CBall, I understand your frustration but your not helping the situation at all by making personal attacks on other players by threatening to petition to have them banned.

That was not the original intention of this post. All I wanted to do was bring some attention to this possible exploit and have it fixed, not get people banned.

Excuse me?? By submitting the petition (CCP recommended solution) the problem will be resolved. How constructive should I be, should I edit the code, enforce the rules myself???

What do you think the petitions are for???

It allows the DEV's and tech support to become aware of the real issues, without having to read through a hoard of flames from either side...

BTW, it is not a threat, I actualy do it, as all players should when an exploit user/corp is found. (read the EULA when you have a chance)

The grid exploit was blown way out of proportion, but it was an easily reproduced bug. Whether it could of been used consistently in combat to give you any advantage was debatable. I think most of the problem was due to bad gate placement myself (ie. sticking one right on the border of the next grid).

The jump-in problem is as old as the hills though, and it does need looking at. Especially now that everyone knows about it.

Some people playing this game are cruel and vicious. Most of those cruel and vicious people are not as stupid as you'd hope them to be. The question was never answered from the original thread:

Why would someone using a drone worth 100k isk to create lag at a battle when a 15k isk (or cheaper) would do the same job and be capable of fighting?

It's not like it's impossible to find Acolyte drone blueprints or lord knows the drones themselves (open a spawn container, any spawn container. 3 out of 5 there's a drone in it). Or could there be a simpler answer, one that you're willfully ignoring in your rush to accuse someone of cheating you? One that could be staring you right in the face but you turn away to avoid it?

Maybe they had the harvesters in their drone bay along with regular drones while out mining and just did 'Select all->Launch'?

On the other hand, why would someone use a mining drone in combat AT ALL?

There is NO legitimate reason for someone to have Harvester (or even Basic Mining) drones orbiting their ship at a spawn point with no asteroids.

If the intent was to create lag: It's an exploit.

If the intent was to make your ship hard to click, which someone from either Sinister or m0o admitted to in anothe thread: That's an exploit too, taking advantage of flaws in the game's UI.

Edit: Combat drones are understandable, as they have a legitimate reason for being present. If combat drones had been in use, I wouldn't be so convinced that this was intended as 100% pure exploit. But I maintain that mining drones have NO legitimate reason for being deployed in a combat situation where no asteroids are present. Convince me of a good legitimate reason for deploying mining drones in such a situation and I'll change my tune.
