lose, you shouldnt fight.
Then, blobbing. Coming back to the Revelation example, since you obviously can't take a Revelation running a large capital rep or two, + say 3 centum a-type energized adaptive nanos + maybe an energized reactive membrane of the same type, and if its in siege mode, can you imagine what kind of tank that is? You need a huge blob to take that, i'd estimate several hundreds of Ibises, and if you do that, it always generates lots of smacktalk from both sides. I mean imagine how hard would the Revelation dude smack in local, if he was brought down? "zomgwtf u no0bs who can only blob blah blah yadda yadda" etc. And the blob dudes will go on like "omg we killed u eventho u tnakedd liek hell moahahah u n0ob!!1". And if there was no tank, fair 1vs1 fight would be possible, so ppl wouldnt smack as much and there wouldnt be as much blob warfare. So tanking is evil, its bad and should be removed or made for travel only!

Oh, I understand.
Make on 0 m/s the tank to be 100% and on max m/s to be 0%.
Also when you are damage dealer should have some penalty like gank penalty... If you are alone in gank have 100% damage. Every friend or ganker you add on your stupid gank make 25% penalty on damage.
In that way we will fight alone and in same position. Like chess.

I agree with the OP, tanking is ruining the game. If you want fit weapons then CCP should only allow Nano's in lows.
Ps: no scramblers in mids either its to overpowered to be able to scramble people and shoot them.

A ship wearing 1 or more hardener is imo not setup for combat. If you are in a combatship and you set it up with 1 or more hardener, that tells me alot about the faith you have in both your ship, your skills and in your wreckingcrew that should get you out of troubble.
imo, a ravenpilot using 4 hardeners on his ship, is a goddamn chicken$hit that should¦ve never left (insert n00bsystem).

Theres clearly only one solution to this and the post originating the idea for this one. "Concord Contracts"
You simply buy enough isk on ebay, sell time cards, steal from freinds and then you may hire concord for a certain period of time. During this time concord will follow you where-ever you go and should you see someone you dont like they will wtfpwn them.
Dont fear if its an enemy fleet, should you have chosen to select the war payments option during hiring concord will imediately warp in titans to deal with your victim should he fly anything larger than a cruiser.
As an additional feature we can introduce the skill contract killing. This enables you to place one contract who concord will imediately kill on entering any system gretaer than 0.0 per level and allows you to wreak havoc on your victims while you are away at school, work etc

I have been in combat for almost 2 years and this systems works. you wouldnt last 2 sec in a fleet engagement without any tanks.
Mate simple answer LEARN to do more dmg.. if you can break a tank then you are doing something wrong...

Agreed. Who ever claims ships in Eve are balanced needs to try and kill a tanked apoc in a vigil, its just not gonna happen.

seriously, lots of ships now do lots od dmg, without any form of tank, any ship will not last enogh tiem to do enogh dmg to the other one.
i fly cerberus.
mid slots, tank and 1 or 2 ew.
low slot dmg and wcs.

now skills and t2 ammo and guns are more than enogh to doi good dmg, even better if u use mods.
all i can say to u is, u have EW. use it to ur advantage.\
tehre is so many ways u can bea soem one tank, nos em is one .

they want combats to laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast longer, than be quick kills all the time.
thats what armor and shield tanking modules changed over time.
and now we have more tanking skills for passive tanking, so u wotn even need cap.

I've got it! Armor reppers should DAMAGE you instead of repair you. It's genius, I say. And also, hardeners should simply add a big metal helmet to your ship and not actually do anything. I'd fill my low slots with them.

Grow the Frack up and play the game if you dont like it leave. It is whiners like you that dont contribute even the slightest bit of intelligents to a conversation that ruin the game. You have a resonable solution post it otherwise shut up.
As far as tanking and pvp goes the co-incide perfectly together. There are diffrent lvl's of tanking and counters for all of them. The ships in game dont have equal damage output and without tanking it would come down to whoever can put the most damage out the quickest which would be a rather stupid and boring way to play.Even if hardners were nerfed HAC's, Commandships, some BC's, and Some Cruisers would still have hardner resistances so everyoen and thier mother would now train for those. Whether you like it or not no one is going to go out to fight in their bare skinnies and expect to win. PVP is about balance, tactics, and have the appropriate setup for the situation.
If you dont like it then cancel your accounts and at least one more whiner will be gone.

erm... I dont understand any of that caus its way too complicated... I paid for the damn game, so it shouldnt be complicated, or? The devs have to make sure I get what I want, however, when I attacked a Revelation in my Ibis the other day, it just tanked away, without taking any risk.. This is just plain wrong.

I didn't bother to read what's been posted as it was seven pages long but I'll still answer. I know it seems like everyone is using hardeners to avoid damage now, or even to repair damage in the middle of a fight, but I don't think we need to get rid of them. They have a place, it's just that they are overused by carebears trying to avoid damage.
We just need to give hardeners a penalty to discourage their use in pvp. A 50% increase to turret sig resolution and a matching decrease in tracking (per hardener) would balance out their advantage in combat. I'm not sure how you could deal with reppers/boosters as they're far too overpowered. Perhaps just remove them until a solution is found. As it is now, there's no penalty to the use of hardeners and reppers. Sure you can argue that every shield hardener is another ecm module you haven't fitted or armour hardener a damage mod but let's face it, right now you can make a ship that can both deal damage and reduce the damage taken.
I think we also need to consider the way you can repair damage at a station. Removing reppers/boosters only delays the problem. We would just end up with carebears running to stations to repair after a fight. What we need is for reppers/boosters to be removed along with station repair facilities. The bug with shields mysteriously repairing themselves also needs to be resolved
These really need to be fixed as they're nothing more than bugs.

