I turn my 20" Dell screen vertical so I can have 2 eve's running at 1024 x 768 running baove each other without having to alt-tab

Widescreen. Costco sells fairly good ones for only 400 USD. Dell's are slightly better in terms of features (flipping them vertically) but cost a couple hundred more.

thank you for all the replies. I've decided to get a Dell 2005FPW widescreen. Can't wait till I get it.
Waiting/saving for a 24" widescreen is a bit too much for my budget :)

Originally by: Saatuban Wolverine I love my widescreen dell 2005FPW at 1680x1050 resolution in eve.
This is the exact same monitor that I have, and EVE is absolutly beautiful on it. I wouldn't trade my 20.1" widescreen for even a 23" 4:3.

I say, get a WUXGA (1920x1200) screen, for native 1080p, something you'll be wishing you had in 2-3 years.

I just bought a 21" Gateway Widescreen last week and it runs EVE like a champ :-) Not to mention all my other games. Most games can be coaxed into performing well at widescreen resolutions (1680x1050 in my case). Widescreens dont necessarily have worse performance either - the one I have has 8ms response time - way better than most LCD's. It also has component, composite, DVI-D, VGA, S-video inputs and HD (1080p, 720p, 480i) support as well as Picture in Picture. For $600 its an awesome monitor and i'm already dreaming of playing DVDs in a PIP window while playing EVE :-)

as an alternative, i use a projector hooked up to my tiny-screen laptop. cant read the damn text and resolution is low but it makes flying through space a trippy experience

Originally by: Tsukiko Kuro Im kinda in the same situation, trying to decide between: 19" 4:3 1280 x 1024 20.1" WS 1680 x 1050 27" WS 1280 x 720
But the 20.1" wide gives very little screen space on the height. And Eve dont have support for either of the above widescreens resolution.
my eve plays at 1680x1050.

Running a 24" ACER WS here. It alows gorgeous 1900x1200 rez for full screen and also allows for this:
Widescreen desktop with EVE @ 1900x 1200
