Edited by: Jia Yan on 12/03/2006 22:44:57 The starlight flashed off polished hulls as 9 frigates dropped out of warp by the stargate. The pilots were those of the Sanguine Legion, none more than a week old, but driven by the blood lust of the Raiders. 9 times the stargate flashed as all 9 ships were catapulted across space into the system of Amamake, where they sat cloaked and waiting.
Azuriel's voice came over the intercom - "Tempest battleship! It's warped to that asteroid belt". The gang leader instantly acted, hurling the ships into warp after the unwary behemoth.
Dropping back into real space, the Legion found themselves mere kilometres from the gargantuan hull of the Tempest. Instantly they sprang into action, targeters screaming, and lasers flashing into action. A vicious swarm of fire descended upon the hapless battleship, its shields flickering as they strained to repel the focused energy of the tiny ships. Missiles sped out of its hull, careening towards the tiny frigates, but being quick and agile they avoided the worst of the damage. ItÆs mammoth turrets swivelled impotently as they tried to track the nimble attackers.
Suddenly, targeting alarms aboard the Legions ships blared. 2 more ships have jumped in, and these ones are surrounded by a flashing red border: -10 pirates. This is bad news. ôConcentrate fire on the battleship, itÆs failing!ö Azuriel urged. And it was, armour crumbling, then the fragile structure exposed and taking fire.
Meanwhile, the newcomers had locked on to the swarm of frigates. As the Tempest finally exploded in a colossal fireball, drones shot out of the hostile Vexor, and itÆs companion the Punisher sped in to help. Systems on board Jia YanÆs ship flickered as the shields dropped in mere seconds, 5 heavily modified and angry drones shredding them like paper. The Armour tank kicked in, holding steady, but power levels dropped rapidly as the repairers tried to keep up with the damage. The Vexor greedily sucked the energy out of her and 3 other Legion frigates. ôIÆm going down!ö screamed Jia, as the structure of her Punisher failed, and her pod was hurled into space.
As this was happening, the Legions fire was being concentrated on the enemy frigate. With countless energy vampires draining it, it dropped swiftly, and fire was turned to the Vexor, now low on shield thanks to Jia YanÆs final burst of laser light. The VexorÆs repairers screamed as they tried to cope with the damage, and its drones tore through a second Legion frigate, despite their mothership now being electronically blinded by the Legions one and only jammer. Moments later, its bulkheads finally gave way, and it blew up spewing components across the belt.
A depleted Legion force picked the hulks clean and moved on, the 2 downed pilots seeking new craft. The Sanguine Legion name grows that little bit more fearedà.

VERY nice read! Best I've seen on this forum for awhile. We need more like this and less b*tching and ZOMGWWTFPWNBBQEMO gloating threads. --------------------------------

Very nice way to put into words your exploits and day to day gaming. I also really commend your efforts to use frigs in large (more than 2-3) groups for assault.
While doing my Trial Rupture experiment, I had 4 noob frigates engage my noob Rupture. I killed all 4 in quick succession, but I wonder what would have happened if there had been five or six or seven.
Small craft tactics have always interested me and you're showing that the idea has great merit. Keep it up!
Could you share your ideas about ships and their loadouts and your general approach to targets?

Our tactics are so secret, even the pilots executing them dont know exactly how they work .
Offcourse we experiment with setups and tactics, but I doubt that it's set-ups or tactics that has made us succesfull killers so far.
What we do have, is this: all members are eager to fight anything and anyone, in any situation, all are willing to risk their ship+pod in a fight, all obey commands once it's given, no matter how suicidal it may seem (like this encounter looked when we had 2 -10 Sec Status 'colleagues' jumping in between us and out prey).
Set-ups, shiny ships, modules, tactics, experience, etc. that can and will all grow over time. Attitude is something people have or have not. Sanguine has that attitude.

There was brief discussion as to what the next level would be. We decided either a HAC or 2 BS at once will be when we have hit the next level.
We will keep you posted, Yarrr! |

Oh, what sad times are these when passing ruffians can say 'noob' at will to old ladies. There is a pestilence upon this land. Nothing is sacred. |

That's a statement of inexperience. NOCTS and Sanguine have both continually engaged situations where the numbers are against us, sometimes heavily. Numbers are a useful factor, I won't deny it, but the loadout of the ships, the leadership calling the shots, the experience of the pilots, and the trickery avalaible by understanding the system you are in is much more important.
Sanguine isn't able to destroy their targets just because of swarmming, but also because of the leadership behind the wheel. Their tactics are tight, fast, and effective. A simple way to counter them specifically is a nice duraprophecy with multiple nos and frigate-class weaponry (mine can tank sentry guns for 4 minutes )or a battleship with nos/smartbombs. Numbers are effective, but don't slap that half-assed jab of "well, omfg only cuz of numb3rz.". It shows a certain lack of PvP experience for fleet operations. --------------

yeah isnt that the truth, Ander was extremely unlucky to not wipe out our entire friggy squad with a smartbomb BS earlier, probably deserved to as well given we really should have smelt a trap on that occasion, but jumped in anyway. ---------

Thus far, our innovative tactics have, among other things, included target scrambling gangmates, and deliberately misunderstanding the concept of transversals.
Some would say this are near exploit tactics, but they seem to work for us, and we will keep doing them.