Having just got back from having my sides stitched back together after laughing so much at this thread. It occurs to me the main problem is that Breed Love is suffering from Little Tank Syndrome. A bit like short man syndrome where they HAVE to be the best at all cost because of their short comings .

Remove low slots
I mean seriously, they seem to be the source of great distress. You can fit WCS there, hardeners, Armor Reppers and god forbid damage mods.... Removing them would solve all of the above.

REMOVe HIG slots ( No dammege no need for a tank)
Remove med slots (nowone whining about stabs anymore)
Remove Low slots (Nowone wining about tanking)
Then after this remove all the ships, and let us fly around in pods :)

I feel that the op doesn't go far enough. I pay good money, just like everyone else! I want my character to have all teh skills maxxed out to level VI now! I don't want to be flying around in my Reaper, I want a Titan dammit or the ability to fly any ship of my choosing with any setup, so I demand infinate pg and cpu too as well as infinite slots. Then if u give out too much Vasoline, ppl will start whining for tech 2 Vasoline too, which will put too much pressure on the devs, and we will suffer from lag. Then ppl will moan that Vasoline II is overpowered...

Ive read thru this whole topic, and apart from the end bit which was amusing, all i can say is that i cant belive the amount of people using the "BUT MUM, HIS IS BETTER THAN MINE" excuse. This game isnt just about gettin in a ship and blowin the f*** (<--- change this if you want)out of each other. Believe it or not its actually requires some thinking. Its about tactics, and anticipating what the opposition is gonna come back at you with next. If someone comes at you with NOS or warp scrambler, target jam them. It works. i know cos ive done it to give me enough time to run away (Yes im an industrialst). If someone target jams you, get a backup array, if someone has a stronger jamming device than your counter jammers, get your mate to remote sensor boost you. Somtime its just who is quicker off the mark. Sometime your just unlucky. Or CCP could solve everyones complaint and just get us all to stand in a roid belt and lob rocks at each other. Oh but wait.....someones bound to pick up a bigger rock than someone else and then that will end up on here too being argued 'NERF THE ROCKS, ADD A VELOCITY PENALTY TO BIGGER ROCKS'. Ok so they add a penalty. Oh but wait.... Now the other side has discovered Boulders and hides behind them for cover whilst launching the smaller rocks which does more damadge because they can get more off faster. 'NERF THE BOULDERS' ok so bigger rocks can do more damadge now to compensate for the fact that they are less likely to hit. It goes on and on. Just let CCP do the math and enjoy the game. Stop whining because the setups you use now have a counter and you now have to THINK of a way to counter the counter. Its about tactics, teamwork, timing, and a whole host of factors. No dont nerf the tankers. Train you weapons skills. Thats why CCP launched Weapon Specialisations. Whats the point in having a battle thats only gonna last 10 seconds? No fun at all.
If you want quick kills go chase NPC rats in the belts.

Actually I believe that tanking is currently underpowered when 6 or so CONIN ships can all but insta pop BS in pvp. Now lets assume you are taking the fire from 10-20 properly equipped ships with intelligent pilots...You live like what, 20-30 seconds in a heavy armor tank setup (3 hardeners T2, 2 1600mm plates, 1 large armor rep II, 1 energized adaptive nano II/DCU). Some T2 crusiers pop in a single volley from a small group. I shudder thinking about blob fights...tanking is only strong is 1VS1 fights.
If your enemies are tanking too much (which you should love since it means that are not fitting 4+ WCS), pony up for T2 ammo or faction ammo.

I stopped reading there. This thread started badly and has only gone downhill. It is an afront to everything I believe in (literally :D).
Tanking damage is as important as dealing it and you can balance your use of the tank and the gank. Rather than crying out for a nerf to one of the staples of combat, the tank, maybe you should learn how to balance your setup so that you can tank without sacrificing too much damage. You can't have your cake and eat it, as the saying goes. If you want to deal a lot of damage, you're going to have to sacrifice some tanking.
If you're flying a 100% gank setup, your ship is made of paper and peanut butter. If that weren't true, everyone would fit out for maximum damage and tanking wouldn't be a viable option any more (it's barely viable in gang PvP as it is with concentrated fire).

Now the other side has discovered Boulders and hides behind them for cover whilst launching the smaller rocks which does more damadge because they can get more off faster. 'NERF THE BOULDERS' ok so bigger rocks can do more damadge now to compensate for the fact that they are less likely to hit. It goes on and on. Just let CCP do the math and enjoy the game. Stop whining because the setups you use now have a counter and you now have to THINK of a way to counter the counter. Its about tactics, teamwork, timing, and a whole host of factors. There is plenty on this site about EVERY ship, weapon, and module, for you to come up with a solution. In fact if you wanna not think and just blow s*** up, go get an XBOX 360, plug in the latest episode of doom and your sorted. Get a grip!!
