don't get me wrong - I'm not a dedicated hacker/analyzer (data/relic analyzer now), but I do practice fairly frequently, as I typically travel places in my cov-ops, which is set up for scanning.
My issue is as follows - I'm thinking about a dedicated scanning/hacking/analyzing/salving alt. I just went on sisi - and there is NO WAY to increase my virus strength above 40 (using a cov-ops boat) (and on TQ I can't use the T2 codebreakers/data analyzers)
so I though - OK - let's use 2 modules, that might work, or maybe there's a rig, or a module; nope, nope, nope
can we get some way to up our virus strength? please.
I agree that if it's a module or a rig it should gimp your fit, taking what are the more valuable slots on a scanning/analyzing boat (I think I'd say mids and rigs)
I don't think it should give a big bonus - +1 or +2 for T1, +2 to +5 strength to T2
if it's a skill I don't think it should give a bonus of more than 10 at lvl V
if you're feeling REALLY kind - we should be able to activate a second analyzer on the can to double our virus strength (if you activate them together)
I want some way to up things, basically, don't really mind how...

But seriously hacking is easy enough as it is. There's a flood of (t2) salvage ever since the changes were made. Surely you sometimes fail hacking and that nice True Sansha control tower bpc gets lost, but that's the game, nobody wins 100%.

I get that that's the game (that doesn't give me a problem), and HS hacking is definitely easy enough, losec - not so much.....
it just seems somewhat ridiculous that I can get my coherence up to over a hundred easily, but my strength is still down at 30 (and frustrates my OCD no end)
anyway, was just an idea |

Perhaps that 30 is your problem. What is the point to train scanning skills to 5's if you can succeed eveytime with much less skills?
If you are interested in being explorer and invest time to get skills to 5, you will notice difference on the spot. I have absolutley no problem to hack sites in any sec and sometimes when I lose it, mostly it is because horrible RNG. |

train level 5. 30 str to 40 is huge, and 10 extra coherence is nice.
I would be okay with adding rigs, provided they had a high calibration cost. Or even better, perhaps just adding +5 strength onto the t2 coherence rig.

Aye get those skills to 5 and use a bonused ship. Even nulsec hacking will become pretty close to guaranteed.
Any node with a coherence of 40 or less (that's pretty much everything outside of nulsec) instantly dies to your virus.

You are correct. Still, that is a very handy rig on a dedicated hacking ship. A little bit of extra coherence can make all the difference in a 0.0 ghost site. |

The reaeon they need to make it hard is because they made scanning so easy that a child could do it. So the hacking games need to be hard to stem the already broken dam of t2 salvage into highsec.
Too many people find it easy enough to do along side theyre main source of isk making that people who used to make a decent income doing it now can't, Buffing it would just make it worse and devalue the salvage even more.

While devalued T2 salvage might be bad for Explorers (not many of them can keep up with competition), but as ordinary pilot i welcome reasonable prices for T2 rigs. When one T2 rig costs five times the hull and regarded as luxury or "pimpage" - somehow it doesnt seem like "balance" to me.
